Please check a deposit of 0.49855 BTC I made to 38TnbGQv2NV93BP5p4UwZnQ74xtkCZoLUn that now has 87 confirmations. It is in block 363983 which has a timestamp of 2015-07-05 19:52:39.

One server needed to be restarted this morning, and it seems to be the one processing deposits for your account. The transaction has of course arrived to the MGW wallets, so you should get the assets as soon as that server catches up - in around 3 hours.

Is this redemption account still active? I sent 1 mgwBTCD yesterday as a test  :)

Is this redemption account still active? I sent 1 mgwBTCD yesterday as a test  :)

Swap has just been sent (tx ID 462310500896971876)

It is always active, but these last days there were no new requests and to be honest I wasn't checking with the same frequency.

Whenever an asset swap is particularly urgent you can send me a message and I'll try to get it done ASAP. However, please note that swaps for larger amounts of assets might take a bit, since we need to access BTCD in old MGW development servers (*). But same as with all the asset swaps requested since the account was started, rest assured that they will be delivered.

(*) Edit - for clarification, small amounts can be usually swapped right away since there usually is a small outstanding balance in superBTCD servers, which allows us to send the superBTCD in advance without breaking the assets vs. unspents positive balance, and before the BTCD are moved from old development servers to SuperNET servers.

Thank you so much VanBreuk, really appreciate it! Sent the rest of my mgwBTCD, no need to hurry though  :)

Please check the mgwBTC servers.

I have two deposits pending. Its only been 2+ hours, but they already have 13 and 14 confirmations. I've made several deposits lately, and when the servers are working right the deposit usually clears right after 6 confirmations.

I do check their logs daily several times. Relatively often with more recent NRS versions, the legacy uMGW code seems to choke on a Nxt block. This morning it happened with the second server, which seems to be the one processing deposits to your address. And when that happens, the uMGW process needs to be restarted, which I did.

So the problem is not that the servers are neglected - the problem is that restart takes around 6 hours to parse historical blockchain information with this old code branch, no way to speed things up. You'll receive your deposits this afternoon, when this server catches up with current BTC blocks.

BTC blockchain is a dinosaur, and it's taken a lot of work to make it work with a new internal chain database. Now when we restart the new superBTC servers (which has been only required to update the code, since the crashes so far have been exactly zero) and they are online in 10-15 minutes, I almost weep in gratitude.

Congrats to the birth of your son!

Thank you :)

Thanks for the detailed explanation, Van. I will be very glad when superBTC is ready. I've been through these delays at least 10 times by now. This time, my deposit is still missing after 9 hours.

And congratulations! I hadn't heard.

Cheers,

Hi

I've made a withdrawal mgwBTC -> BTC (txid 149471786984067940) about 10 hours ago and still have no coins arrived.
Is it typical and I shouldn't worry about?

Thanks

Server 2 finished an unexpectedly long restart this time, and all pending operations, both deposits and withdraws, have been processed a couple minutes ago.

Patience, folks. We should have the new SuperNET v2 client release including the new BTC gateway soon. New BTC servers have passed all the tests with a good grade, and they stay online. I can't wait myself to have them available in the new client.

I made a BTC withdrawal over five hours ago. It's still missing.

Also, I tried many times to get a deposit address for superBTC. I get either a blank screen or the message: {"error":"error creating busdata"}

I am not sure HOW you made your withdrawal but I also had issues.
I was using the Supernet plugin. It seems to fail since transaction are prunable.

Following Van´s advices, I did the transaction manually (ie you transfer the asset, add a *public* message, that is *not* encrypted and *is* never deleted).
Then you count at least 10 minutes for the 10 confirmations of your NXT tx, then another 10 minutes (can be more or less) for the BTC confirmation.

If doing all of that, you don´t get your BTC within 1h (that´s OK Van, I am saying it :)), then sometimes is probably wrong and the servers are fighting.

One server crashed during the night. I found out a few minutes after waking up, and I restarted it.

By default, you can assume I am monitoring everything several times a day, but I need to sleep, and since legacy servers crash regularly and no one else seems to be watching them to know when a server goes down, operations can be delayed and de facto processed in two or three daily batches.

Also, I tried many times to get a deposit address for superBTC. I get either a blank screen or the message: {"error":"error creating busdata"}

The new BTC triplet was working, but there may have been code updates this weekend that affect requests to relay nodes (the IP's used in the manual testing document). Updating.

The legacy servers seldom fight, but very often one of them is in the long process of waking up. And they do not pick up requests until completely awake.

Would not it make sense to let the 3 servers provide a public status?
Something like:
- all green (don´t make it look too nice, this is not that often :))
- dead
- restarting (and we know we need to wait 6h...)

This way, it would be clear to everyone without the need to constantly ask.

If you check SuperNET v2 client (currently providing gateway for BTCD, VRC, OPAL and BITS, and soon also for BTC, LTC and DOGE) you will see that exactly :)

It works like this with the new SuperNET MGW servers.

Manual testing for new BTC servers is on hold for the time being due to updates in the code.

Thanks for staying on top of the problematic servers, Van. Sorry that it's all on your sholders. I thought there was a team covering each cluster...

I thought there was a team covering each cluster...

There has been most of the time, and there will be, once the new cluster is live in the UI (new BTC servers are operated by james, noashh and myself). But in the past the legacy servers had very long downtimes -not a bunch of hours, but often a bunch of days- because response times from operators were very slow. And that, added to the progressively slower initialization times in this first MGW code base, made the service very difficult to use. Recently we took over and migrated the most problematic server to a dedicated machine I operate. This is to help guarantee that, since the new code base seems finally ready for BTC, the current mgwBTC service only suffers the inevitable delays due to startup times, and migration to the new cluster goes as smooth as possible.

The new release of SuperNET v2 including new BTC gateway is being prepared this week.
