Hello, I have same issue. The public key is not attaching, it is not user friendly (imo) I just wish to go in and start selling stuff...
To add value to the network. I have done transactions and it states it may not of happened. I paid for a full client (250 NXT) the reason why, is the one I downloaded (full client) kept getting pop up errors. I have already invested time and token. I hope a developer reads this. This is what I have noticed.
1) The online wallet works great but not attached to public key. (Why?) Explain, is there a logical reason?
2) When I downloaded NXT server it worked then now I get error messages.
3) Paid for full client, yet can not do transaction to attach to public key. Error message 'transaction may not work' (something like that)
4) Adding a public key should be easy, every other account is. Take for example registering for this forum. I did it 5 min ago, and now have full function.
5) Selling a product in the market should also be easy. As should buying assets. I already tried 5-15 times and have been unsuccessful. It should be as easy as making a post.
I just wish to jump in and use, add value, make transactions. I am stalled at the gate. Making a public notice as others would face similar issues.
This is taking profit away as I would have done many transactions told others (if it were working) I get there is a learning curve but I have downloaded many applications before only to USE them right away.
With new eyes on this and a new look at it all, no disrespect for all the hard work. I am sticking around, trying to add value.
How many hours invested is reasonable to place a item for sale on the network? I may choose Ebay. Get it?
I wish I took video of the entire process one must go through. Possibly I just got to wait for block 1400 or what not.... Then things will be fully functional(?)

The MyNxt web wallet, although it has often been recommended as a hassle-free, fast way to get a Nxt account working, is a third party tool - it is not a product from Jelurida, the Nxt core developers. Nxt Client itself has always been free, and it is recommended to use any features, advanced or not. The only hassle the Nxt Client may currently bring is downloading the blockchain, or for whoever prefers to avoid that and work in Lite mode (similar to how the MyNxt wallet works from the user point of view, without needing to wait for the blockchain to download anywhere) you need to tweak a configuration setting. But probably new Nxt Client releases will include a simple way to install it in Lite mode by default.
This said, announcing the public key for an account has been for a long time an
optional step. For as long as the account has not sent any transaction, it helps to increase the security for new accounts with no activity. But it is not needed, unless for instance you want to start forging without ever having sent an outgoing transaction. Is this your problem, you tried to start forging? It actually is not possible to forge using the MyNxt wallet, even with the full client plugin. To forge you need to be running your own Nxt client.
