Multigateway Production Servers Online with SuperNET release
« on: November 13, 2014, 12:21:49 am »

Dear Nxt forum,

with the release of SuperNET, the Multigateway production servers are now online.

This is another step in the development of the Multigateway project, and brings the main cluster, and the main gateway (BTC) to three independent operators.

Additionally, the specifications and the configuration of the new servers are meant to give better performance and stability to the service than the development servers running it so far. Development and improvements in Multigateway configuration, server monitoring and others will of course keep happening; this is an open, continuous process.

So now we have six different operators in Multigateway:

MGW Cluster #0: Frohike, Abuelau, Coinomat (BTC)
MGW Cluster #1: marcus03, Cobaltskky, jefdiesel (DOGE, BC, VIA)

These six become seven if you consider that James will keep the development servers online for as long as Multigateway users move to SuperNET UI and production servers.

Important Questions

- Any important change I need to know?

Only one: for technical, security and performance reasons, the production servers operate with a new mgwBTC asset ID: 17554243582654188572. Note that the name of the asset hasn't been changed to preserve the naming consistency in Multigateway; the mgwBTC asset ID changes and the asset description now includes a specific reference to production servers. Please see the question below to easily update your mgwBTC.

The other news, of course, is that now the Multigateway UI is integrated into SuperNET.

- How do I use the new MGW servers, and update my mgwBTC?

When you start using the Multigateway page in the new SuperNET UI (release by longzai here) you will automatically start to use the MGW Production servers.
As a user, if you were already using Multigateway or mgwBTC there's only two things you need to do:
  • Generate your new BTC deposit address in the production servers. You can do this the usual way from the Multigateway UI page. After requesting the address, you will receive it and see it displayed in the Multigateway UI in around 20 Nxt blocks.
  • If you own mgwBTC, swap them by sending your old mgwBTC (asset ID 4551058913252105307) to the redeem account NXT-6YQW-HHCG-NATW-DCHJ3. You will receive the same amount of production mgwBTC (asset ID 17554243582654188572). The redeem account is running the Share Swap service also included in SuperNET.

- What if I keep using the old Multigateway Plugin?

The previous Nxt Services Plugin runs the old mgwBTC asset with MGW development servers, which currently cannot receive the same maintenance and will go eventually offline once activity ceases. The AE market for the old mgwBTC asset will of course stay online, but trading activity will migrate to the new asset in the following days so it is strongly recommended that you upgrade to SuperNET and swap your assets soon. Currently there's no date limit, however, for the automated asset swap, and for as long as development servers stay online withdrawals from the old mgwBTC asset will still be processed.

- What coins will be supported in MGW production servers?

At this moment, only BTC is enabled so we can follow changes gradually. New UI, new servers and new asset ID; soon afterwards LTC will be online, and other coins will follow.
Also remember that, run by a different triad of operators, Multigateway currently supports DOGE, Blackcoin and Viacoin as well.

- I'm running the SuperNET UI and I keep seeing the old UI version. What is going on?

This is a simple cache issue. Clear your browser cache and open the UI again, or press Ctrl + F5 to force your browser to do a complete refresh in the login page.

Please use this topic for questions about the migration process, we'll try to address every one of them. For questions specifically related to the SuperNET GUI, please post in longzai's SuperNET release topic.

We will update downloads, information and news in https://multigateway.org very soon; with the exception of the new tutorials for use, I expect to have the main website contents fully updated later tonight.

Thank you for using Multigateway :)

Works fine with v1.3.3 here — did you shift-reload (^F5) in order to override the cache?

Here how it was:

1. Extracted supernet 1.3.2.2 to separate directory
2. copied db files from NXT directory to Supernet directory
3. Run sh run.sh in supernet directory
4. Command window shows, that version 1.3.2 starting and at the end it shutdowns.

Seems Supernet core is 1.3.2 and it cannot work with 1.3.3 database, as during updating NRS from 1.3.2. to 1.3.3 database is rescanned and fixed. So, I think Supernet 1.3.2.2 cannot work with with fixed NRS 1.3.3 database.

Or where is the problem?

I unzipped supernet-1.3.2.2.zip to a separate directory, then copied supernet-1.3.2.2/html/* to nxt/html/ and restarted nrs (last step perhaps not necessary).

How long to show up? Going on 10 confirmations now.

Edit: looks like I had to refresh the client. It's not autoupdated anymore even when I switch screens.

Hrm, I'm getting an error "permission denied" when running run.sh on supernet folder. Ubuntu.

Its Supernet 1.3.3.1

Do I have to be running NXT wallet as well?

EDIT: had to make run/sh file executable. Seems to be running now. :P

$ cd nxt
$ chmod +x run.sh

No, the SuperNET build is independent.

About the error, access the run.sh file permissions (right click) and make sure that "Allow executing this file as a program" is checked. If it was not, check it and then try again.

In the next release, we should have that permission checked by default (it is in the Nxt client releases).

Edit: Or do it the way kseistrup says above, from the command line - but not 'cd nxt' if using SuperNET build; rather cd supernet-1.3.3.1

I have problem with missing DOGE.
Send some DOGE to my existing account (from MGW, number the same), but they're not appeared.
Details are on NXTmessage to CobaltSkky Asset Distro.

Hi, sorry for opening this thread again but I couldn't find a better place to post my question.
Over 1 year ago I used the Multigateway to deposit 1 bitcoin and now I would like to release this 1 mgwBTC and transfer it to a different bitcoin wallet afterwards.

As far as I can understand, I should transfer the mgwBTC to the redeem account (NXT-6YQW-HHCG-NATW-DCHJ3) and will receive a production mgwBTC (asset ID 17554243582654188572) in return. Is the redeem account still active? It has been some time.

Can I send this production mgwBTC afterwards to a different wallet outside the Supernet?

Thank you!

Hi Najs1,

Hi, sorry for opening this thread again but I couldn't find a better place to post my question.

No worries. For any future requests, please use the sticky in this board, the Multigateway User Support Thread.

Actually production mgwBTC also phased out and has been already swapped almost completely for superBTC (asset ID 12659653638116877017), the BTC asset run in the latest SuperNET Lite clients.

But if you have a 1 development mgwBTC, that means that BTC still should be in the wallets used in old development servers, so you can send the asset to that redeem account. Then please allow for a few days so we can gather the old wallets and, if all is well, transfer manually the BTC to the current SuperNET servers. And then we'll send the corresponding superBTC back to you.

Sounds complicated but for you it's simply an asset swap... I was explaining this because the residual amount of BTC left in old wallets is probably distributed in a bunch of small inputs in different multisig addresses, which means more manual work to prepare the transaction and finding some time to do it.

Can I send this production mgwBTC afterwards to a different wallet outside the Supernet?

superBTC can be withdrawn to external BTC wallets using the SuperNET Lite client, https://nxtforum.org/lite-multigateway-releases/supernet-lite-v2-0-7-beta/

Is this mgwbtc (4551058913252105307) fake asset?

That was the first mgwBTC asset issued, for the initial development servers. Then the move to the first production servers around November 2014 required a new asset (17554243582654188572, also named production mgwBTC), for which dev mgwBTC was swapped. And currently there's the final superBTC (12659653638116877017) run in SuperNET servers.

Thanks! Just send the mgwBTC to the account.

Ok, the asset swap will be done shortly.

So it's impossible to swap the oldest mgwbtc (4551058913252105307) for superbtc?

That's what Najs1 requested above. There's still (very) few development mgwBTC in circulation, but those should correspond to a few BTC still in development wallets, which need to be recovered manually from the small inputs still unspent in dev wallet addresses. So yes they should be able to be swapped, but it takes a little time.

Edit: This topic is obsolete, so it will be now locked. For any Multigateway inquiries, please refer to the stickied Multigateway User Support Thread.
