Nxt General Discussion / Re: Raspberry Pi for Nxt and Ardor - privacy

Thanks for the post Kermitas.

I have been looking around more at some old threads. It seems 512 and even 256mb of ram is enough NXT, after some initial confusion (and assuming NXT makes similar demands as it did then).

Here is a good comparison chart for all the Raspberrys side by side.

So the Zero has more RAM than the Rasp 2 or the original raspberry that have already run Nxt.

Ebereon did a solar forging guide, that is now down, on or before Feb 2014. And below are the release dates of the Pis

So Ebereon must have done his guide with either a Pi 1A or 1B. Both of these have the same processor and number of cores as the Zero, but the Zero is 1Ghz, instead of 700Mhz.

So, I think the Pi Zero W will work for forge. This is all assuming that NXT hasn't significantly increased in power and processing demands since 2014. And I am not missing something about how NXT works.

Is there a better place to find technical help than here?

Thanks all.

N.B. I can't post full links.

Nxt General Discussion / Raspberry Pi for Nxt and Ardor
« on: January 29, 2018, 12:18:02 am »
Hi All,

I am a hobbyist and have managed to set up a Raspberry pi 3 to run both NXT and Ardor by amalgamating various guides and tips that are out there. I plan to just use the accounts running on the pi to forge with leased balances so the forging is more secure, as I understand it. Everything seems to be up and running ok but I was wary before I started forging.

I have a few questions:

i) What private information (ip?) is leaking from doing this and what associations can be made, if any? I am thinking of preventing my family being kidnapped and held to ransom with data gleaned from my forging, if NXT/Ardor become as big as Bitcoin.

ii) What are the absolute musts I have to do to harden my ssh connection and any other security? (besides changing the password)

iii) Can you route through tor or is this not necessary?

iv) As some of the guides are old and run on the original Pi's, can I assume a Pi Zero can forge too?

Thank you.
