Dear Nxt forum,

with the release of SuperNET, the Multigateway production servers are now online.

This is another step in the development of the Multigateway project, and brings the main cluster, and the main gateway (BTC) to three independent operators.

Additionally, the specifications and the configuration of the new servers are meant to give better performance and stability to the service than the development servers running it so far. Development and improvements in Multigateway configuration, server monitoring and others will of course keep happening; this is an open, continuous process.

So now we have six different operators in Multigateway:

MGW Cluster #0: Frohike, Abuelau, Coinomat (BTC)
MGW Cluster #1: marcus03, Cobaltskky, jefdiesel (DOGE, BC, VIA)

These six become seven if you consider that James will keep the development servers online for as long as Multigateway users move to SuperNET UI and production servers.

Important Questions

- Any important change I need to know?

Only one: for technical, security and performance reasons, the production servers operate with a new mgwBTC asset ID: 17554243582654188572. Note that the name of the asset hasn't been changed to preserve the naming consistency in Multigateway; the mgwBTC asset ID changes and the asset description now includes a specific reference to production servers. Please see the question below to easily update your mgwBTC.

The other news, of course, is that now the Multigateway UI is integrated into SuperNET.

- How do I use the new MGW servers, and update my mgwBTC?

When you start using the Multigateway page in the new SuperNET UI (release by longzai here) you will automatically start to use the MGW Production servers.
As a user, if you were already using Multigateway or mgwBTC there's only two things you need to do:
  • Generate your new BTC deposit address in the production servers. You can do this the usual way from the Multigateway UI page. After requesting the address, you will receive it and see it displayed in the Multigateway UI in around 20 Nxt blocks.
  • If you own mgwBTC, swap them by sending your old mgwBTC (asset ID 4551058913252105307) to the redeem account NXT-6YQW-HHCG-NATW-DCHJ3. You will receive the same amount of production mgwBTC (asset ID 17554243582654188572). The redeem account is running an asset swap script that automates the process.

- What if I keep using the old Multigateway Plugin?

The previous Nxt Services Plugin runs the old mgwBTC asset with MGW development servers, which currently cannot receive the same maintenance and will go eventually offline once activity ceases. The AE market for the old mgwBTC asset will of course stay online, but trading activity will migrate to the new asset in the following days so it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to SuperNET and swap your assets soon. Currently there's no date limit, however, for the automated asset swap, and for as long as development servers stay online withdrawals from the old mgwBTC asset will still be processed.

- What coins will be supported in MGW production servers?

At this moment, only BTC is enabled so we can follow changes gradually. New UI, new servers and new asset ID; soon afterwards LTC will be online, and other coins will follow.
Also remember that, run by a different triad of operators, Multigateway currently supports DOGE, Blackcoin and Viacoin as well.

- I'm running the SuperNET UI and I keep seeing the old UI version. What is going on?

This is a simple cache issue. Clear your browser cache and open the UI again, or press Ctrl + F5 to force your browser to do a complete refresh in the login page.

Please use this topic for questions about the migration process, we'll try to address every one of them. For questions specifically related to the SuperNET GUI, please post in longzai's SuperNET release topic.

We will update downloads, information and news in https://multigateway.org very soon; with the exception of the new tutorials for use, I expect to have the main website contents fully updated later tonight.

Thank you for using Multigateway :)

This looks very cool!   8)

When I enter the SuperNET Dashboard it reads

Quote
You are not connecting to any coin QT wallet, some basic coin functionality will be disabled

This happens no matter whether I'm running bitcoind or bitcoin-qt.  How can I connect to a wallet?

Cheers.

You will need a modified qt wallet to support this features, treat them as unnecessary now  ;)

Why does this overwrite everything? Not just a ui but the entire nxt core? Is this running the latest version of core? Will we constantly need to use this instead of the official client?

Want to know the same, at least it doesn't work with the 1.3.3 updated database, so I suspect is based on NRS 1.3.2, I have to download the whole blockchain again -.-!

I just tried to copy only the html folder replaceing the folder in official client and it works... should I expect any strange thing? Or the only modified thing is the UI?

How do I install and run this in Linux? I just extracted the file and copied the nxt_db folder from my nxt folder to the extracted folder. Then I went into the directory in the terminal and ran run.sh. It starts but then it automatically stops with the message "Nxt server 1.3.2 stopped." Is there anything else I have to do other than extract and run to get this to work?

EDIT: I deleted the nxt_db folder and now it's running and re-downloading blockchain. Guess I just have to be patient :)

Stop NRS, then (your download and nxt dirs may vary):

Code: [Select]
$ cd /tmp
$ unzip -a ~/Download/supernet-1.3.2.2.zip
$ cd /opt/nxt
$ cp -fax /tmp/supernet-1.3.2.2/html/* html/

Then start NRS again.

Say “yes” to overwrite already existing targets when unzipping.

Then start NRS again.

Worked, thanks

Hi,

Backwards compatibility between Supernet versions please!

Yesterday I installed Supernet on Nxt 1.3.2.2, everything MGW worked like greased lightning. Today, with 1.3.3.1, my Supernet install is broken, indicating Outdated! in Red, indicating to update from (Supernet) Dashboard. But Dashboard is disabled along with all of Supernet features, and now I must restart NRS after a fresh install to 1.3.3 and 1.3.3.1.

What a PITA!

Have you refreshed the browser as mentioned in the release post? Ctrl+F5 in the http://localhost:7876 login page after updating. Or clearing browser cache.

Yes, did all this yesterday: installed Nxt with Supernet with a simple swap of the html folder in the Nxt installation, hit Ctrl F5, logged into Nxt, generated a mgwBTC address, sent BTC from Coinbase to my newly generated mgwBTC address, withdrew BTC from my Nxt account to bter, bought NXT on bter, then withdrew NXT to my account. All steps were flawless and timely.

Today, when I hit Ctrl F5 I get logget out of NRS. Upon relogging in, same issues as mentioned.

Which Nxt version were you running?

You mention that what you did is grab only the GUI folder, /html, from SuperNET 1.3.2.2 (note that 1.3.2.2 refers to the Nxt version it's built with) and move it to your existing Nxt client, which I presume was 1.3.2.

If today you did the same with SuperNET 1.3.3.1, you are running a 1.3.3 /html folder within a Nxt 1.3.2 install, so things may be easily broken.

If due to trust issues you want to use only the /html folder from the SuperNET release, you need to use it within the equivalent Nxt build.
