I am taking MGW offline, going to get some rest and hope there will be test results tomorrow.

So at this moment, Multigateway operations are temporarily offline.

The reason is the Nxt blockchain crossed block 213,000 (activating Digital Goods Store and other changes) and that forced a few changes in the Multigateway code that are in process of being tested, to verify everything is working smoothly. For security, James has paused the service until testing is finished.

So, questions you might have:

- Should I deposit coins at this moment?
Please wait until the testing is finished. If you send coins to your exisiting deposit address, the coins will be received but assets will not be credited to your account until MGW is up and running again.

- Can I withdraw coins?
If you request a withdrawal, it won't be automatically processed until MGW is up and running again. So unless it's an emergency, please wait until MGW servers are back up. If it's really, really, really urgent, you can report it here and we'll try to process the withdrawal manually as soon as it's possible. Please note that at this beta stage the MGW service is operated by very few people and everyone's pretty busy verifying the new release, so please wait if possible. Sorry about the inconvenience.

- Can I generate a new deposit address?
You can send the request from Lite MGW if you want, but again, it won't be processed by the MGW servers until they are back online.

- But are my coins safe?
Yes. Operations with mgwBTC/mgwLTC in the Asset Exchange are not affected, your asset amount is not affected, and all the multisignature BTC/LTC accounts are safe as always in the Multigateway servers. The only operations that are on hold at this moment are automated deposits/withdrawals.

- And when are MGW operations going to be working again?
As soon as possible! If we could give a precise time, such as "in eight hours", we would. But it's essential to make sure that the changes in the Nxt blockchain are not affecting any of the Multigateway operations, so for security reasons the MGW operations will be paused until everything looks good. We'll post an announcement as soon as MGW is fully up and working again.

I am hoping someone knows how to update MGW lite to support testing for this.
If this tests out, that means a lot of new coins should be supported as I think it came down the peercoin fork

We're using this pit stop for other improvements besides the security testing for post-DGS Nxt network. Otherwise, the service might have to be paused again soon, and repeated stops would be understandably annoying.

Improvements include activation of BTCD (Bitcoindark) and partial migration to the definitive production servers. It's difficult to give an ETA without being misleading since everything depends on testing results, but we should be back online in very few days.

In the meantime, if you need to withdraw mgwBTC through MGW urgently, you can leave a post here and we'll process it manually as soon as possible.

Another option to exchange mgwBTC for BTC, if you want, is to do a direct exchange with another member (like TwinWinNerD is offering). For as long as MGW stays paused, I will provide free escrow if required for any off-MGW exchanges mgwBTC <> BTC.

As soon as some basic tests are passed, I am open to starting the MGW servers so they can catch up with the pending transactions. However I am worried about the possibility of tx mistakes until all the tests are passed

However if I can get the promise from people to cooperate in case of any glitches, eg. to return any extra assets or extra coins you get so that the people who might get shortchanged could get compensated, then I am more likely to do this sooner than later.

I know I cant get everybody to promise, but if TwinnerD (who seems to have the most volumes!) and a few other peoples can agree to this, I will try to do this MGW clearing in a few hours. Depending on how that goes, I might leave it running in attended mode. That means everytime I lose ISP connection (many times a day), the MGW servers will probably need to be restarted, so the response time will be unpredictable.

I agree to return coin if i receive more than i should. MGW is a must needed tech for nxt. I have passed 2 hours today for transfering nxt to btc for paying a new miner for scrypt asset ... . sooner the better.


Edit: I don't have any deposit at waiting a this moment.

I have seen it catch up and send out deposit addresses, asset xfers and a small withdraw
however it is not balanced yet:

I had to burn 1.04 BTCD as I had some problems getting everything to work post-DGS
Now I could recover this, but it is simply too much work to figure out how to cash in the multisig unspent outputs
just an interesting thing from practical point. Even if two MGW servers get compromised and their wallets stolen, it is still a project to cashout all the hundreds(!) of multisig accts

GUI needs to be rereleased for every NRS update, even if the NRS is backwards compatible. Not sure of details, but I havent seen a release for 1.2.6 GUI, I am seeing BTCD test tx by longzai so I if testing goes well, we will see a GUI release soon

I am used to MGW being exact to the satoshi, but it is off by over one quarter BTC
It appears that a bunch of malformed withdraw requests were done and these are in limbo, the asset received but not sent out, like a tx that is waiting for a referencehash to appear, these are waiting for their withdraw address to appear.
Unfortunately I have no easy way to cancel such limbo tx and messing with the blockchain is not a good idea!

The total limbo amount is: 0.27289999 vs 0.27289999 | adjusted diff .0000000
considering the magnitude of changes, the fact that it still exactly matches to the satoshi makes me feel pretty good

If you are the owner of the bigger limbo amounts I will figure out how to cash it out to you after the transition to production servers.

Based on this result, I think as soon as longzai releases a matched GUI, we can use MGW but keep in mind it is only BTC and BTCD now (LTC is migrating to production servers!) and no uptime guarantee. However, considering that the average withdraw time of the exchanges can easily go into days, or weeks, I hope for your understanding
