Hello World

I just noticed that through your interest in my humble project, we reach over 11,000 views

Thank you all

If you have followed the white rabbit here:
https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=10328.0you know that the Opensimulator software is a virtual worlds server and requiere a client called "Viewer" to connect , login and use it...
in the Nxt3D project we recommand the use firestorm viewer because is the most stable... and you know that the viewers are forced to follow the LindenLab's Second Life evolution...
the fact, is this viewers evolution go in a way that become day by day incompatible because LindenLab are removing all the UDP communications from them servers and the viewers follow... OpenSimulator/viewers need to the TCP and the UDP to work...
for this reason, is vital for the continuation of the OpenSimulator project to have a dedicated and fully compatible viewer re-worked for Opensim and if we include NXT in this re-work... this can be a real start for a metaverse economy based on a solid and trust technology...
last days,
Talla Adam, the owner and manager of "
Opensim Virtual" the most active community and metaverse crossroad , started an important exploration subject in relation with the motivation and the capacity of the
metaverse communities to crowdfund the development of a dedicated viewer to the OpenSimulator server...

Last year, as many here know, we crowd funded a code fix proposal that was raised in this G+ community. It was really quite a spontaneous affair and it actually worked out very well. I took a leading role in that and a large bounty was pledged and a developer stepped in to fix the code. It went smoothly and the pledger's paid what was asked (over a $1000) without hesitation once the code was accepted working to their satisfaction.
I organized the crowd funder as a proposal topic and pinned it here in Opensim Virtual. We made no formal group for this. I set a target sum of $2000 and simply asked people to make a pledge if they wanted to make this happen. I personally guaranteed what the developer asked to do the job up to half the target sum of $2000. Some of the others said they would share responsibility for the guarantee as well. The pledges came in quickly and the job got done. I then asked each pledger to send their share based on the sum asked. As the sum asked was less than $2000 each pledger needed to send less than they pledged of course. That ended it with a good result.
The fix in question was an LSL function llLookAt() in the Opensim code. You can read about it on my blog here: http://metaverse-traveller.blogspot.co.uk/p/c.html
Now there are proposals from +Terry Ford to revive http://opensimunited.com as an organizing group to put crowd funding on a more formal basis. +Selby Evans has also put forward New Media Arts as a support group with similar aims ( http://virtualoutworlding.blogspot.co.uk/2016/08/2016-people-hg-new-media-arts-plans-to.html ). I think both of these should be considered if people want to get behind crowd funding to get things done.
Alternatively, I do like the method I put into action before - doing it here in G+ - simply because there is no need to formalize anything or get charitable status with paper work and all that. We are an international community and I think uncomplicated methods are best. Money doesn't have to be collected, simply a request to send what is pledged when we are satisfied with the goods. And, while some might take the view, we could use a crowd funding service it must be remembered that they would take a share too.

We've seen the community method works ok. We only ever had one pledge not honored and guess who that was? Yes, Alex Pomposelli of AviWorlds fame ( or fiasco), but then I suspected that would happen the way he acts. The important thing is a public guarantee was given regardless if any pledges were dishonored.
So there you have it. I'm offering again to manage and even guarantee a crowd funded proposal pursued through this community. I think we can get some Opensim features added to a viewer and/or the simulator much quicker if they are clearly defined and freezable with a fair target sum on offer. We put the spec on the table and the dev's approach us with a price to do the job. If it fits our target sum the pledger's get to decide if, and who, we give the job too.
The method works fine for one off features and fixes but we could also crowd fund a substantial one off donation to help a viewer developer on the understanding they give more priority to Opensim features and agree to engage our community in discussion here on a regular basis. That's my suggestion anyway but I'm open to further discussion with the community and developers. If anyone wants to contact me privately then email at services@farworldz.com
if you read between the lines, you will find a lot of applications to the NXT platform like the asset exchange for the funds collect and the account control... phasing... in other words the metaverse need NXT even if he ignore it

i hope they will use the NXT platform for this crowdfunding if the things gose to that level

for my follower, i am currently working and preparing the other side of the bridge

the work in the Ardor 3D main office is in progress and the work in the project will speed next weeks because today is my last official day in my real job! i will have time to work on it...
Thank you all and @++
