ANNOUNCEMENT

Hi community,

The distribution of the ORA currency has re-started. The currency is already in circulation, 127 users that sent their assets to the old redemption account have been already honored.

To obtain your MS currency send all you MIC and ORA assets to the ORA currency distribution account: NXT-E26D-DMFT-N8XV-37PBS
They will be redeemed by the ORA currency of the monetary system, ticker: XORA http://nxtportal.org/currencies/6933225670038769986

The deadline to redeem your assets will be announced soon.

Br,
Nxter.

UPDATE (18-June):

The distribution is currently on hold till the community reaches consensus on If either reissue the currency or not.

You may still send your assets to the distribution account and you will receive the currency as soon as the decision is made.

I would like to ask for patience to everyone as this is a long term project. However, if you already sent your assets to the distribution account and you would like them returned to you, please, make this request in this thread or by pm.

Br,
Nxter.

Br,
Nxter.

Outstanding!!

There is no painless birth and the ORA currency seems to verify this.

Unfortunately, the XORA currency was issued with 8 decimals and there it seems to be a limitation in the exchange booth of the NRS monetary system to trade XORA for nxt. The consequence is that It is now not possible to trade the currency for fractions of NXT, which would kill the market.

We have now at least 3 options to resolve this situation:

1- Claim back the currency that has been already distributed in order to reissue XORA with less decimals. This is going be very difficult since XORA has already been distributed to more than 100 accounts

2- Make the XORA currency unofficial and issue a new currency and redistribute it

3- See if the devs can do something about this. See the second point of: https://nxtforum.org/monetary-system/monetary-sistem-exchange-booth-bug/

64bit integer overflow limits what can be done with assets that have 8 decimals.
that is why 4 decimals should be used.

I suggest to restrict assets to having between 2 and 6 decimals, as 0 decimals also creates problems

The issuance with 8 decimal points may not be as big of a problem as you infer.

True, it would seem to set a floor valuation of 1 XORA as 1 NXT.  I don't believe it will ultimately hamper the utility of XORA for shuffling, but does hamper the speculative market.  I disagree with your premise that it would 'kill the market'.  In fact, I believe it eases the transition from speculation to utility.  (Of course for this utility, shuffling must be implemented).

Pros:
1) Boon to XORA holders at >100x increase when compared with ORA asset trading.
2) Sets a peg of 1 NXT for users to shuffle.  Can get in and out (NXT<->XORA) without losing value to buy/sell margins.
3) Increased valuation provides a great incentive for all XORA users to shuffle for the bounties.

Cons:
1) Eliminates XORA as a speculative currency.

My vote is to leave as-is.  (X)ORA can move forward without re-issuance, and ultimately may benefit from this mistake.

Option 4- Continue as it is with XORA

good points!
actually using instantDEX it is possible to get different pricing, even with the asset decimals limitation!

the reason is I use baseamount/relamount instead of a separate price parameter

so by creating different ratios, you can achieve fractional prices that otherwise are not possible

there is no problem as long as XORA is issued so that transferCurrency is working properly

Hey everyone, so SORRY I mucked things up with the 8 decimals for XORA MS! When I issued the XORA I wasn't aware of this problem and just used 8 decimals to match NXT without giving it much thought. Now you guys know why I always ask for feedback, (I ain't that smart lol )

If I'm understanding what James just said correctly it looks like we might be able to progress with the shuffle tech as is without the need for a recall and re-issue, and InstantDEX can handle the 8 decimals anyway. That's a BIG relief all round!!

Thanks again everyone for finding a way forward!!!

Yes, the distribution is on hold until we decide how to proceed..

So we continue with the distribution as it is?  I still think that the limitation with the NRS exchange booth is a big one.

What do the other treasurers think? What about everyone else? I'm happy to proceed if James thinks he can work around the decimal problem, but I do appreciate not being able to use the exchange booth *might* come back to haunt us also. It's not too late to re-issue another MS.

What do people think, have your say!!

edit: is it possible that the NRS exchange booth might be modified in a future release so it can handle 8 decimals?

Probably better to re-issue imo as Nxters script is all set up already and it will only get more complicated if we have to do it later.

I am not fully sure what the issue is with the exchange booth. I have to admit, I haven't spent much time with a NXT Currency yet.
