When promoting to developers...
« on: November 03, 2014, 03:07:27 pm »

Make sure you show them to the NXT API test page that is built into the client:  http://localhost:7876/test

According to the changelogs it was first added in 0.8.10 and has been in the README.txt since 1.0.0, but my guess is that a good number of developers may not know about it.  I only noticed it about a month ago and I wish I had been aware of it earlier.

The advantage of the /test page is that it is generated automatically, there is no risk of it being out of date. The only thing a core developer must do when adding a new API call is not to forget to list all its parameters in the constructor.

We hope to add more javadoc to each API request handler, so that the links to javadoc on the /test page are actually useful. Lior has been doing that for the new MS API requests.

And for those who missed it from the 1.3.0 changelog, the /dbshell page may also be useful to developers for direct access to the database.

The new READMEs reflected on this. They just need to be completed by the dev team and merged into the develop branch.
