Nxt General Discussion / Re: Price speculation
« on: January 10, 2017, 11:16:38 am »
Still holding 100% after all this time.
Ready to ride this to the moon or the bottom of the ocean. Both NXT & Ardor.

This is nice and clean, like it. The other logos (iterations on slanting this) are not working for me. Now prefer this in some color combination. This one works.

Much better now!  :)

I don't like gradients, so I would go with a solid red one but with one color only.

@peter: IMHO you can show the logo without the name, if it gets too small (like an icon).

I'm fine with the solid red. As I said, i's an extremely close second for me. :)

I've thought about the solid black logo for a while. IMHO it's too blocky, please consider using a very dark grey instead! A dark grey would work very well with a little bit of carmine red (just to make it more interesting, an eyecatcher), try this color on the lower right block. Could be a bit fancy while keeping the professional touch at the same time.

Sorry, didn't have the time for a mockup until now!

That's what I was talking about:

Yes! This solved many problems! Adding the full name to the bottom worked out really well. Red is fine as well. ARDOR is a warm/hot word.

I dig this new iteration - thanks for your hard work!

Hello everyone.

First, I want to thank everyone who gave feedback for the logo I last presented. Yes, even the ones that provided no constructive feedback together with it. I'm not being sarcastic - I used it to set a direction for these updated versions. If you haven't read the thread yet, please go here.

Unfortunately, I had no time to test. All the people I used to test the drafts and the last submitted logo were either asleep or at work and I wanted to get this out now. I decided to keep the design as it was, for the most part, as I felt that was the main key to the positive reviews from those people. Here's the feedback from the last thread though as I feel that they still carry over for the most part.

"It embodies a distinct and visually appealing sentiment. It's more digestable and clean and thus I don't get caught up in the details." - Financial Analyst at a Fortune 100 Company

"Gives a sense of being quick. Strong and tech-focused." - International Environmental Specialist

"Clean and easy to process." - MSc in Marketing Student

"The logo of the platform is really appropriate for the nature of the organization. The colors and font of the 'A' give a tech feeling and the name itself gives a feeling of stability as well!" - Social Entrepreneur

"It is a simple, yet elegant and symbolic logo that pertains uniqueness in its own." - CTO of a Multimillion USD Startup in Medical Technology

"Really grabs my attention. However, it's not intimidating." - Intergovernmental Organization Fellow

"Nice colors, which somewhat match the Chinese flag. Works for what it's meant for and quite powerful." - International Marketer with a Focus on China (said that Ardor will be hard to pronounce, but the Chinese would probably see it as something strong)

"Eye-catching, distinctive, and professional. Overall, it signals a true sense of value." - Economics Professor with a focus on Banking, Foreign Exchange, and Financial Inclusion

I realized though that some things weren't clear regarding the logo design process as well as the direction of Ardor itself. As stated by the press release presented by damelon, Ardor is a platform. We're going to be presenting Ardor to businesses in a wide-range of industries, governments and educational institutions of various sizes, NGOs of various causes, and of course, the everyday user. When I picked these people to quote and the many more whom I tested the logo with, they weren't just random and they weren't just for the name. I picked them because I felt that they would best represent the target market Ardor has with the limited resources I had. No, I did not just send them logos and asked for their one-line response. I talked with them, gathered information, got a feel of what they thought of Bitcoin, blockchain technology, and of course, what Ardor will offer. I guess what I'm trying to say here is that we're trying to be appealing to polarizing groups and organizations and I had to take into consideration how people of various industries would see it.

I admit - there were some faults in the logo, which I'm happy that farl4bit and ThomasVeil specifically pointed out. For example, things should've been lined up differently. For the revision, I once again worked with my long-time design partner, Bowasho, who just recently joined Nxt and the NXTChat Slack, to help me. This time, the third person was not involved. We came up with three different logos.

Quick note: I think with or without "Ardor" below them would be okay either way.

As I said in my responses to the feedback, I'm not too strongly against the blue version, though I think the red version will work best for brand moving forward. Personally, I like the black one, but I know that the red one would fit and perform better. Here's the breakdown of the logo in more detail:

Red - This ties-in very well to the meaning of the word "Ardor". It is commonly associated in lots of places in the world, though not all, with passion, enthusiasm, and zeal. All close synonyms of the word Ardor. Also, red is appealing to the Chinese - a market we're desperately trying to tackle. Now, that shouldn't be a main reason, but it's a boost that we should consider. One of the main reasons I have for not wanting blue is that we want to further differentiate Ardor from Nxt. Also peter2615/peter2516 helped me realize that Lisk is also using blue already. Yes, the DAO uses red too, but people think of ETH more than they do the DAO even when the DAO itself is the one brought up in the news. That said, the list of pros and cons of red and blue are numerous, which is why even if I prefer red, I won't be completely against blue.

Strong Image - There were some comments regarding the "blocky-ness" of the logo, but I decided to keep it. It shows strength, which coincidentally works with our pitch that Ardor is more secure and stronger than Ethereum.

Font - Larke Neue seemed to work best for this. We tried the Gill Sans MT Std Medium font, but the R didn't work too well. Lowercase letters of both didn't fit with the icon and the image that we were trying to have.

Current Color Selection - After looking at gold and red or blue too much, I just got tired of it. Bowasho suggested it earlier, but I kept pushing that we needed to include it. Then, after looking at red and yellow for enough, I realized that it wasn't really going to work. It wasn't "modern" enough. Initially, we went with single color, but futurist suggested a mix, so we tried that and it worked out well. The solid red was still okay though and comes in at an extremely close 2nd, but personally, I still prefer the all-black version :)

Moving the Name Down - The "A" became too restrictive. Moving it down freed up the font restriction and allowed me to implement ThomasVeil's suggestion of a thinner font.

There were some feedback given by others on slack and the previous thread that I feel that I should address. Here are my responses below as I feel that more people felt that way or will feel that way with regards to certain elements of the logo:

1) UI Integration - This was mainly if a red logo was chosen. This isn't a problem and it can be worked on. It won't take a long time to replace the elements of the current UI and the other graphic people and I can create them. I wasn't around during the creation of the graphics of the current system, but it gives us something to work off of. Also, not everything that is blue will be switched to red. I don't have the specifics yet, but I'm confident that it can be done. We have about one year and I think that's more than enough time.

2) "It looks like a truck company" - This stuck with me more than the person who said this probably thinks. I was confused as to how that came about. During testing, it wasn't brought up for this one. Now, what people associate certain images with can be unique. For example, I have a negative association with the Slack logo because the # key on my phone didn't work for a year. None of you probably have that negative association with the Slack logo. Anyway, the more I looked at it, the more I saw it, especially when some other examples were brought up. So, to the person who brought up this comment, thanks.

3) "It's crap/It sucks" - First, I'd like to thank damelon, wolffang, and nxtswe for defending me when this was said. I hope this doesn't encourage the behavior of saying this to someone they barely know, especially without providing any concrete feedback at all or suggestions for improvement, but this actually helped me. It made me play a stronger devil's advocate for the logo that I initially posted. It's helped me realize that we needed to take out the gold/yellow bit. As stated in the last thread, saying stuff like this to me has no effect, so don't worry about it. Other people may not be as desensitized though.

I personally prefer the mixes, and I might regret doing this, but here's the solid ones without any mix with black

The red and black one here should be the same throughout.

Moving Forward
I'm not sure how to proceed now. Whether this goes on a vote If I had my choice on what I think is best, based off of my own knowledge and the results from the tests that I've done, I'd go for the red logo with the black shadow, but the solid red and solid black come very close second. If we decide to go on a vote of sorts with other designers chipping in, I won't be against that, but we need to have the deadline by tomorrow. The only thing I'd like to ask is that when presenting your logo, please sell it to the community by pointing out why this and why that cause otherwise I'll just look like a twat :)

Once again, thanks to farl4bit and ThomasVeil for the specific and helpful feedback. Thanks too to apenzl and evildave, as well as mzvd, futurist, and yassinnxt on the main Slack channel, for providing substantial feedback late at night as Bowasho and I worked through the logo. It wasn't late for Bowasho as he's in Australia, but it was his day off :)

Not sure I can put it in words,

A is a strong letter in this font, like a heavy triangle. This creates a large base that, with this color scheme, looks really heavy to me. Especially in the way that the A interacts with the other letters (and their font) in the word ARDOR. The A is easily overpowering the other letters (which is ok, since A is the logo which can be abstracted out).

I wish there was a way to darken and stream line the entire thing. Maybe if the A interacted with the rest of the word somehow - say, if there was a way to connect the A to the rest of the word graphically (and if that entire letter somehow had its weight distributed more evenly across the word).

The thickness of the lines in A just overpower the rest of the LOGO. Which can be ok, just, for this application I think it looks very heavy.

But, listen, doesn't mean the logo can't work long term. Many logos look wrong at first glance and become iconic.

Thanks for the hard work.

Don't think it's a good logo for a tech company/tech.
Color scheme is bad, IMO. Logo is not streamlined enough, looks heavy - like a cement or heavy machinery company.

It's not horrible. Just, not sure it works for this space.

Thanks for the feedback rtrtcrypto. Can you be a bit more specific though about it looking heavy?

Ardor in blue  ??? It's weird because the word ardor is more red.

I think it's more about a connection to Nxt. Though yes, I agree, it's more of a "red word" than a "blue word", in my opinion.

Do we have a 1-click MAC install (as we used to?)
Can we set up a second password?

I have some stake to throw at this or a safe/known pool (suggestions?)...

is there a way to check account/contents like NXTREPORTING used to do?

Is WAVES for real? These guys can't even get the crowdsale part of the coin to work - getting errors on a simple LOG IN screen. Can't generate a password because of errors, etc.
Sry, I'm out.

Was thinking last week to invest too but they dont have anything but a website that isnt even stable...

I have been waiting for more than 24h for my "confirmation mail"...still waiting...where is Tosch!?  :D

Guys, we have our ICO site live )

Core Development Discussion / Re: Nxt 2.0 design

I was only worried about the NXT balance itself. Looks like it will be 1:1, good.

Will I (us all) get the airdrop? Not sure where that discussion went - curious if I will lose all my stake in the super-chain.

Hoping the ratio will be 1-1.

Would be a shame to see NXT pivot and not respect the shares/equity of those who have remained loyal. 1:1 is what is fair and also what will keep morale and support high(est).

Would love to see this! Thanks!

Hey guys,

We are already in the works of launching SAE  2.0 (old stuff, new front end, added features).
I'll try and see if we can sustain adding this too to the project. If its only server issues, I am glad to host this for you.
Please do let me know if there's space for any sort of collaboration.

I put a call to the forum with an offer to sell 500k NXT. No PMs. So, my offer to sell was not taken and failed to generate any interest.
Not sure how that is not an offer.
I will just hold on to them longer, I even stated it was ok. Not sure what you'd like to hear here.

In NY state.
I only use coinbase and that doesn't help me here.

Seems like no one was interested, so I will withdraw my offer.

Thanks for reading,
It's not an offer if you don't put it up for offer...
If you put a market offer it would have filled in, otherwise it is normal that it might take a while to get filled in...

It's like saying you will go for a swim and not even doing this:

However I do think its a bad time to go swimming...

yeah, I tried that... nothing happens.

Opens and then just WHITE/BLANK screen.

That thing was amazing, it's gone now?
Are there any one-click clients available for MAC?

I tried one now (the sticky at the top here)... but it did not run.

I suppose I could use the superBTC route. Had not thought of dealing with the AE.
Being that I'm willing to use an escrow I didn't think it necessary to prove anything - I've been on these forums a long time also. I don't want to deal with exchanges, so I won't be going that route.

I'm in no rush to sell. 500k NXT for 10 BTC would be ok.

Looking to sell, escrow is a must... will sell for BTC or ETH.

PM if interested.
