THE BIG BOUNTY!
« on: July 26, 2014, 09:32:52 pm »

This is the big one!
As you may know, Project Sentinel wants to reward DoS resilient nodes! In order to do it, we need to be able test nodes for their resilience to different types of DoS attacks and recon methods! I am placing a bounty of 100 Sentinelcoins to anyone who can develop the software to do this!

I'm afraid this can't be done.
If you really try to DoS my server, both your internet provider and mine can be hit... so both of us can have troubles.
Remember: in many countries doing a DoS is a crime.

Anyway one tool that can be used is Scapy.
I'm a newbie on this forum so I can't post links but you can easily find it with Google.
You can also find tutorials on how to do a DoS with Scapy.

If you have enough box in different locations, you can easily do a DDoS...

What is the exchange rate between a Schrute Buck and a SentinelCoin, or a SentinelCoin to a Stanley Nickel?

I kid I kid. But can you remind us why we want Sentinelcoins? Is your hope similar to NSC, that people will create a market for them to reward people for their security work? And if whales start placing buy orders to support this project, doesn't that instantly make you very rich because you are the holder of the majority of them?

In theory, I could take the NXT form the whales and run away but I would hope I have earned more trust from the community than that by now. I don't plan to sell more Sentinelcoins than I have to in order to keep project sentinel running and I keep the Project Sentinel account separate from my own so the funds don't get mixed. I have done good work with NXT Organization so far and been around for quite some time and put in a lot of personal effort towards improving the security of NXT.

It is supposed to be like NSC, just a token to reward people for their work on NXT Security in case improving the security of NXT isn't enough motivation for them.

I also found (rather, someone found for me) an Apache Java API to benchmark nodes. I don't know the details of how it works but I do know it takes a strong computer just to benchmark the nodes.
