It can't be said that business will be as usual from that point. It would be similar to saying Europe will be business as usual after the influx of millions of r(ap)efugees.

a day has passed and nobody said anything to "rapefugees" yet? are you facilitating racism here now?

that reutilization of 'okay' had me thinking of southpark :)

other than that video was well done ofc (not here to discuss content).

sorry for the late reply, i don't regularly check here anymore.

thats interesting. what is that black and white tape? it looks like an encoder strip? what is it for?

i'm currently building my 2.0 dtg. i intend to emulate the pe signal with an arduino. its on my list, but further down the list of things to solve. my current priority is to get the transmission from dc motor to stepper motor perfect. i have working code that is a possibly too slow, as it is using the accelstepper library. i'm currently reading up on direct port manipulation.
i also dismembered my dtg to built a wooden prototype for my new one.

i intend to publish my code and rough built plans once the prototype is working. this project is likely not going to happen here, so this thread and sub board was moved to the 'old and inactive projects' section at my request. this thread seems quite popular for people from outside this forum, so i will post a link to a blog or a new home when the prototype plans are ready to be published.

i have email notifications on, so if you want to get in touch you need to write a private message. otherwise your questions will go unnoticed.

codewise, are you going to work with kushtis scorex as a point of origin?

there is only bcnxt's plan, which included sc. the current dev team stopped sticking to it a while ago.
this is the closest you will find to a vision from the dev team: https://nxtforum.org/core-development-discussion/nxt-2-0-design/

those posts you read must be very old. nobody in charge is working on sc and even if someone else was working on it, it won't be added (happened previously). it has been asked a lot lately, however you will not even get a statement on the matter by the dev team.

How about Blocknet?

I see there was some ann in bitcointalk but haven't followed the project.

The name blocknet sounds cool and is somewhat similar to what NXT 2.0 is trying to achieve.

blocknet was some kind of umbrella for several coins. similar to supernet. would be very confusing to use that name.

there seems to be a simple solution to mitigate the risk of destroying the asset ecosystem:

make assets be traded in fNXT.
This would require storing the ask/bid orders on the fNXT chain as non-prunable transactions, and those make the bulk of our transaction volume. And making the AE transaction types different from the other child chain transactions, another compromise I cannot do.

what compromise are you willing to do then?

sc will not happen anytime soon. maybe in 1-2 years, if the dev team changes their mind.

where is NEXT gonna end up when that new coinomat chain becomes a reality?

Perhaps it can be nuanced somewhat. A slow release of available fNXT over time, perhaps. I think it's worth exploring more though?

Frankly, I think we have bigger fish to fry. I say let the market forces distribute the fNXT after a 1:1 initial distribution (I still recommend my KeepAlive property idea for better initial distribution) , I don't see a big risk of centralization since there is no significant advantage to size here.

Centralisation was only one issue. The main question here is the unknown and unknowable effects of creating 1bn new tokens on the existing financial ecosystem, particularly the asset exchange. Surely we cannot just take the line that 'It will probably be ok' and risk razing all that to the ground in the interests of creating a platform that is really well positioned to scale?

Is this a situation where this discussion is just a farce and the devs have already decided and we are just being dumbasses for thinking otherwise?

After seeing the bitcoin core devs give everyone the middle finger, I'm sensing the same type of attitude in this thread. Can someone tell me if I am right or wrong about this?

i saw it as such in the beginning, but i think we reached a point where a discussion can begin and concerns are taken seriously. maybe i'm mistaken tho :)

i don't want to pay anyone. my idea was to use the nxt community and get advertising for free. we all have an account there.
ill see if i can get this started next week.
to manage a campaign over at bitcointalk and bother with shill and spam users would be a nightmare task and i wouldn't want to do that.

I would agree not to pick a name that somebody else uses. That's also the spirit of the law. I believe NXT wasn't chosen to conflict with anyone on purpose.

hate to dig up bcnxt stuff, but if i recall correct nxt was chosen as a _temporary_ name. the community later decided to keep it. i'm thinking the implications were not clear at the time and with everything else going on (nxt pumping, literally everything pumping) it seemed like easy going and not important. things have changed, we have evolved, learned and organized. we shouldn't make the same mistakes again, when an opportunity to improve presents itself.

i personally think the name is just ok, not great, not original. what its got going for it is the awesome logo.

you jinxed it  ;D

Has it happened to any other cryptocurrency? I don't think so.

'coinye', was a kanye west spoof coin during doge hype days. maybe there are others, that didn't go public.

probably here: https://nxtforum.org/trading-exchanges/

you can also mention it here: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/price-speculation/
altho that thread is named 'price speculation' its more of general chat thread. in normal times it has the most views.

i'm not a mod, so i cant rule out that a mod might not like it outside the trading section. in the past it wasn't an issue.

could you post the equation where a hard fork changing fundametals is factored in?

imo you're totally reaching now to make your point lurker.

i have recently revived my bitcointalk account and i saw all those signature campaigns that are running. i wouldn't want to organize something paid with spam users, but most of us have a bitcointalk account. maybe we could create something pretty and get nxt some more exposure over there without opening threads and 'shilling' for nxt?

can be visible but not will. had me confused for a moment.

NXT assets will be visible on all chains so the best way to transfer value between chains is buying superBTC on one chain and selling on another. fNXT will not become a parking coin nor storage of the value not will have a high liquidity.

where did you get that from?

e: i mean the part where nxt assets are visible on all chains.
