Why is nobody trading on HitBTC?
« on: August 13, 2014, 09:54:49 pm »

Just wondering. I've used them a few times and the no fee thing is a plus. Volume there is under $200 right now. People complain about Bter's rip-off 0.5% withdrawal fee, then when there's an alternative (with faster deposit/withdrawal than Bter) nobody uses it.  ???

theres no market on hitbic and there probably never will be. MGW will kill em all.

Someone should make a trading platform pretending the MGW is a website based exchange.. (i'll take 5% for the idea)

Yeah, my question is why there is no market on hitbtc when there are markets on other traditional exchanges like Bter and even Cryptsy. MGW will not be revolutionizing crypto trading for at least a few months, so it still makes sense to move some trading activity from the other exchanges to hitbtc. Anyone is free to put up buy/sell orders there and start creating a market. We don't have to keep doing the same thing just because it's what we've been doing. Sometimes I worry about the NXT community..

Yes people why? If you want more exchanges to adopt NXT, then you need to support the new exchanges. Is there anything particularly bad about HitBTC? What is your  user experience? Is it fast to deposit and withdraw?

Yes people why?
- did you try yourself?
I get "Numeric account ID's are no longer allowed" with Nxt client with deposit account, provided by HitBTC.
How can I trust exchange, which do not bother with the account format ?

Well that's a good reason. I haven't had that problem, but I'm still on 1.1.6 client and able to use numeric addresses. This issue is easily fixed though, someone just needs to contact hitbtc and let them know the new format is required by the latest client.

Most of that trading was me and you, then.
The NXT community spent shitloads of time and effort getting listed on HitBTC...and then almost no-one uses the platform.
I'm trying to move all of my NXT trading (which aint much) onto HitBTC and CCEDK, but I seem to be in a minority.

So far, I've moved about 3 BTC onto/off HitBtc in various forms, and I love using it. Being able to cash out almost directly (NXT<>BTC<>EUR) to your bank account is cool.
Same goes for CCEDK, but there you can actually trade NXT<>EUR directly.

So, get yer trading asses onto:

People trade where the volume is, despite the fees.

That's a bit of a vicious circle then...

I once supported a startup exchange, ended up being unable to do the trades I wanted to due to low liquidity. Waste of time and opportunity it was.

If you start an exchange it is hard to get the ball rolling and thus you must also offer liquidity. This is not the job of the NXT community but their job.

Successful exchanges are goldmines but as with everything you must either be first or best.

Exchanges are dead. They need us, not the other way around.

They are vultures just like banks.

And what about www.ccedk.com ? Is it working well? is it worth a juicy SEPA transfer to buy NXT?

Now that Bter is compromised, this might be a good time to consider giving hitbtc a try. The problem with %80 of volume being on one exchange is that trading shuts down when that exchange gets hacked or robs its own clients.

for me it is convenient.
I prefer it over polo, because deposits and withrawals work and they work fast.
