Nxt General Discussion / Re: 5 Million NXT bounty for Nxt & Ardor Forgers

I learned about these bounties way too late, and my node got lucky only once but I really appreciate what you did, Megalodon. Thank you.

I think they sell their NXT at Bittrex.

3
I'm impressed. That is some advanced level detective work indeed.   :D

4
asking for a friend. how would you "hunt down" the top forging nodes IP addresses?

5
Do I win a price with 29 days without a payment? 1 node, open API-SSL, CORS, Hallamarked Node, Archival (even though peerexplorer doesn't show it)

no. first, you had to pay around 5.3 NXT to enter the block this morning.

This is untrue.
Transaction with fees > around 5.2 NXT where included in block 1455157
Sell offer transaction was postponed to block 1455158. In this block, fee have to be between arround 4 and 5.1 NXT.

So transaction with higher fees have all arrived before sell offer.

thanks for the correction.
why was the offer postponed? I thought they always use 1000NXT fee in order not to get postponed to the next block.
lol, in block 1455157 one guy paid 37k in fees. what the fuck?

Then how does this sound like?

I place 10 orders each for 1000 IGNIS with one transaction having fess as follows 3 3 4 4 5 5 6 6 7 7. I just increase the chances of getting one of those transactions fulfilled right?

no. first, you had to pay around 5.3 NXT to enter the block this morning. so, your first 6 txs wouldn't have made it. as for the remaining ones with fees >6, if you had send all of them from the same node, I believe that wouldn't have made a difference either. in order to get a tx fullfilled, you need to enter the block very early, i.e. be among the first 15 txs. achieving that is a mix of chance and optimization. let's say the forging node of the golden block was located in the US, then having a node geographically close to this one would increase your chances due to the tx arriving there faster than some tx coming from say Russia. we are talking milliseconds here. since you don't know the forgers location most of the time though, you would have to split your txs among different nodes which would have to be distributed across the globe. in other words, you'd have to rent a VPS in the US, in Europe and so on.

I don't like the fact that whales splitting their orders with higher than standard fees have basically kicked out other people. I doubt everyone knows that you need to increase your fees when the block is expected to be full. Most people think it's a lottery but this is not exactly right, is it? Higher fees and buying more tickets, i.e. issuing more orders have an effect on the outcome.

If the case is subjected to the acceptance of the transaction. What would happen if I put in a buy request of 1000 IGNIS with 25 NXT as transaction fees ?

Then you would have been in the golden block this morning but there would still have been no guarantee that you would have been among the few accounts that got Ignis.

9
Regarding the lucky node lottery, is there a variable in the formula that increases one node's chances of getting lucky the longer it hasn't been chosen or is there a reset after each payment?

What's going on lately with people posting random strings of characters multiple times?

Am running 3 hallmarked nodes and my nxt.zuqka.info is on top of the default peer list.
Yet no luck

The world is unfair  ;D ;D

NXT-8HNT-4ZTF-ZXH3-7RU38 not only got a huge chunk of IGNIS so far... it forged the block right before the sale for over 4k NXT

Which leads me to a conclusion... unfortunately whales do have a higher chance on this ICO since they are big stakers and consequently have much higher chances to forge blocks. If your machine is forging the block I believe it is almost guaranteed you will be successful in the sale.
I suspect it helps if you run a hallmarked node, too. I have been getting into the right block on my attempts, even when that block was small, and this evening I was finally able to buy. I have been running a hallmarked node for a long time, with enough weight that it was usually in the top 5. I'm sure it used to be in the list of default peers, although it isn't for 1.11.7. I suspect I am still in a lot of other nodes' databases, though. That probably helps with my connectivity, meaning fewer hops between my node and the forging node. It may also help if your node has been running a long time.

Can I run 2 hallmarked nodes under the same account, maybe even copy+paste the settings for it or? I run a hallmarked Pi node but it's too slow for this ICO. My desktop is better suited. If I create another hallmark passphrase the old one becomes invalid though, I assume.
you can, but the hallmarks on each have to be different, as the hallmark corresponds to IP address or hostname.  you can use the same weight for each though, when creating the hallmark.  use the same weight unless maybe if the performance on the 2 machines differ too much

Thanks forkedchain. I created a new passphrase. However, the nodes share the same public IP but the Pi announces a DDNS address. Does this count as different or will there be any problems?

I twill be decided by the timestamp within the block. So, there's an element of luck and you shouldn't max out your Internet connection  ;D

Great update! Kudos to the team.

I've voiced my discontent with how the first rounds have unfolded but this is a great response. You've made the playing field level again.

Can anyone explain why my tx in block 127 got refunded while people in block 128 got tokens?

The whale posted this through his NXT-XJX2-VVBU-XAMC-DQZJ5 account (the one that authorised the phased transactions), just after the third offer completed:
Quote
Hi,

Everyone is thinking i'm using some kind of bot. I'm gonna tell you the truth.
I'm not... for the very simple reason that I wouldn't know how to make one. I'm not a programmer and i don't know how to code.

I work in a movie theater guys...

The reason i'm able to be the first is because I prepared this ICO since weeks before. I learned how it worked, how transactions worked, I read wiki about the API, and learned how to use it.
And more importantly, I tested everything. I used the testnet and tried everything multiple time. I made hundreds of transactions to test all the different possible case.
I even made plan to be ready in case the developers tried to changes the rules at the last minute.

That's what made me able to be the first...i invested time and work. And you didn't.

I'm planning on buying 5 millions additional Ignis at this price level.
But not on the next round, I have to go to work.
He denies using a bot. Given what forkedchain says about the phased transactions in #191, I now think Riker's analysis in the first post of this thread is wrong. He's not monitoring unconfirmed transactions at all. He just submitted a phased transaction for each block in the 30 minute window.

That sounds convincing but it was said yesterday that he had already lined up his phased transaction for each window in advance. How was he able to know the exact block heights for each window in advance? I was under the impression that the block times can vary by a few seconds. If he had the transactions lined up days in advance, those few seconds would add up big time. Maybe he had some buffer transactions added just to be on the safe side.

Because you get 2.5 Ignis for each NXT currently.

You make it sound as if nobody should buy Ignis in the first place...

Furthermore, what makes you sure this guy doesn't sell the bot to his friend or anyone else? There could also be even more bots out there or some people are already coding theirs now that they have seen how it works. Using a bot is against the spirit of this ICO, if not against the T&C. If the legal team is worth a dime they will find a way to disqualify this guy. Otherwise Jelurida will be hurt by this mess for a long time.

How can they legally disqualify the buyer, when Riker stated publicly that it was possible for one whale to buy the entire 5M tokens and that they were not going to try to prevent that from happening? They will be sued if they take back those 5M tokens.

They set the ICO up this way in order to prevent people from using phased transactions. That's how Riker explained it. Ironically, this is exactly what happened. Declaring bots fair game is one thing but phased transactions should be banned. I'm not sure if that's in the T&C though. That's why I said that the legal should go the extra mile to make an argument for it. The PR damage of not acting now will be much bigger than reversing this transaction, which 99% of people feel was cheating.
