Is there a bug in the mgw code that is causing servers to crash and not stay in sync? Or is it a platform issue?

I think you can get FREE VPS's from Amazon for like 1 year or something. This way, you can get dedicated servers running the MGW and you don't have to run them locally with iffy connections. There is also Heroku, Azure, Google, etc.

Also, I have a VPS at my brothers hosting service that I only host a blog on, so it is pretty idle. I can host an MGW server on it.

Also, do you run all the coins on the same server, or do you run 3 servers for each coin?

Anything I can do to help with infrastructure let me know. I know this is still beta but other than the people mistakes (using out of date version) it seems like you have been dealing with server issues.

15 hours ago I transfered 50 mgwBTCD. (mgwBTCD->BTCD)
Confimations: 538+
Up to now no BTCD are received  :(

Asset transfer tx: 1540537038924030986
Destination BTCD address: RWg6nyzWu7xsGQHzLar2WZvJfVkK62Roee

Status update:
BTCD not received yet.
Asset transfer was nearly 2 days ago.
believe it or not the BTCD is not caught up yet, I am out of RAM and everything is thrashing ever since I added LTC
I will have to disable LTC support to get back to where BTC and BTCD are able to keep up

Payment received now.
Thx, James!

TX-ID: 15132951124459418799 -> 198 BTCD withdrawal to RQguC177Uu2mg8SzFVf3KaQH63fGUcWRGA

Transaction stuck since yesterday evening. Not important for me to get the coins fast as long as I get them someday.

Received everything. Thanks a lot. Is it working again or should we still stay away from depositing and withdrawing?

there were two problems
I added LTC and that used up all RAM, caused everything to thrash and just not able to keep up in realtime

to make matters worse, I ended up with a test BitcoinDarkd being run and had a bug so I reverted to the original, but that didnt properly support MGW so it didnt work.

If I wasnt so swamped, I wouldnt have made the last mistake, but without LTC I think things will be much smoother

I also trimmed down the cache data to reduce MGW RAM usage

James

P.S. bottomline, MGW should be good to go, but it is on daily monitoring so if anything gets stuck it could be a while

The problems I described in previous post
I did not want to be running MGW on dev servers this long!
the solution is to not be developing on the same servers, but that means to stop developing or stopping mGW
I am distracting myself from developing with IPO this week

OK, this one was strange as none of the MGW servers saw the txid
but it turns out the block explorer must have been on a fork as the txid is not on the blockchain

This required me to go back and forth with the user to get the details and then search all three MGW server logs and not so big of a deal, but my internet is very flakey so I had to relogin 7 times before I could confirm that none of the MGW servers knew about this, plus this acct is very active so needing to sort through that.

turns out it is not on the blockchain, so anybody running a node could just go to debug console and:
gettransaction <txid>

and get an error. so there is no way for MGW to process this (redundancy and automatic fork avoidance and emergency abort)

so PLEASE come up with some sort of first line of support for MGW. I do not mind investigating real bugs, but this sort of pre screening is not something the end user can do. Neither should an overworked dev who hasnt had time to eat anything except 2 bananas all day should either.

I will not do any more MGW support until there is some sort of first line of support in place. This means one or more people who can trouble shoot the most obvious problems and they PM me when there is an issue. I do not mind tracking down real issues. I mind having to do front line support that somebody else can do.

So, from now I will not be monitoring this thread and only responding to PM's about verified issues.

Thank you for understanding

James

When will it be possible to withdraw LTC again?
it breaks the BTCD and BTC to run LTC
how much do you have? I think we can do some manual withdrawing

I agree.

but that means to stop developing or stopping mGW

Or, getting some servers dedicated to the MGW. As I said, you can get (VPS) Virtual Private Servers from several places virtually free or very cheap.

Free tier AWS VPS, or cheap VPSs, hardly fill the specs required for a uMGW cluster, specially the main cluster. Production servers ask for good performance and hardening, and hopefully are almost ready.

So? He's not in production. He is still running on servers that he does other dev work in.

Of course, when it goes officially into production it should be run accordingly. Of course, a "free" micro AWS server can be upgraded to a multi-instance highly available, geo distributed solution with a few clicks of the mouse.

I need help to verify that new 1.2.8 does not break MGW

"The timestamp parameter in getAccountTransactionIds and getAccountTransactions
now refers to the timestamp of the block in which the transaction was included
rather than the transaction timestamp itself. Transactions are sorted in
descending order of block timestamp and transaction id, instead of transaction
timestamp. This is so that the sorting matches the order in which transactions
are processed, and because transactions with earlier timestamps may appear in
the blockchain after transactions with later timestamps have already been
processed, thus being unintentionally skipped while navigating the transactions
list by transaction timestamp."

The above is a good fix, but I had to make some work arounds in the dividending code to make it work with the old method. I think it should still be OK, but since the MGW is using the dividending logic and this affects that we need to completely retest basic MGW operations, especially with multiple pending tx.

I do not have time to do this, so if this is not done and it does turn out to break MGW, then do not blame me. I simply cannot do everything myself and I need help.
