IMAP Server for NXT messages
January 03, 2016, 05:58:37 pm

i just had a quick idea and did some research but looks like nobody thought about it.
nxt messages are not used heavy because i think its just to much work to login the nxt wallet and check messages or send new messages. what if there is a imap server implementation for nxt messages. a wrapper so everybody could use it in their email client.

technically it should be possible i think. instead of emails you use NXT accounts as recipient. there is just one hard thing i guess which is providing the passphrase for the account.

if it is working we could promote NXT as decentralized mailing system which is also encrypted by default.

i remember vaguely that something like it already existed. i don't think it ever caught on.
i browsed the projects board, but couldn't find it.

there is cryptamail but it is offline and its only possible to send nxt messages to real emails. its just a forwarder i think. but this should just a email system which is only available in the nxt system and you can only send messages to another nxt accounts.

Interesting i wonder if a Jabber-like protocol can make this bridge, also it wont only be for email messages but also email, instant messaging and others.

Basically the jabber system already have built in bridges to most protocols.
