And here we are: https://nxtportal.org/polls/16515047395218679516
Only to show this vote is wrong idea.

lol. thanks for making this clear

Why do you think so? Now it is clear, that this mechanism is discredited or/and community doesn't have awareness to demonstrate its will and to get right decission. Also, it seems to be clear, who owns that 50 millions of nxt. This is not fun and easy to accept especially for those who are new to Nxt and to it's boiling passions.

Because not everyone in the community care and understand what happen here. So if just one whale and a bunch of small "player" vote, then we all know which answer will win. The whale's one.

That is Proof of Stake. If we had a vote by number of accounts, people started thousands accounts and would win too. PoS is about creating a safe network, because the whales don't have advantage by making stupid decisions, it will affect the directly.

Interesting discussion, but shall we stay ontopic please? Start a new topic or use the searchbar to search for topics about voting. Thank you. :)

If you guys read JL's explanation, he is quite clear that the API changes are needed to help add features onto NXT in the future.  So everybody voting doing a little foot stamping vote to keep things the old way is basically voting for Supernet to be babied and NXT not to grow, when the other option is for Supernet to man up and make some adjustments and then even possibly later on take advantage of the new API performance enhancements and new features on NXT while allowing NXT to also get better.

An occasional API change will be needed for any platform that is growing.  They are not to happen lightly or regularly (what has it been like more than a year?), but they do have to happen sometimes.

NXT to go grow...WHERE?

The NXT growth is in to provide for external buisnesses stable platform to build up on top something (Ethereum promises that and collects money from Microsoft on it, etc). So if NXT will not be API-stable and backward compatible no one will build something serious on it, so no more users come to use NXT, so no growth for NXT.

So what growth are you talking about?

So once again apologies for anyone who has been affected by this mis-communicated API change.
Please leave this discussion thread for the usual 1.6.2 technical questions and bug reports.

I also apologize for the way the API changes were introduced without sufficient communication and warning about the consequences. It has never been our intention to break existing systems, on the contrary, as I explained several times the 1.6 branch was specifically picked for the change because of the upgrade to it being optional. We do want to have a stable API, but we also want to have a well designed and well performing API, and not carry baggage from the past forever.

I do not want to start sounding like a broken record now, as everything I have to say about our reasons for the change has been said multiple times in previous posts and the slack discussions. We need to move on, with the work on the 1.7 and further as detailed in the roadmap.

thanks for the post, devs.

NXT and many of the projects being built on it are top notch; if everyone works together this will be a very successful platform. it is, without a doubt, the most complete crypto platform out right now.

thanks to everyone for all the hard work

That's good! Thanks for this, this shows, that you are not an usurpator, which is good for decentralization and NXT at all.

This warning message is kind of confusing for someone generating an auth token.  It can be incorrectly interpreted to mean that the passphrase is sent to the site requesting the token.  It would be better to explicitly say "the NRS server".  Thoughts?

Users don't know what NRS is. It would just be confusing. :)

Why is the passphrase leaving the browser? I don't think there is any reason to do that.

No, Token could be created by pure Javascript.

I recall that Jay generates tokens using JavaScript, can someone point me to the JavaScript source code for this ?
