Nxt General Discussion / ardors link to nxt
« on: July 27, 2016, 01:10:34 pm »
How is the Nxt token linked to the main chain of ardor? is there such a link? Is ardor in any way dependent on the nxt blockchain?

hey guys what do you think about steemit? it is a really interesting platform, it resembles reddit. I posted about nxt 2.0 there check it out! :)

https://steemit.com/crypto-news/@sydneysweden/ardor-or-nxt-2-0-a-scalable-child-chain-platform

also you can earn a lot of money there, I have earned 400 dollars on one post :D

good presentation, you are a really smart guy damelon, I am glad you are one of the leaders of the nxt community.

Your unorthodox background probably gives you an edge in the crypto community. One of the important things when presenting something in the cryptospace is to present it succinctly and in a way non-technical people can understand, I think you accomplished this task well!

5
marc you are misinformed, nxt 2.0 will in fact help the asset exchange and make it even better, I am too tired to post the details hope someone else does.

Bas, you have ZERO results in growing the userbase on our blockchain.

Let me repeat that: ZERO, in fact we LOST users. LOST.

So, if you are really working on that, than you are failing miserably!

Can you see that?

Also, I would like that you stop reporting here about how you are talking to businesses to sell private licenses, because that is not OUR business.

It's your business, and the developers their business.

We the coinholders have NO shares in such ventures.

If you want that, setup a company, and sell shares to the coinholders.

Or make the coinholders also owners of the IP you sell.

Please Bas, wake up about the conflict of interest that is so wide here between developers, you, and the coinholders.

We have to align our interests, if we want to work together for the same goal!

Marc you are getting pretty rude here with Damelon, I think he is not to blame for nxts price.

there are very few here who know as much about crypto as jean luc, the masses have enough power with the staking.

I hope you damelon and jean luc don't get discouraged here I support your work, and the funding of the tennessee project shows that the community here supports damelon.

Damelon you show a lot of patience, I am glad you are one of the leaders in nxt community, the forum here can get pretty toxic sometimes.

My opinion is that the core developers and nxt foundation have to be bold, and stake out a path for funding the development, using only the votes as advice not command. The funding of other cryptos is much higher than nxt, this is one of the reasons for nxt lagging behind.

« on: April 04, 2016, 10:23:04 pm »
Great plan, i hope something fruitful comes out of this.

Also, I must say I agree with Brangdon most people here don't have a clue about the technology and how it works, I fail to see why they should have a vote here, we talked about this previously here:
https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/crowd-funding-without-ipo/msg214332/#msg214332

I don't think someone explaining this would solve the problem. since I don't know the intricacies of cryptocurrency I would just vote for the option that jlp would think is the best. this is the only real problem I have with your proposal.

Good luck!

this is one of the reasons i like that nxt is not democratically run. People like Dameleon and jlp understand that taking nxt out of peoples acount which don't check them every six months will kill nxt and any trust big corporations have in it.

Unfortunately regimes can change.  The price of freedom is vigilance.  It would be a lot harder to get a democratic majority to agree to this than a small core of well heeled folks though.

I disagree, democracies inevitably degenerates into mob rule, the greeks understood this thousands of years ago. Most big philosophers in history were also very critical of democracy. Democracies act in the way that whichever politician gives the most handouts gets the vote. The thing with nxt is that the regime is not absolute either there are voters here, they are the stakeholders. So in your example of a bad regime change the stakeholders can stop this, and it is in the interest of the stakeholders to have good people on the top.

there is not a lot of wisdom in the masses. i would rather see nxt run by a technocracy. I myself don't understand programming so i don't see why my opinion should be valid.

if flash already is trademarked blaze is ok too. maybe a new word instead of glow, make it glo or o3b instead of orb.

loom

this thread will go on forever.

14
As mentioned previously on the thread flash. flash i think is a really good name for nxt, simple and easy to remember.

difficult finding a name that fits... i am against any name with coin in it, it will only be lumped with all the other shitcoins if that happens, also very  unoriginal with coin.

I kind of like liminal and nummus.

Core Development Announcements / Re: Base Fee Poll

I agree with you, it is stupid this whole democracy thing. 95% of nxt users down't have the required knowledge to be eligible to vote on a matter like this. It would be better that jl steers the ship in the right direction. JL is doing a good job, if he doesn't we can just choose another leader, it is that simple. I might add that i include myself in this having not enough technical knowledge to vote on this.

Edit: i might add that whales having more weight is a good thing and mitigates to a degree the effect of people with little knowledge voting, but I still think that JL is the man who should decide this.

17
It seems like the major issue here is changes to the core that effect businesses here: https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-6-2/msg199227/#msg199227

I can now really understand why the business side of nxt wants more say in the process. the coredevs have to respect the userspace.

18
I am against this. First of all the majority of the users here have no technical knowledge, so how can they be qualified at all to vote? Secondly this will slow down the development.

I like how it works now an enlightened elite(platos philosopher kings) choosing the path forward for nxt, democracy is overrated.

Voting for WHAT should be added and HOW it should behave is useful and lots of product development uses this...

What you don't get to vote for is HOW it is implemented...

Implementation does need to be guided by consultation within a technical community and its a process of dialog, debate and sometimes compromise between the product team and the users of the product... This is what I believe TNSSE is looking to implement.

Ok, I am wary of the wisdom of the masses. Cryptos are a very complicated thing and depending on the features nxt implement means that nxt can go many different places. It might be ok to have it just to check the pulse of the community, but to let the devs have the ultimate say.

If voting had to be implemented I like the idea of those who donated a substantial sum to fund the development are the only ones allowed to vote. This will mean that the people who vote probably have a better understanding of the platform plus there is more money for development.

19
I am against this. First of all the majority of the users here have no technical knowledge, so how can they be qualified at all to vote? You say they will vote on the feature, but the feature is extricably tied to the technical stuff. Secondly this will slow down the development.

He has some interesting criticism of the increase block size proposal. I don't really know whether to be pro or against increasing block size after reading this. Can anyone comment on this? this has implications for nxts future that is why i posted it here.
