Seen a phrase you don't understand? Post it here for answer.
« on: March 25, 2014, 07:38:31 pm »

Have you seen words or phrases around here and not sure of what they mean? AntiNxt, CCT, Genesis Account? Then post it here to get a description  ;D

Your phrase or word could even be uploaded into the Nxt Glossary on the Wiki to help others who might have not known either but were too afraid to ask!

You can find the Nxt Glossary on our wiki at >>>>> https://wiki.nxtcrypto.org/wiki/Glossary

Take a look now and learn more about the Nxt Platform or bookmark it for later.

What is "lemon party"?  And someone keeps telling me to look up "blue waffle" in google images.  I have no idea what they are talking about.

Taken from the Nxt Glossary...    8)

FUD
Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt. Also see FUDster.

FUDster
A FUDster is someone who spreads Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt (abbreviated to FUD), often in an emotive and hysterical fashion. The implication is that a FUDster is trying to have a negative effect on the price of an asset and/or derail or delay important discussion and decisions. Therefore it is seen as a serious insult to labelled as a FUDster.

I think Emule has earned himself an entry in the glossary.

Maybe as a reference under FUDster, maybe even with a full entry. (Not joking!)

Elmo
See Emule.

Emule
Emule is a Nxt user who is, and always has been, extremely pessimistic about the future of Nxt. He/She can often be seen predicting a large fall in the price of NXT, which predictably do not occur when He/She claims they will. When the NXT price invariably falls, Emule will claim it was due to his/her selling action. On many, many occasions (25+ by some estimates) it has been shown that Emule's predictions don't come true and many have pointed out the poor logic behind telling people you are about to sell a large amount before you actually do (you get better prices this way). But Emule remains a tenacious member of the Nxt community. Emule is adamant that he/she is an original Founder who has millions of NXTs to Dump. Or sometimes that they are just a trader out to make a killing. All evidence so far suggests they are just a FUDster but only time will tell. Despite his/her stance and sometimes unbecoming behaviour (i.e. making claims about the sexual orientation of other users mothers), he has become a lovely rogue and pantomime villain of the Nxt Megathread, even earning the nickname Elmo and often receiving tickle behind the ears when he makes an appearance.

Words you could add:
- Decentralized
- Alias
- BCNext

Remarks:
"Founders": Generation date should be 24th not 25th imo

"Elmo"/"Emule": Can't wait for it

Keep up the good work Daedelus!

Good that you mention it.
I have some problems with the Nxt timestamp.

It has its own start, right?
So the creation of NXT means timestamp = 0 for every timestamp in the Blockchain

To convert into the right date/time, i would need the exact timestamp of nxt, can somebody help me with this?
Or just the exact day and time when nxt was launched

(Maybe its not for the Glossary but for developers... maybe you could add it...)

I have found it. 24/11/2013 13:00:00 is the creation of the  Genesis Account.

therefore any timestamp you find in the Blockchain is in seconds from this point of time.

Maybe this is interesting for a glossary, maybe not :)

What (numerically) is the block-time? The articles I've read say 1440 blocks per day, or one per minute, but post here seems to assume 800 blocks per day.

The base target for block generation aims at 60 seconds, although right now the average block times are a little higher than that. There is a coefficient of variation, you might find this thread illustrative:
