Nothing but trouble with my NXT clients
« on: April 24, 2014, 11:22:50 pm »

My friend also has told me he is having the exact same problem, and that is NRS just stopped working.
The usual 127.0.0.1:7875 no longer works in my web browser, despite the fact that the NXT client is reported to be working correctly.
Anyway, it first started having trouble logging in, it would just hang after entering my passphrase, and now i cant even get to NRS in my browser at all!

I ended up switching to NXT solaris, and now that doesnt even work properly, i end up getting a red bar on the bottom corner of the window saying failed to connect to http://"node address" after restarting it multiple times, i can eventually get it to work.
The odd thing is that my balance also reads lower than the actual amount from time to time.
Ive checked my firewall settings and even after disabling that, it makes no difference. So i know its not firewall related.

A freshly updated NRS 0.9.9 is working perfect for me both in Windows and Linux. First time startup may take somewhat longer lately due to database upgrades, but other than that I've had no issues at all.

When did it stop working? Which NRS version are you running?

That sucks.
Maybe try yet another client?

0.8.11 is outdated and will hard fork at block 130,000 IIRC.

Use the download link at the top of the forum to get the latest version, 0.9.9. Running it now and it works perfectly.

0.9.9 from 0.8.11 is a big jump, i only downloaded this around the end of last month so there must have beena bit of development since.
I forgot to mention that i was having this problem before i updated to 0.8.11 and that never made any difference.

Always use the last client and from 0.8.11 I would redownload the blockchain, eg start from a new folder.

Also make sure your PC clock is set correctly, there where some ppl that had some problems because of wrong timezone and such.

I run a public node and I make sure that to old clients get blocked. I don't know if others do the same and that could be that old clients run in a fork very fast.

You can check very easy for new updates when you check the page "http://localhost:7876/update.html". This is buildin in your local NRS.

Now this is strange, when i do that, its telling me that the latest version available is 0.8.12, so is 0.9.9 just a beta version?

I noticed that too. Probably just a bug. The version 0.9.9 is the latest client and you should use that one.

if i use the same account, i dont appear to have any trouble.
