Official Nxt Releases / Re: NRS v1.2.3
« on: August 11, 2014, 05:25:46 pm »
Since upgrading, when I attempt to send NXT to another address, I see a red bubble pop up saying "incorrect request" and a green bubble pop up in the upper right corner regarding using a referenced transaction ID.

Thoughts?

Hmm?? What browser is this?
Chrome.

ok thanks.. what folder do i copy over to copy settings from previous release?

In the nxt folder: "run.sh" or "run.bat" (If you made changes to it).
Under the nxt folder is a subfolder named "conf".  One file is "nxt-default.properties" and the other is "nxt.properties."

nice. am i able to copy the data base over from 1.1.6 to 1.2.3? it said not enough space in the folder.. but that could be my laptop

Forrest, I don't think so.  Check my message up just a couple from yours in the thread.  If you upgrade from 1.1.6 to 1.2.3, the DB will be converted, which caused, in my case at least, the DB to explode in size.  Given that I  had my settings saved, I just fetched the latest zip, applied my settings, and am downloading a new copy of the block chain.

No, you're right, Cobalt.  I don't think my client handled the conversion up from 1.1.6 well.  Database size grew from 330MB to 1.6GB.

I deleted the folder and and am downloading fresh.

I've looked through the change logs and didn't see anything, but can anyone else confirm that the database size has increased by a factor of four since the upgrade?

I'm considering a fresh install to reload the block chain, but I thought I'd ask.

Background
Networking, server administration, infrastructure, and some programming.

Current Employment
Sr. Network Engineer at a major casualty insurance company

Skills
Expert in Cisco Routing and Switching, BGP/OSPF/EIGRP, LAN/WAN, tunneling, NAT and physical transport technologies (SONET, SRP, etc).
Server Administration with Unix and its variants (FreeBSD, NetBSD, SunOS, Linux), including DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, SMTP
Basic coding skill in C, Perl, and Pascal,

Interests
Online anonymity, information security, privacy and, of course NXT.  The possibilities that exist with NXT as the framework defy my imagination at this point because I literally don't know what I don't know.

But I aim to change that.

As I read the forums more and more, I become evermore excited about the development and possibilities of NXT as a currency and a platform.

My only regret is the fact that I am not more of a coder to assist with the actual development of the project.  But evangelism?  Yeah, I can do that.

As for something funny, I just woke up, but I would like everyone to remember that they are special -- truly unique... just like everyone else.  :)

Question for Pf (or anyone else who might know):

How long (in days) does a typical mining shift last?  I've been looking around the site and haven't seen any sort of indication other than the time codes on the payouts, which I cannot seem to decipher.

Thanks all,
-Rich

Issuer NXT Account: NXT-LQTE-D82C-VKU4-FEPFB

Transfer your assets to this NXT Account and leave a comment containing

{

I'm confirming I have transfered the following assets.

nXtGenGHS: 5000
nXtGenKHS: 1000
EnergyGHS: 100

In return I will receive equivalent GHS/KHS under a newly assigned asset, which I agree to the terms.

}

This is the easiest way for now. I'm still working on the dashboard platform which will work a little more independently and automated for these situations. All in good time :)

I have transferred my assets to the requested address.

But to your point, I was able to transfer NXT from an exchange to my wallet and immediately commit them on the AE.

My mistake.  I confused his question with when you can begin forging with new funds.

You will need an up to date client and a full block chain to see the contents of your wallet.  An alternate method for simply checking would be to enter your account number into the block chain explorer.  From there you can view your current ledger balance, assets you own, and a history of transfers, among other things.

A typical transfer requires 1440 confirmations or about a full day to post to your account and another full day to become available to transfer elsewhere.

Nxtwes,

There is a bug in the version of the client you are using (1.0.2).  I know because the same thing happened to me.  The blockchain would download until about 98% and never complete.  If you haven't already, use this link to download the latest update for the client.

https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.1.3.zip

To make things easier, just delete the entire directory you installed the 1.0.2 version in, especially the nxt_db files, which is the actual blockchain.  Unzip the 1.1.3 version of the client, start the server, and the blockchain will download and complete without issue.

Best success to you,
