Can someone please tell me how long it will be until the MultiGateway is a one/two click easy to use system?

As one of the people out in the world marketing this, I want to get an idea of when the MGW will be so easy to use a caveman could do it. Literally.

It needs to work like https://trade.secureae.com/ without installing anythimg -- with secure https connection.

https will be there soon, mainly aimed for trusted contents and downloads. MGW website was planned simply to host information, downloads and others and not to host an operational, live MGW service, but let's see what we need to get there.

Ok, still hoping to get MGW working today and finally write it up :)
Point of frustration: it was working ok (assuming invisible new deposit address issue resolved on next startup) after re-downloading the client, version 1.1.5. But when I auto-updated to 1.1.6, MGW/services disappeared - even after re-unzipping MGW files to the \nxt\html\ui directory.
Is MGW currently supposed to be used in the browser and untested for Wesley's client?

Yes, there it is. Curious.
Finally: time to play!

EDIT: first time I've ever seen a bitcoin address beginning with a '3'. Is this a Thing for MGW, and if so how/why?

Thanks for fast response. Obviously went through fine but not visible in the client for some reason. Will come back to it in the morning.

How many confirmations/how much time before my newly-generated deposit address appears? It's been 10+ confirmations but nothing.

Edit: maybe some kind of error? In the transaction details:

Still struggling...
I sent 0.01 btc to this address: 3HDwLvuoNoM96QsDBWt6CTHVMvkQkDCkW3
6+ confirmations later, no mgwBTC. I've tried in both Wesley's client and in the browser.
I've had the AM, 10+ confirmations. Nothing. I've also checked the mgwBTC asset in the AE to see whether it turns up there. Again, nothing.
NXT address: NXT-F3YR-55QV-BLQT-H6QSC

Anyone have any ideas? :(

EDIT: It's arrived! I think 3 confirmations is a little optimistic...

It is set to 3 bitcoin confirmations, not 3 NXT confirmations
BIG difference, and depending on timing it can be 4 bitcoin confirmations

Another reason we need EXTREME ease of use, is because we are in direct competition with Counterparty and Bitshares.

KISS - Keep it simple stupid. For us to win this race, which is ALL about network effect, we have to be better all the way around - transaction times, security, and ease of use.

the number of confirmations is settable in the MGW.conf file
However, I cant guarantee what happens if the coin ever goes on a fork bigger than the number of confirmations you set
Also, XCP has 10 minute blocktime after the deposit. NXT is ten times faster. They are no competition, order of magnitude reponse is different level

3 or 6 doesn't bother me, so long as I know what to expect. Just worth flagging up somewhere so new users don't start panicking that their bitcoins have disappeared into the NXT ecosystem with no chance of return. (Better that this happens voluntarily in the end.)

Right. So now we just need to make MGW ridiculously easy to use. Like plug N play easy.

Well, the Lite MGW release simplified usage enormously - it was quite more complicated when NXTservices client was required. But let's see what can we improve.

For MGW setup, Windows is as easy as it gets using the installer. We could produce a Mac installer, although even manual install is copying a file to a folder and unzipping. But I guess you want to go deeper than that.

Since mgwCOINs work in the Asset Exchange, users need the Nxt Client regardless. So the question is whether deposits or withdrawals could also be handled from outside the client, from a webpage without need to run the Nxt Client, for convenience. Problem is, both operations require authentication from the user.

Considering how the MGW software and the UI operate, what do you think could be made easier specifically?

I'm probably an idiot for asking this, but can we have a web based version?

As a Mac user, definitely need a simple Mac client.

There are still one or two things that are confusing me and I don't know whether they are my misunderstandings or glitches with the client. For example, when I updated to 1.1.6 the MGW didn't work (disappeared), even after I reinstalled the zip files.
I'm also not sure whether MGW is available through 1-click installers yet - if not, that would be great to have it working out of the box.
There were lags between bitcoins being sold and balances adjusted. Maybe not something that can be fixed easily.
Don't get me wrong: it's a great effort and I'm really impressed. But unless I was just unlucky, the entry barrier will be a little high for some.

Yes, something like https://trade.secureae.com

It's a bit riskier as if the site is hacked, someone can manipulate javascript. I hope the person running the server is competent.

Chrome extension is easy too  (no installation) and much safer as apps are signed by the developer.

The "Nxt server 1.1.6 started successfully" line indicates Nxt software is initialized. Then you need to access your Nxt wallet at http://localhost:7876 (or using the "Nxt Wallet with MGW Lite" shortcut in start menu, if you used the Windows installer) to access Multigateway in the UI.

This is what I was doing, but it just results in a normal wallet when I run it. I don't see NXT services anywhere

Also, when I try to download the software from here http://multigateway.org/#sec_downloads I get a "xxx is not a valid Win 32 application" error. When I posted before it worked fine, but I thought redownloading might help which isn't working at the moment

I've tried with some 32bit Windows builds and in some cases there is a runtime error with the Windows installer. Solutions:

1.- Download the Lite MGW UI Extension standalone, and unzip manually to /nxt/html/ui if you use the base NRS Client, and to Nxt Wallet/nxt/html/ui if you're using Wesley's executable wallet.
2.- If you prefer to use the installer, please try this Lite MGW BETA v1.2 Win32 Setup I just comp├Čled. It should work fine for 32bit Windows versions in general. I will add both x64 and x86 installer versions in the next website update.
