Ardor General Discussion / How to re-download the blockchain
« on: June 11, 2019, 12:27:51 am »
I've been on a fork for the past 2 weeks and I can't seem to get off it.  I've reloaded the client (version 2.2.3) several times and deleted everything I can think of and nothing works.  The client just tells me it is downloading the blockchain but it's been doing that for days and days.  "17010 blocks left" it says and that number only goes up.   I am currently connected to 8 peers and 6 of them have up to date clients.    At this point I'd be fine with redownloading the entire blockchain if I could find a way to delete it off my computer.  I'm running on a Mac.  Any help would be appreciated.

(Faithful NXTer and ARDORer for 5 years now.)

Slack sucks, I've said it a thousand times. What would it take to get Jelurida to start posting here?  That should get some people to come back.  Why doesn't anybody realize how crappy Slack is?  Is somebody at Jelurida making money by keeping Slack busy?  Makes no sense to me.

I've been stuck on a fork for about 2 weeks and can't seem to get my client back on track.  Anybody have any suggestions?  I've tried deleting the client and reloading without luck.  Should I just delete the entire database and start over?  If so, how, again do I do that?

AEUR / What is this MrTango thing?
« on: January 29, 2018, 02:06:27 am »
I'm looking into AEUR and now I learn I need to open an acct with MrTango.  What is this?  A bank?  Some dude in his basement?  I ran in to a snag when I went to verify my identity.  Can not someone from the US open an account?

Ardor General Discussion / Where to buy Ardor?
« on: January 24, 2018, 03:06:16 am »
I used to use Poloniex but they are still not up and running for Ardor trades.  Bittrex isn't creating new accounts also and so what's a guy to do who is now ready to strart buying more Ardor?

Correction, I  can deposit bitcoin on Poloniex and even buy Ardor but cannot withdraw the Ardor.  I don't like that as it is too risky IMHO.

Nxt General Discussion / Get ready to buy
« on: January 09, 2018, 03:46:26 am »
NXT and Ardor are finally dropping.  This is the natural order of crypto and it WILL rise again.  I plan on letting them drop over the next couple of months and then buying.  Based purely on my own experience with crypto,  Ardor will likely stabilize at about $0.50 and NXT at $0.05.

We shall see...

Nxt General Discussion / IGNIS on any Exchanges yet?

Does anybody know if IGNIS is traded on any exchanges yet?

Ardor General Discussion / When will Ardor main net be available?

Anybody have an idea of this?

Nxt General Discussion / ArdorPortal Please
« on: December 29, 2017, 01:57:51 am »
I love nxtportal and use it daily.  I especially like the globe view as I can watch as new users start using NXT and see where everybody is located.

I would like to make an open request to the webmaster of nxtportal to please create a similar website for Ardor.

Nxt General Discussion / Ghost town
« on: September 22, 2017, 02:06:09 pm »
Oh, nxtforum is a ghost town nowadays.  I keep wondering why people prefer slack.  It's painful to try and follow a topic there and lots of information gets lost in the noise. Maybe it's the bright lights and shiny objects.  Maybe it's just because it's different. Sigh.....  :(

Nxt General Discussion / Superwhale
« on: September 20, 2017, 02:00:24 pm »
check out NXT-4RU9-TNCT-F3MU-8952K on nxtportal.  Superwhale at it's finest.  Dominating the forging with almost 40% of the power.

This is not in the spirit of crypto, guys......and it's all because of the design of the IGNIS ICO.  I hope it was merely a mistake and not a deliberate ploy to destroy NXT;  but the outcome is the same. Who would buy NXT now?

Nxt General Discussion / Buying bitcoin
« on: September 13, 2017, 04:28:45 pm »
Where does everybody go to buy their bitcoin?  I have been using Coinbase (who are reasonably priced) but was curious if there are any other places that don't charge a premium.  I went up Bitcoin of America and they wanted $4135 per bitcoin when the going rate is $3800.  Seems like a ripoff.

Nxt General Discussion / Jelurida, don't ride this into the ground.
« on: August 05, 2017, 07:53:35 pm »
I changed the name of this thread to be slightly less harsh.

Just stop the ICO and keep the IGNIS with Jelurida.  Better to give more than 0.5 IGNIS/NXT at Ardor launch than continue with this ICO.  The loss of reputation is going to have long term consequences.

Nxt General Discussion / Poloniex Down
« on: August 03, 2017, 03:30:13 am »
And that's why I never leave any significant amounts on exchanges. I make my trades and immediately move my crypto to my own wallet.  I'm so glad NXT has a decentralized asset exchange.

Nxt General Discussion / Spamming the network
« on: July 19, 2017, 03:26:09 pm »
A question for the Devs....if the fees were set to zero and then someone started spamming the network with loads of unconfirmed transactions, could it lock up NXT or would they just be ignored? Is there an order by which transactions would be included in the next block if there were ever more transactions than space available in the block?  I forgot the max number of transactions that can be included in a block.

I ask because I am still interested in allowing the forgers to set their own fees, ignoring any transactions that don't meet their minimum fee to be included in a block.  If zero fees could cause a DOS attack, obviously there would need to be a minimum to prevent this.

Thanks in advance.

Nxt General Discussion / IGNIS ICO
« on: July 19, 2017, 02:51:30 pm »
Looking at the schedule on https://www.jelurida.com/ico, what prevents some whale from scooping up all the cheap IGNIS in one fell swoop?  I am reminded of trying to buy concert tickets when they all get sold out in the first 30 seconds after they go on sale.

Oh, and by the way, Slack still sucks.  I can't follow any conversations, and I don't really see any advantage over this forum.

Nxt General Discussion / Still can't figure out IGNIS and bundling
« on: June 13, 2017, 03:50:08 am »
So I've downloaded ARDOR testnet and have been tinkering with it.  I understand how the ARDOR chain works because it is just like NXT.  Here are a few questions....

Why is IGNIS creating all these empty blocks? I thought no block would be created on the child chain unless there were transactions to process.

I can't figure out the bundling.  Is there a tutorial out there that can explain things simply?  Seems to me that it could be simpler.  If I am running a bundler, am I competing with all the other bundlers?  Why don't I just turn on my bundler and set my fee very low, process my own IGNIS transaction, and then turn off my bundler?

Any help is appreciated.

Nxt General Discussion / Setting fees should be easy.........
« on: June 01, 2017, 02:11:53 pm »
If someone is forging in NXT, can they set their node to only forge transactions that have a minimum fee attached? Does this feature already exist and I just don't know about it?  Then, if it's their time to forge a block and there are no transactions that include their minimum fee, they would forge a block without including those transactions (an empty block).  This would incentivize people to raise the amount they are offering to include their transactions in a block.  If someone wanted to forge all transactions for free, that would be their option.

There has been a lot of talk about ARDOR fees and child chain block fees and frankly, I'm getting lost.  It seems to me we should set all fees at the discretion of the forger.  If his fees are too high, he'll never forge a block with transactions in it and he'll lose out on whatever was being offered.  If the person requesting his transaction be included in a block is offering too low of a fee, he may have to wait for a forger willing to accept his price, and he may never have it included.

If somebody tries to spam the network with zero-fee transactions, they may never get included in a block, and should eventually disappear.  Also, NXT should have a feature that if your transaction is not included in a block after 1440 blocks, it is deleted.

Nxt General Discussion / Suggestion - set a max forging stake
« on: May 22, 2017, 09:50:43 pm »
I've often thought it would be a good idea if the maximum stake you could forge with were 1M NXT.  It would encourage whales to spread out their stake to multiple nodes if they wanted to achieve all their forging power.  If they didn't, then smaller stakeholders would stand a better chance to forge blocks and this would encourage more participation in the nxt ecosystem.  Forging won't make you rich but I still enjoy seeing blocks produced my account.  It's satisfying.

Nxt General Discussion / Slack sucks
« on: May 21, 2017, 01:02:19 pm »
I tried it. I really did. Sure, you can get all fancy with the graphics and emojis, but conversations get jumbled together in the same channel. So I'm back here and I hope more people follow me. In 2014, when NXT was a mere baby, nxt forum was thriving and all my questions were answered easy.  With Slack, everybody is talking on top of each other.   It's a terrible way to communicate with a team.
