Not being able to connect how? Can you show me the post? (As you know I'm terribly busy unfortunately).

Anyway, the instructions on how to build your own installer for windows; if possible I would like a few people here to try this, and also report the hashes, I haven't tested if they would match or not when built on different systems..

1. Install Node

2. Install git

(during setup choose "use git from the Windows command prompt")

3. Open command line.

Execute "cmd.exe" in Windows.

4. Install grunt

> npm install grunt
> npm install -g grunt-cli

5. Clone the repo

> git clone https://bitbucket.org/nxt-wallet/nxt-wallet-win.git

6. Create the binary.

> cd nxt-wallet-win
> grunt

7. Place files in folder

Open the webkitbuilds folder, navigate to the "win" folder.
Place the created Nxt Wallet.exe in another folder, together with icudtl.dat and nw.pak
Place the newest Nxt version in a subfolder called “nxt”.

8. Change the app icon

The icon can be downloaded here: http://nxtra.org/AppIcon.ico

Download resource Hacker: http://www.angusj.com/resourcehacker/
File > Open > Choose the binary.
Action > Replace Icon > Open File with New Icon
File > Save

9. Make the installer

Download inno setup: http://www.jrsoftware.org/isdl.php
Open the setup.iss script included in the repository
Change the myAppVersion to the new version info.
Change the directories to point to the binary / icon files (step 7).

(Building for mac should be self-explanatory for anyone who knows xcode.)

Instructions also provided to mrv-777 who will be building a new version soon. Then I can redirect the site to the official nxt.org download page instead.

Yes that is right, it will continue auto-updating. Nevertheless, it's always best if the version available for download is the newest, for obvious reasons. Mrv777 will actually take over the packaging of these update releases. I just haven't had the time yet to describe to him the process of packaging it, which I will do today.

Old Nxt Promotion Topics / Re: Faucets
« on: November 18, 2014, 01:50:51 pm »
In an ideal world yes, I wouldn't do that. But the site had it's fair share of people trying to get as many coins as possible. Tho even that doesn't stop them, nor do the captcha's and other protections.

I will release the latest source code sometime next week, then anyone can make a version with the parameters they want, with the protections they want. (And maybe someone can integrate it into nxt.org)

Nxt General Discussion / Re: NXT faucet is empty?
« on: November 10, 2014, 04:17:09 pm »
Yea, the faucet still works. I propose also that this faucet (or another one) be integrated in nxt.org -- maybe someone can do that? I can provide the code for this. Something as basic as a faucet should be available instantly on the main site, we have too much fragmentation already.

You could also make the date bold to indicate that there is a message attached. (Similar to how the recent blocks are bold if they have transactions, and not if they're empty).

Perhaps it would be good if there was an API call that returns all things that require user attention after a specified timestamp. So this would return that there are 2 new messages, 1 feedback on an item sale, 1 refund, and so on, ... Otherwise you may have to do too many requests to check all these things at startup.

Technical Development Fund Committee / GUI
« on: October 24, 2014, 08:59:20 am »
As you may have noticed I have been absent from the forum these past few weeks. As I have said in some of my last posts, this is due to "real world commitments" (job) that are taking up all my time.

Fortunately, we already have 2 new GUI developers working on core that are doing a great job. Mrv777 is working on his theme changer, a feature that I didn’t have time to develop, and is also working on the UI for a 1.4 feature, the "monetary system".

Jones as I understand it is working on wallet.dat and a few other things. And I hear crimi may also be interested in joining the GUI developers sometime soon.

Having multiple GUI developers just makes sense, it was never good to rely on a single person (me) in the past. It should also bring new ideas and innovations, such as the QR login / signing idea from HumanFractal. And of course it will speed up development, which sometimes has to wait for GUI development before being able to test things properly (this was partly why 1.3 took so long).

I’ll be giving some of the tech committee donations I received back (to the tech committee), for the purpose of GUI development so that these new developers are properly motivated.

Of course, I’ll still be around for any questions that GUI developers may have surrounding the current code base, and for some code review / suggestions also.

Jones is doing very interesting stuff, I think he should start working on the core gui officially as well as with humanfractal so that the GUI gets the attention it deserves.

Not much changes in terms of features. this release simply puts everything in the database from now on.

In terms of features, you'll finally be able to see your trade history. Everything is now paginated also.

I'm afraid the delay is partly my fault. I am pretty busy in real life these days. It would be good if someone else could take care of the GUI also. I'm thinking humanfractal would be good for that. He wants to add QR code login sometime soon to the UI.

I just wanted to confirm that I stepped down due to workload and time shortage, there are no other reasons. I still believe in this project.

How many posts like this do you need until you make the "you must supply the recipient public key also" feature optional ?

It's fine people :) - you can download it. Tho there will be a new version again tomorrow due to NRS 1.3 changes in the startup process that you will have to update to again.

When I launch it. All I see is a spinning wheel. The question that pops up in me is; 'Why the hell does it take so long to launch it?'

But I think/know it is downloading the blockchain (20 minutes still spinning). Where is the status bar which showed how much there was left to download?
This would be handy for new users.

no, after initialization you should see login screen.

Send me PM so i can send you another version to debug this.

Hi Guys,

I persist that we should not take Jeff's FUDs sitting down. Let's capture a bit of BTC marketcap.

It is my understanding that there is a kitty for technical/infrastructure development. I propose the committee offer bounties
for development of merchant plugins and appropriate marketing collateral. This way, more and more
people will get to curious about what NXT offers above and beyond BTC and will be hit with the answer.

The tools I refer to are similar to the merchant plugins offered by BitPay and Coinbase to integrate with popular FOSS shopping cart
software. These plugins should be freely available for anyone to integrate, including NXT community members who want to target various sectors using commercial portals. They should be in a NRS plugins subdirectory.

I also feel very strongly that NXT tech/infrastructure should offer a bounty for a DGS webstore that is delightful for customers and make it part of core release for anyone to tweak for their industry.

Secondly, we need to make NRS web ui mobile responsive and consider bells and whistles that would enable anyone with a public IP
able to host an NXT wallet service for the public.

my humble two cents.

Funny, almost all of what you say is in the Nxt Organization tech plan ;)

But, 10 year old girls are not permitted to use Facebook. A few may slip through, but not enough to use as an illustration. To say they comprise a large amount of those who like Nxtty is commenting in ignorance about how Facebook actually works. I wonder then how much such a commenter could really understand about Facebook advertising to make such hard line assertions and how much value we should attribute to their uneducated assumptions?

If you go to https://www.facebook.com/645168825569486/photos/a.650530295033339.1073741828.645168825569486/715976335155401/?type=1&theater and click on the "33,xxx people like this", you can see the list of people. There are a TON of 10 year old girls in there, more than the few I posted.

Btw, 10 year olds obviously fake their age on Facebook, that's how they get access.

My issue here isn't people raising valid concerns, airing opinions, etc -- let's all fire away (civilly). My only gripe is a hint of condescension where we're all gullible hicks falling for bought likes. I'm excited about Nxtty because of the possibilities. Can anyone here raise a hand that bought Nxtty because some goofball picture on Facebook had 30k likes?

I am here to answer any questions which you may have, I prefer in PM so I can provide you full details.

Please PM me anytime and if I don't response pls send me a reminder.

P.S. Please don't spam me...thanks.

No, no one bought because of the 30K likes on a picture, but some did buy based on the number of likes and apparent popularity of the app on Facebook (in fact this is why this thread was started, see post #1).

Also you posting people (which btw runs into 300 or so in that single post) - won't stop me from seeing their accounts.
Such shit you talk buddy.

I guess I don't get it (being a non(ex)-Facebook user)... is this some stunning revelation that these likes were bought? As if no one knew this by looking at a picture with 30k likes?

The fact that he won't admit it is the problem and makes him look (a little) shady imo.

Well, I have said my peace. It is on the record. People can come back to this in a few months and see I did sent out a warning :)

All I can say now to anyone that wishes to invest, BE CAREFUL. Whilst the product may be OK, the promotion around it in my opinion is not.
