Nxt General Discussion / Breaking: Satoshi Nakamoto's Email was Hacked!

Hacker Hijacks Satoshi Nakamoto’s Email, Threatens to Reveal All

The bitcoin world is abuzz with speculation that some of Satoshi Nakamoto’s online accounts have been compromised, concerned a hacker could potentially access information concerning the bitcoin creator’s true identity or use the accounts to defraud key members of the bitcoin community.

Wired reported that the alleged hacker had posted on Pastebin that they would reveal key details of Nakamoto’s identity if 25 BTC were sent to a specified bitcoin address. While small donations have been coming in, the address still appears well short of that mark.

Administrator ‘theymos’ of the Bitcoin Talk forum (aka Michael Marquardt) a key figure in bitcoin’s online community, posted just after 9pm (BST) on 8th September, alerting the community of the development, writing...  continued

Alternate Cryptocurrencies / Re: Ripple
« on: September 09, 2014, 08:56:56 am »
ripple technology is sort of cool and inevitable, Before Bitcoin I always thought that there would be some e-currency with architecture similar to P2P networks like edonkey or overnet, two-tier architecture with central servers (gateways) and clients.  I'm surprised that  there's just ripple, there should be more.

But probably some fishiness around ripple doesn't  induce confidence.  That and Bitcoin :)

there's stellar:  https://www.stellar.org/blog/introducing-stellar/

I like the look of GB, I reckon it has a lot of promise......and (just for full disclosure) I hold 10,000 of the little sweeties.

@lucky331: So, just to play it forward, could you pass on 'my' 100 GB to the next person to post their wallet address, in addition to their normal 100?

sure, not a problem.  :)

ok the next guy will receive 200 GB.

47
I like the wallet! It's nice to see something different than the usual QT clones.

I hold GB and like what it's trying to do.

There is some irritating manipulation of the market right now, but I am confident it will overcome that. :)

thanks for dropping by!  please post your gb wallet.  ty. :)

Official Nxt Releases / Re: NRS v1.2.8
« on: September 08, 2014, 02:55:30 pm »
nxt.org has NRS 1.2.5 in downloads sections. Please update to the latest version.

The Linux / NRS version was updated shortly after the release of v1.2.8 and I'm waitng for a notice that the installers for Windows and Mac have been updated. No doubt, those are the ones you mean :)

yes, it would be nice to have to have the installers for windows and mac be updated so we could invite newbies to download and install the client at nxt.org.

Wow, I totally missed this...

Great to hear that the people at the conferences really appreciate us!
Now let's hope that "the man in the street" will pick this up, because at the moment NXT is THE most under appreciated crypto currency / network!
(our time will come <evil laughter>  ;D
The near universal reaction from the hardcore miners (original BTCD demographic) when they are seeing the NXT is, "wow! NXT is so cool" but sometimes its "I never knew anything could do that and it was so easy"

This is the SuperNET effect  on NXT, it is making a bridge to the altcoin community at large. Once the NXT is pervasive in the altcoins, then the next step is possible

ordinary people like me have been dreaming of something like this.  now you're actually making it happen.

thank you.

Nxt General Discussion / Re: Price speculation
« on: September 05, 2014, 04:27:10 am »
just came across viacoin's clearinghouse project:  http://blog.viacoin.org

seems like clearinghouse will serve as a currency and asset exchange which relies on the viacoin blockchain.

so since some think that bitshares is the main competition of nxt, i think they may have been mistaken.  bitshares is going for the pegged bitAssets route, while viacoin's clearinghouse project could be much the same as nxt's asset exchange.

thoughts?

hey guys, i don't want to open a thread just for this, so might as well post it here since everyone goes here.

i want to start a "pick a nxt feature at the nxttechtree" giveaway at the stellar and ripple communities.  but the client/wallet available at http://nxt.org still uses nrs 1.2.5, i think.

does anyone know when we can have an updated version that has nrs 1.2.8?

just wondering..

55
sorry guys, but this giveaway is closed because i will be starting a new giveaway for the ripple and stellar community.  :)

please be patient for that.  thanks.

When will the photos appear in DGS?  ;D

good idea!  but let them wear clothes ffs!  we do not need the type of publicity it would bring to Nxt.

yup!  we need to show this to everyone.

edit:  i think i'm gonna start a cross community giveaway at the stellar, ripple and (maybe) bitshares communities using nxt tech tree website.

iffy starting it at bitsharestalk tho.  maybe later when their client is more stable and all this bullshit that nxt is the "enemy" is gone and done with.

i think this guy at bitsharestalk bought at the top.  he's been starting threads encouraging everyone to buy btsx and how the devs are 'spartans'. it's like he's in half panic..  lolololol

his latest thread:  https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8208.0

i posted something to make him panic some more.  lolol

NXT is not a coin but about decentralising the financial sysystem and many more....
ALIAS where we get a Alias to URL in NXT and you own that alias not a operator.  It trying to decentralise even DNS... cool isn't it.
When i explain this concept to my friends they all admire it (like i do)
5 days old with NXT and planning to by 3000 NXT immediately.
NXT is going to be BIG.
