How much overlap is there between this and NXTTY?

Where are you in the development of this?

How will it make NXT?

What are you using the NXT raised for, development, marketing or something else?

In my opinion anything that could replace that old troll Facebook has to be good

as a supporter of both NXTmemo and NXTTY I can think it would be nice to have NXTTY as one of the NXTmemo broadcast channels

I guess there are some similarites, but the goals of both projects are probably quite different.
Nxtty has encrypted messaging as their main angle. Unlike Nxtty, NXTmemo stores the messages on the blockchain, which makes it interesting for anyone wanting to make public statements that are provably from their NXT account.

Its under continous development, as it has been since it started. Progress may not be very fast but its steady.
The groundwork for making the application standalone is already laid, just some more modification needed. I think its very important for it to be as decentralized as possible. (Kind of like http://twister.net.co/) This might also bring additional attention to the project.

A small fee is charged to display (and sell) marketplace products on ones profile. Same for assets, altough selling/buying assets is not implemented yet. This is for the obvious reason to avoid unwanted / illegal products being sold. (Standalone version will have no such restriction)

The most NXT however is intended to come from being an information distribution platform for asset issuers, marketplace sellers etc. This aspect of the project is currently in the making, I hope to have some specific example of this ready soon, so everyone can get a better idea of how this will work.

Some will be used to cover server costs etc. The rest is to be used for development, like through offering bounties etc.

Yes, exactly. Although people will be able to use it for any kind of message they want, press release just being the most obvious one.

Ahh so the value will be created by the creation/production of infrastructure. Will you be "net-neutral"? For example, you are involved with NXTinspect and DORCS (both fine projects). If KNS wanted to publish an advisory which was highly critical of NXTinspect over NXtmemo, would you or anyone step in to censor that? For the record I have nothing critical to say right now (ahem)

I'm just asking how this will be managed.

And the standard -- will shares represent ownership and control? If not, what assurances do we have that the 'contract' in the OP will be immutable? This has been a problem in the past with many assets.

When you possess 15% of Nxtinspect I suppose you must be one of the Devs. Considering Nxtmemo was given as dividend by Nxtinspect I felt I was on solid ground and stupidly bought 35k Nxtmemo...

It seems the order has already been filled. I wouldn't consider it "dumping" as it wasn't that big of a order. (10k at 3000 NXT) NXTInspect has received a pretty big share of NXTMemo assets for vetting this asset and ongoing consulting. They are free to do with the assets what they want, which includes selling them. A part of them they distributed as dividends to NXTInspect holders.

On a different note, I'd like to thank everyone who has bought the assets so far, and at the same time apologize for the lack of updates in the past couple of weeks. I want to make it clear that this is a longer term project, so I don't want people to expect news and updates every week or so. Development is ongoing, even if not particularly fast.

Thanks for answering and letting us know work is being done on NXTmemo.
The selling was only 3000 NXT because there were no more buyers...

NXTInspect didn't sell directly their shares, it was rather done by the biggest asset holder of NXTInspect.
Anyway this person doesn't have many NXTmemo shares left to sell and I know he sold only what he received as dividends. I just believe it's an unethical conduct from a person who apparently belongs to the lead team of NXTInvest: they shouldn't send the message to their shareholder that "we give you part of one asset as dividend knowing the IPO price is 1 NXT and later on one of our associate will sell at under the third of that price..." being partly responsible for driving the price down because he has been selling many times before...

People sell for lots of reasons, selling an asset as a private individual is not unethical, some people maybe got a good price.

NXTinspect account also still has a significant holding as we understand toenu was working this project slowly, NXTinspect account will not be distributing or selling the rest until/unless toenu gets this project off the ground. i.e. those remain locked up until the issuer has finished with his sales..

NXTinspect did issue some NXTmemo as a dividend to create a market for the asset and to create some visibility, its up to toenu now to drive the perception of the value of this asset with support from shareholders etc..

I guess I'll have to put some buy order at a lower price once I get more liquidity. That could be good for the future.

I am "Hodling" long term on those assets anyway and I should rather see this as an opportunity rather be upset about it.

It's also good to get a word from chanc3r and toenu on the forum cause even though I believe you're working hard to succeed on your projects, feeling that the Devs are around means a lot to assetholder like me so we wouldn't get too paranoiac about our investments.

Don't you think 100 NXT is too expensive to promote a product? Just imagine a seller who wants to promote a few thousands of products, books for example.

Should work now too. The reason for charging a fee to have a product show is really that I don't want people promoting their illegal goods on the site. (There are other places for that :) Maybe I'll add the possibility of adding 10 or 100 products at once at a discount, but I'm also thinking about discontinuing this feature and replace it with something else.

Also I have some announcement to make: With the introduction of prunable messages to Nxt, it becomes necessary for some nodes to act as archival nodes, retrieving old, pruned away data as a service. Since this project has always revolved around the messaging system of Nxt, I think it is an obvious decision to provide this service in the future. I'm currently getting familiar with these new features and hope to have a workable system in place once NRS 1.5 goes to mainnet.
