Title: NXT and ARDR what happend?
Post by: masterrobo on June 11, 2017, 08:16:49 pm
Hello guys,

It's been a while for me to get back in crypto currency. I bought some NXT in 2014 and pretty much didn't do anything with it.
Now when I log in I see that I have assets in ARDR? It's the same amount as my NXT amount. What is this all about? And why do I have it?
Can I sell ARDR on a exchange or something?

Thanks and have a nice day!  :o

Hi!

This may be helpful for you :)

You can sell ARDR on an exchange, or keep it for when the main of ARDR launches.
If you don't want the ARDR, I'll always take it  :)

Thanks for that info. But why do I have the same amount of ARDR and NXT in my account? I didn't do anything for it. And I didn't trade anything.

Before the launch of Ardor, there will be a one-time snapshot to all accounts with NXT. You will receive 50% of whatever amount of NXT you have at that time. Like with the snapshotting for ARDR, no NXT will be burned.

And why does 50% get burned at release? So I can trade all my NXT for ARDR right? But I only get to keep 50% of it? I'm still a bit confused.

The ARDR were "airdropped" in a snapshot period of three months last year.
If you held an amount of Nxt during that whole time, you got the same amount exactly.
We didn't want to dilute current Nxt owners by doing an ICO for them, so this was a good way to distribute, as it lead to people actually wanting Nxt and redistributing them by selling.

On the 50%, this doesn't concern ARDR. This is about IGNIS, which is the token on the first ARDR child chain. You will get 50% of IGNIS ratio for each Nxt you hold at that time. The other part will probably be ICO-ed, but that's still not completely decided.

So, enjoy your free ARDR! they are yours as a long time Nxt holder. Consider it a good luck gift :)

Thanks for the answer this really cleared the clouds for me ^^. And it feels great to be back in crypto land especially with a gift like that haha!

Hello guys,

I am new in the NXT community, so please excuse my leak of know-how about the things here. I buy some NXT coin in my Poloniex account  2 days ago, should I move them in one NXT wallet and keep them there or it is available too, the NXT wallet from Poloniex ?

Many thanks for your support.

Kind regards.

Hello D4rkS1d3,

before anything, welcome to NxtForum.

For any new questions you may have in the future, don't hesitate about starting a new topic for that particular issue, specially in the Helpdesk section. A support request as reply to another request may go unnoticed.

I suppose you're thinking about the Ardor launch (and the NXT > IGNIS snapshot) in the next quarter. At this moment there's no news about Poloniex supporting the IGNIS snapshot for their users or not. Hopefully they will support it, the same way they supported the NXT > ARDR snapshot last year, but right now to be in the safe side it is recommended to store your NXT in a Nxt account you control fully, rather than in an exchange balance.

So go to https://nxt.org/download/ , grab the Nxt Client for your OS, install it and open the NXT Wallet to create an account. You don't have to wait for the Nxt blockchain to download to generate a valid new account (and there's the option also to run the Nxt Client in light mode, so the blockchain does not need to be downloaded). Save your new account passphrase securely and send your NXT to this new Nxt account you created. This way you can be 100% sure that you won't miss anything when the snapshot happens.
