On dividends
Predictability always wins.
More frequent payouts for a new asset reduce 'risk'.
Less frequent payouts for an established (what ever that means) asset reduce costs.

So there may be some logic to delaying a payout because reinvesting makes more sense, however, randomly paying out is not going to make you popular, but will increase speculation about your character. As if we have not heard enough already :)

There is also a link between dividends and the release of new assets. In my ideal world you pay the dividend and then release new assets so that they earn their dividends at the next payout.

There is also an issue with the value of the asset going up, if the dividend is not released for some time. Since you are buying into a 'guarenteed' payout you should pay more for the asset. We already see this with other mining stocks where liquidity is best just after a dividend. This would suggest a more frequent payout is required. It also suggests that issuing assets at 1 nxt before a dividend is underpricing them.

+1,

Personnaly, if dividends payment is not previsible, I won't keep this asset. I suggest you pay weekly dividends like every other mining asset, but you could give yourself a time interval to pay the dividends. For example, it could be any any time between tuesday to thursday, but every week I would like to get something more into my account. That way I can choose where to compound my revenue.

I'm not sure what you mean by pre-visible, but the investment hypothesis for SafeHash is the protection of your investment capital, not regular weekly payments. If you are here for regular weekly payments I advise you look elsewhere.

That being said, we have less than 30 shareholders right now, I don't see a problem in weekly dividends. But if this number ever gets close to 100, 200, 300, it will become a significant amount of money and we will move to monthly payments. The one thing that can save us is if the devs finally implement lower fees for dividend payments. I heard some kind of bulk payment system was in 1.4.. cfb committed code for it back in june... so hopefully they will finally release it.

I won't worry about the fee, they will go down. In any case, you can reduce 1 Nxt from my dividends, I don't care about 1 Nxt, but prefer steady income.

Anyway, I have some safehash now and I will see how it goes.

Well it looks like SAAS has paid out. I'll have a look at the dividends in the morning to see if they're the last payer. If so, I might as well pay dividends earlier rather than later.

Hi Printshop,

Paying dividends is NOT a favor to shareholders, but your duty.

When are the dividends paid, that is your choice to make, but clearly communicating when the payment happens, is another of your duties.

I know you know this already, but I have noticed other asset mangers getting a bit arrogant once they start handling larger assets and BTC volumes (could be related to their age too... :-) ). I hope you won't go that way.

My recommendation: Decide on a clear schedule for dividend payments and stick to it. Later you can always ask for the shareholders opinion if you feel a change would be beneficial.

We are here for the dividends, if I just want to protect my NXT, I will put them into a paper wallet and lock it up in the safe...

Rounded up my Safehash share count from the weekly dividends :-).

Hi Printshop,

Paying dividends is NOT a favor to shareholders, but your duty.

It's a duty because shareholders say it's a duty ;) That can change, but I think it is unlikely. KNS has taken on a very large liability starting this fund, and I control a majority of shares of KNS through my personal account and through KPS holdings. That means I get to be personally responsible for most of this debt if things blow up. That gives me a certain amount of clout over SafeHash investors, because I'm the one who is ultimately responsible for the debt and with responsibility comes power. That is rule #1 around here, shareholders have the ultimate power in all of my companies.

I'm with you on this, I just want to be clear about who makes the rules around here (the shareholders). This process of discussion is necessary as a way of keeping shareholders informed and seeing if a vote is required. It looks like the shareholders have no issue with regular weekly dividends right now, and it seems to make more sense to me to pay out on Mondays (why Mondays? because everyone else has paid by then).

Re: SafeHash
November 20, 2014, 05:08:19 am

KPS had assisted in the formation of SafeHash, but it's mandate is not to be in the mining trade. So I've placed 60% of the KPS SafeHash shares on sale between 1.005 and 1.05. That's about 30,000 shares at 1.05 and under.

On the other hand, if you prefer to get in at 1, now is the time to place your bids. A few shares are going through (someone just sold 1,000) and we were able to sell 300 more due to some trade activity on USDbitfnx. If you are interested in buying shares, now is the time you might want to place a BID order at 1, since the first few thousand shares standing in the bid always go through first. It's like standing in line.

There will be a bonus dividend this week because we had trade activity on our backing.

There are lots of exciting things happening behind the scenes here at SafeHash!

We were able to pick up 2,000 units of ltc2nxt2 at IPO price! This will help us expand. But that is minor compared to the next good news. I'll post about it in a minute. I would prefer to handle the KPS and KNS dividends first :)

Re: SafeHash
November 24, 2014, 05:04:18 am

And now for something completely different.

SafeHash enters MOU with NxtGlaive for backing of 350,000 NXT.

SafeHash and NxtGlaive enter into MOU for backing loan. NxtGlaive will guaranty approximately 350,000 NXT of SafeHash Debt, in return for ongoing payments of 12,000 NXT per month interest and 12,000 NXT per month principal. All amounts will be recorded and transacted in NXT for accounting purposes.

Additional conditions demand the closeout of KPS as guaranty for the income stream.

What this means is that SafeHash can sell an almost unlimited number of shares into the market, however, KPS must immediately begin repurchasing all of it's shares. As a consequence, KPS will no longer issue a dividend, but use all existing capital to repurchase shares.
