can we put the exact snapshot day early on somewhere on top of the forum. if we dont do it... there will be discussions that only like 10 active users did even know about ador.
- why any user should know about Ardor? :
To get your ARDR tokens, it is essential that you keep your NXT balance in your
own account. There is no need to run a node or forge. ...

Maybe that potential future investors dont argue that the snapshot was not widely made public.
Nxt has the karma for being a scam and had in the beginning a really bad distribution. No change in that?
Hard to put this in the forum header next to the NRS download?

qq, this release performs a rescan on testnet, the errors you are getting are probably related to a resource problem.
I had a very similar problem when I tried to upgrade my 1GB testnet VPS.

To solve it I had to:
1. Compact the database.
2. Add the flag -mx700m to the Java command line
I think you mean -Xmx700M,I'm try again on my VPS,hope this time works.

-mx and -Xmx are the same thing https://community.oracle.com/thread/669224?start=0&tstart=0
It works now,thank you!

What's "Share" means in Messages panel,no action after click.
Try clearing browser cache if nothing happens after click. It should pop-up a modal window showing the shared key for decryption of this specific message, and "share" link. It is safe to disclose this "shared key", or link, to third parties, to let anyone decrypt this message only without compromising your passphrase or other encrypted messages.

Meh. I think the ones that count could afford newer OS's. Still, XP is 13 years old. Get it together China.

I wouldn't use WinXP on a computer that's connected to the internet. Offline is fine, because there it doesn't need security updates, but online it's going to get compromised toot sweet. And I wouldn't want to type my Nxt pass phrase onto a machine that's likely compromised.

I have a suggestion for NRS GUI. Please put "API" link in right upper corner, which opens http://server:7876/test in new tab. We will have new users during Ardor snapshoting and a lot of them will not know such beautiful thing as test page for API list and testing them. If possible and secure to have it :)

I tried to add a Hallmark with version 1.9.1e according to this page: nxtwiki.org/wiki/How-To:CreateHallmark
However, with the local link:  localhost:7876/admin.html
I get the message: HTTP Error 404 (file not found)
localhost:7876/index.html works fine.

That's part is outdate.Open generate hallmark in localhost:7876/index.html page, input data according to your ip,then you will get a long string, put this string into nxt.myHallmark=Your string in nxt.properties file.

Is it safe to generate the hallmark with my main NXT account on a public node, or is it recommended to generate the hallmark with a new, empty (0 NXT) account?

Hallmark weight will be how many coins you have in your account. It makes no sense to have 0 weight.
The heavier your hallmark, the more other peers like to talk to your node, so watch for some bandwidth increase.

It's safe, there is no point to generate the hallmark with a empty account. If you worry, you can generate the hallmark in your local node first, then copy the string into public node.

nxtwiki.org/wiki/How-To:CreateHallmark
should be updated:
1) Instead of admin.html, it is now index.html, then "Settings - Generate Hallmark"
2) By generating the Hallmark on a local node, and copy+paste to nxt-default.properties on the server, then the server can run on a light-weight Linux machine without a graphical desktop and web browser. The private key is only entered on the local node, not on the server, which is a security benefit.

Does anyone know who can update the wiki? The goal should be to increase the number of public nodes. Currently it is only about 250 (peerexplorer.com)
It's updated now, thanx.

The wiki also says: "Weight: A weighting value for your node. If you only operate one node, the value doesn't matter... but if you operate multiple nodes, you can use this value to set a relative "weight" for each node.  The network will "sum" all of the weights for your hallmarked node, and use the ratios of those weights to determine how much traffic each one can bear.  For example, if you have four nodes and want them all weighted equally, set equal values.  But if one node has much more memory and bandwidth allocated to it, you may weight it more highly relative to the other three."

Is this actually true? Lurker10 said: "It makes no sense to have 0 weight." At peerexplorer.com, 180+ of 250 public nodes currently have zero weight.

I think this is how it works.
If you have two nodes, and you have an account with 100 coins and generate a hallmark with it, and put the same account hallmark (of course it must be generated for two different IPs) on these nodes, weights will be 50 on each of your two nodes.

It makes no sense to generate a hallmark with an account that has 0 coins, it will be the same effect as having no hallmark at all.
Nodes that have no hallmark or have a hallmark with an account of 0 coins have 0 weight. Peers do download blocks from them, but less frequently than from those with a non-zero weight hallmark.

There is an initiative by community members to award hallmarked nodes with NSC coin traded in the monetary system, so you can make some money having your node hallmarked. The more weight your node has, the more NSC coins you will receive.
