Over the past couple of months I sold 90% of my NXT. It might shock some, but I was in it to make a profit  ;)

Ah-hah, that's why NXT price has bottomed in the past two months and begun to rise again. That explains it, you were the last weak hands ;)
Hahaha, my amount had almost zero impact.

I still wish NXT has a bright future though!

NXTreporting is great... that thing needs to stay alive.

NXT is starting to really lose steam now. I was a huge supporter for a long time and when my interest started waning I immediately thought this meant real trouble (as I suspected that others might be feeling the same). In the end, it was too many promises by SUPERNET related things that didn't come together and too many features that didn't get implemented with any sort of cohesion to the real world.

I never sold my stake, I will hold on and hope for a turn around - but, the hours a day reading and looking online have to be spent on other projects at this stage.

Losing a resource like nxtreporting is just another signal that things are slowing to a crawl.

NXTreporting was a poorly managed site anyway. Always took forever to update to new NXT client.

That statement sounds so much like jl777. I am referring to the argument between him and Jean-Luc about API changes. Just has the same immature and whiny tone to it.

They removed the "nxt is dying and extremely stupid bit".

I don't know how they are funded or if they are funded, but I think it's a loss.
It was nicely designed, fast and (as far as I could see) reliable.

With the new kid on the block (Ethereum) I can understand their sentiment. NXT was and in a lot of ways still IS way ahead of all the other coins including Ethereum. After all of this time, I've been with NXT since early december 2013, I also have a hard time to keep faith.
It's very frustrating. Especially knowing that NXT could have been number 2 and even perhaps number 1 with a proper business structure...
(imagine what would happen when Jean-Luc walks away or something terrible happens to him, god forbid)  :(

Perhaps when I see a solid reason to buy in again, I will.

I still think that if Jean-Luc and the other core devs would unite in a company, like Red Hat, they could make this a succes.
(step away from the "starfish design")

Anyone know if Poloniex has problems with NXT?
I've sent some NXT there and it's been 18 confirmations but nothing is showing up at their end.

Of course I did a small amount first  ;)

EDIT: hmprf, I have to file a support ticket. Transaction is on the blockchain and in the correct wallet address.
For now, it could be just my transaction, but I would be a bit more cautious.
Got them already?
In my worst case thoughts they might have sold temporary exclusive deposit rights for some coins to some Chinese pumpers, enabling them to also pump the volume on there... This is probably just the paranoid me kicking in   :P

They resolved the issue without any explanation.
I'm trying another small amount now. Will update as soon as they arrive.

EDIT: the new small amount arrived after 10 confirmations.

Deposits to Polo can be fast, or can take a very long time. I've had deposits go through in 5-10 minutes, or (like last night), more like 45 mins.
When you deposit, it goes to your own Polo deposit address, which is then swept into the hot wallet. You can see whether it's been moved to the hot wallet by checking your deposit address. Mine sat there for 30-50 confirms before it was moved. Only once it's moved does Polo's own confirm countdown start.
This seems to be the case yes!

My last transaction has 30 confirmations on the network, but hasn't arrived in my wallet yet.

hehe 0.5 btc for 5 LQD shares.

ROI in 20 years.

Lol, wtf , that must be an error, who would put 4 million$ in it?
No one.
There is no volume, so with a couple of BTC you can let it spike easily. It was only a 3 BTC buy.

For that we need to thank our whales. Instead of financing NXT infrastructure they are busy with dumping and dreaming about millions. XEM is nothin more than NXT with better  distribution.
You have any proof of that?  ;)
Do you have whale wallet addresses that are steadily declining?

« on: January 09, 2016, 11:09:25 pm »
Same happens to me.

I use a passphrase as always. I paste the passphrase, hit ENTER or click the arrow and nothing happens.
The passphrase box is automatically cleared and that's it.

Same result in IE 11 and Firefox 43.0.1

I cleared the cache on both browsers, redownloaded the blockchain after a fresh install of 1.7.4

Oh, I use the latest available Java version and Windows 7 64bit (up to date with patches).

(EDIT) on my Mac it's running just fine, but I hardly use it there. I normally leave NRS running on one of my MS VM's fulltime.

Ok, I reproduced this with IE11, doesn't happen with Chrome on Windows though. Perhaps it's related to fixes we made to data entry on Android. Please create a ticket for this on https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/issues

You are right!

I downloaded chrome and everything is working as it's supposed to be  ;)

By the way: in Firefox the passphrase line is greyed-out.
I will create a ticket. Thanks for your help!

I keep getting this error:

2015-11-25 20:13:41 FINE: Will process a fork of 718 blocks
2015-11-25 20:13:41 FINE: Rollback from block 6068953147028536978 at height 575478 to 6068953147028536978 at 575478
2015-11-25 20:13:41 FINE: Didn't accept any blocks, pushing back my previous blocks

My client starts downloading the blockchain, over and over.

try download blockchain database zip from www.peerexplorer.com and there will be no need to download blockchain from scratch.

I've tried this two times already, so I'm trying the blockchain download but that's so slooooowwww and seems to be stuck at block 550,000.

I will give the download from peerexplorer another try.

Hello World!

So I was talking to a friend and he said NXT had taken quite a beating. I openend my cointicker and *gasp*  ::)
Seems I've missed quite a bit.

My client also seems a bit out-of-date: 1.4.8  ;D

Well, I, amongst others offered to make several animations and do professional translations in German / English / Dutch, but since there was ZERO interest from the committees. I only did one translation (which I paid for myself).

You can't expect people to keep doing expensive stuff from their own money (even besides the invested time).
At first it was all a hobby, but once it's going to cost serious money and time the novelty quickly wears off.

Hi James,

It  would be great if  a newcomer to crypto could be able to very easily buy 10 NXTEUR and for that, pay 10 EUR + a very, very small fee !

Then the guy uses Jones vapor, makes a 10 NXTEUR voucher, goes to a restaurant next door and has a nice lunch.

Then the restaurant owner converts back the 10 NXTEUR (without fees, if using SEPA).

Of course, this doesn't have to be with NXTEUR, can be any tracker and any name, this is just an example !  The good thing would be that we could address concrete uses and concrete problems in the real life ! And if the public start to accept trackers, they don't have to care about the NXT volatility anymore  :)

I don't understand this use case. Why not just use NXT?  But NXT with whatever, pay the restaurant with NXT, resturant sells next for whatever.
most businesses operate on pretty thin margins (restaurants especially) and most smaller businesses dont have much volatility hedging expertise in crypto. So each and every crypto denominated sale could represent a loss and thus a risk and thus wont happen.

it will be hard enough to get some sort of payment method integrated into the existing systems, without adding currency hedging in realtime as a requirement.

The big businesses avoid NXT, cuz it will be deaded in 100,000 years and they expect to live beyond that. Or maybe because NXT isnt paying the "fees" required to get such biz deals as NXT is a protocol and protocols dont do lunch

James

It is a very easy step for the store owner. No currency risk and the big advantage of using the same EUR prices that he already uses...

This means that he can accept NXTEUR today, without having much to implement (here again, you can use the capodieci camera  ;) ).
So you peg NXT to what?
Who is going to cover for the volatility of NXT?

I haven't been active for quite a while, but have been sort of following things.

My personal opinion about PF is, is that he's giant A-HOLE for not responding or updating. This seems to be the same as in the early days of PF. Lots of promises but when things get hairy, he disappears.
Even when something happened in his personal live, he should have the decency to let us know what is up.

It isn't just this thread / asset that he has abandoned, the same goes for his hrnxtpool.
