Nxt Asset Exchange / Re: BBIOTA (Yet another IOTA gateway asset)
« on: September 20, 2016, 08:01:12 am »
@ blackyblack1 I'm still trying to get my IOTA wallet (v 1.0.5) to sync - as soon as it has, I'll redeem my tokens. Apologies for the delay.

Apologies in advance for such a basic question, but which of the wallet downloads would be appropriate for Windows (64 bit)?

Thanks  :)

Nxt General Discussion / Re: [TNNSE] NXT WIKI - A new start!
« on: June 07, 2016, 10:24:32 am »
Is someone working on the api updates?
It still says 1.5.15 and no significant updates have been made for many months.

I could probably make an effort here, since I have to keep up with api updates for NxtLib anyway, I could just as well write them to the wiki also.
But I see the bounty is taken.
Bump

Sorry NxtSwe, I missed your previous message (I think we all did). The API documentation was claimed by oldnbold, but sadly we haven't heard from him in some time now, so we can consider the job available.

Sending you a PM.

@VanBreuk Although I appreciate it must have seemed like it, I didn't abandon the job - as can be seen from my recent PM to Riker.

Apologies for having been so slow, to so little effect.

@ NxtSwe Thanks for taking the job on - it's good to know that the work is going to get done by someone who knows what they're doing!

Hi Robert,

I changed the API description to reflect that property and value are separate parameters.
I don't think that including a curl example with each API is necessary since we already have the test page http://localhost:7876/test which supports both GET and POST. In addition to the test page, which should be useful in most cases, if you have basic coding skills, my recommendation is that you checkout the NXT code from bitbucket and simply look at the Java source code to easily see the list of parameters for each API.
The API classes are under the nxt.http package.

Thanks for all your help,
Riker

Hello Riker,

Thanks for your message and apologies for the delay in replying.

I've tried several times over the last couple of months to make further progress but have been stymied by my repeated failure to get the deleteAccountProperty call to remove the account properties:

Property       "Country"

Value       “Switzerland”

from NXT-EZQ9-35P5-XZ8C-4LW87

It sounds like it would certainly make it a lot easier to do if I could access/read the Java source code to see the list of API parameters.

However I don't have even “basic coding skills”.

What specifically would I need to learn how to do?

Robert

My recommendation for you is to setup a testnet node so that you can experiment with test data without worrying about breaking up things.
Once you setup up the testnet node by adding the following properties to nxt.properties:
nxt.isTestnet=true
nxt.testnetPeers=178.162.198.109;107.170.3.62
nxt.testnetNumberOfForkConfirmations=0

Restart your node, wait for the testnet blockchain to download, probably few hours, and off you go.
The test page at http://localhost:6876/test is your main tool.
Just submit any transaction you like, observe the error messages and fix them.
The most typical problems are not specifying the fee and deadline fields so make sure you always add fee 100000000 (or more) and deadline 1440 whenever you submit a transaction.

Dear all,

NXTP rewards sent to contributors.

Dividends for March and April 2016 distributed: 45,000 NXT.

Accounting:
march: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1LBiBC2dHMsi8WulkJXLcqWi8_czcQvOl7iX4jaElJBI/edit?usp=sharing
april: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/10o6XHeV3sRgab7MSZnuFZhxEzk4QHQ4eeRq5d5VkyvA/edit?usp=sharing

Belated thanks :)

Thanks for all your time from your busy life (just like all partners)

I don't understand, why one of the most important assets for the NXT community, the only way of media with trusted people envolved, with a lot of work behind and with solid project & information and passes completely unnoticed.

if nobody helps to spread the word of NXT, how are we going to thrive? no way. Lads, things are not done alone
Tennessee just can not have the entire burden, all of us have a bit of responsibility in our investment and therefore Nxter allows "all" languages.

I keep trying to contribute all the time I have. I feel good "working" with you.

@apenzl for President!

+1

I'm afraid I've allowed my Nxt/er involvement to lapse recently.

Need to do better.

It's time to finally distribute that bounty. So it was 2500 SuperNET assets, and right now they are sitting in Digital Catallaxy's account.

I have been thinking about a fair distirbution and propose the following:

Audo: 2000 SuperNET (design, management, content creation)
Robert: 320 SuperNET (editing, content creation)
Proto: 30 SuperNET (proofreading)
qq2536007339: 50 SuperNET (Nxt blockchain statistics)
Dave: 70 SuperNET (reviewer of Nxt sections, a notable contribution to 'Nxt and the Law' article)
Noashh: 30 SuperNET (reviewer of SuperNET sections)

 - EvilDave said "Don't worry about a bounty for the piece, give mine to oldnbold, or the charity of your choice." So now his bounty is heading towards Robert :)

Send your NXT Address to me and I'll send the bounty to you.

- - -

Along with the bounty James generously gave a bonus as well! That bonus is used for marketing and future expenses, thus it will be kept on Digital Catallaxy's account.

Thank you all once more! It's a good report.

More will follow :)

Thanks Audo - that's very fair. Pm sent

And thanks also to EvilDave - I wouldn't say no. In fact financial circs are such that I can't say no! Much appreciated  :)

Understood re the original image - I'm sure there'll be other occasions where it could be useful to set out nxter.og's position re the issue of regulation.

As regards the new image, PM sent

On http://nxter.org/category/nxt-2/articles/ the image (where it appears at the top of the page) is partly obscured by the article's introductory text and lower down the page, where it appears again, it's too small to read.

Given that can't be changed, perhaps we could include the image (fully sized) in the body of the article itself.

I tried doing this myself but the image is too small to read. ???

Arthur, the ESMA article has now been published but so far without the pic. I couldn't resize it so that it all fitted into the available space (tho' I did manage to edit out the "Re").

Here are the suggested draft emails to be sent from info@nxter.org respectively to info@intesasanpaolo.com and info@esma.europa.eu once the featured image has been correctly set.

                                               -------------------------------

Subject: Intesa Sanpaolo's response to ESMA's call for evidence on 22 April 2015 regarding “Investment using virtual currency or distributed ledger technology”

Hello ESMA,

In the interests of regulation being made, as far as possible, on the basis of full and accurate information, you are respectfully referred to the following article "The regulatory process: if you're not at the table, you're on the menu" http://nxter.org/the-regulatory-process-if-youre-not-at-the-table-youre-on-the-menu/ which, on 29.11.2015, was published on nxter.org, an online journal that publishes news and views on NXT and its potential as a token, cryptocurrency and economic ecosystem:

An email has also been sent to Intesa Sanpaolo notifying them of the article's publication.

Nxter.org recognises the need for regulation that is:

* transparent,

* simple,

* achieved at minimum cost, while fostering competitiveness, growth and jobs,

and which does not:

* stifle innovation,

* protect vested interests, or

* compromise the potential of independent, genuinely decentralised blockchain technology to democractise financial power worldwide.

Regards,

                                                      --------------------------

Looks good.

Re the ESMA article, I'll post the suggested emails to ESMA and Intesa later today for comment.

I doubt ESMA will respond, but Intesa could well do so and/or post commentary on the article, which could be interesting :)

Arthur, your reference to “political comment” prompts the thought that maybe we should consider a toned-down, nuanced alternative to “nxter.org supports...”

Possibilities include:

nxter.org would not campaign against...

nxter.org recognises the potential benefit of...

nxter.org recognises the need for...

nxter.org accepts the need for...

Of the alternatives, I think “nxter.org recognises the need for...” works the best, though of course including any of them would mean more work on the graphic.

And at the further risk of turning :) into >:( the last line would read better as:

“Correcting any and all inaccuracies”

17
NXTER.ORG / Re: Main thread
« on: November 27, 2015, 04:52:13 pm »
Does this look official?  :D

"correcting certain inaccuracies" ... couldn't help it

It does  - perhaps too much so  :D Let's hope ESMA has a sense of humour about the use of its logo ;)

Joking aside though, what message do we want the graphic to convey about Nxt's attitude towards the regulatory process?

Currently the graphic in effect states that Nxt corrects inaccuracies in the evidence on which regulation is based which implies that Nxt accepts the need for regulation but the question is begged: what sort of regulation would Nxt accept?

The problem (if indeed it is a problem) is that there's no single unified attitude on the part of the Nxt community to anything, perhaps especially not regulation.

However we could express a distinct and tenable attitude on behalf of nxter.org and use the graphic to do so.

I suggest removing ESMA's logo and replacing it and the wording currently underneath it with the following wording:

----------------------------------
Nxter.org supports evidence-based regulation that is:

* transparent,

* simple,

* achieved at minimum cost, while fostering competitiveness, growth and jobs,

and which does not:

* stifle innovation,

* protect vested interests, or

* compromise the potential of independent, genuinely decentralised blockchain technology to democractise financial power worldwide.

----------------------------------

The 1st 3 bullet points (which ESMA should certainly recognise) come from here: "Joint letter to European Commission First Vice President Frans Timmermans on EU better regulation", which as it happens was only sent yesterday, so we can portray ourselves as being right up to date (as indeed of course we are).

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/480401/eu-better-regulation-letter-timmermans.pdf

At the bottom of the graphic, adjacent to the Nxt logo, change the words "Correcting certain inaccuracies" to "Correcting all and any inaccuracies".

Keep the rest of the graphic as it is.

Although the graphic, as amended, would be wordy, that's consistent with people's general perception of regulation so that shouldn't in itself be a problem.

The graphic could also be used in any similar articles in the future - i.e. where we're seeking to correct inaccuracies about Nxt contained in the responses to other calls for evidence by regulatory bodies.

Just been re-reading the Intro - makes me want to join Nxt all over again!

Thanks for your great editing work on all the English content!
And for the last article of the book - we must publish it on nxter.org too, so it can be linked to directly.

My pleasure :)

Perhaps the book version could contain a selection of any relevant/insightful comments received in respect of the articles.

Re the ESMA response article, it just needs an image and it's ready to go.

I think links to it should be sent to Intesa Sanpaolo and to ESMA itself. I'll draft a covering email for your approval. Perhaps it could be sent from info@nxter.org under my name as author/editor.
