Hello friends,

I'm a noob and appreciate your help.
I originally installed the nxt-client-1.4.18 wallet and today installed the nxt-client-1.5.9 version.  As I understand my NXT balance should automatically transfer to the 1.5.9 wallet on my Windows-7.  Correct?  However, the 1.4.18 wallet is still holding my balance.
Also, I note that a 1.5.10 release is now being used.  Should I install this version?

Thanks!
if you have Windows
try this: https://nxtforum.org/nrs-releases/nrs-v1-5-10/msg181836/#msg181836
it is installer Windows
you can download blokchain : http://www.peerexplorer.com/
or
the NRS will now place the blockchain under c:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\NXT
In order to avoid full blockchain download, copy the folders nxt_db and nxt_test_db from your existing NXT installation folder to this folder and restart the server.

why i cant get access to my account???????     when i  enter the original passphrase, and click the log button, the reminder appeared on up right coner. sadly, it says:"You must enter your passphrase. If you don't have one, click the registration button below". i dont know what happend? i just upgrade the cilent from 1.4.8 to 1.5.10.          anyone help me???

This may be as simple as just refreshing your browser cache, assuming that the blockchain is up-to-date.
Note that on the 1.5.10 login you now have the option to just look at an account, as well as logging in with your passprase.
Is there a little person icon to the left of the log-in field ?  Use it to toggle between account number/passphrase input.

@nickelback65
Nxt uses a brainwallet, so you can log in with your passphrase from anywhere....there are no local wallet files on your computer to worry about.

I didn't understand any of that.

I am running on OS X and have version 1.4.18.

Can you please tell me plainly how to upgrade.

Thanks.

Here ya go:
Download this: h//ttps://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.5.10.zip
Download this: h//ttps://www.dropbox.com/s/djmouly8wlts5gg/nxt_db_peerexplorer.zip

Double click the nxt-client-1.5.10.zip file. It will be in your Downloads folder.
Double click the nxt_db_peerexplorer.zip. It will also be in your Downloads folder.
Drag the 'nxt_db' folder into the 'nxt' folder. This will copy the NXT blockchain into the new client.

Open your terminal app. Type in
cd Downloads/nxt
./run.sh

Open Chrome/Safari/Firefox and type in 'localhost:7876'. Input your address, log in, and wait for about 10 min. You are rocking. :)

Thank you.

Will follow that now.

I followed these instructions, however on running I get the following:

Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: nxt/Nxt : Unsupported major.minor version 52.0
   at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method)
   at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass(ClassLoader.java:800)

It then takes me back to the command line.

Apologies, forgot to upgrade you to Java 8.
Download this: h//ttp://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html and look for 'Mac OS X x64   221.98 MB     jdk-8u45-macosx-x64.dmg'
Install that file.
Then do the ./run.sh

I have followed the instructions and I am now getting the following errors:

Please advise,

It was a cache related issue. I've now managed to log in fine.

Although I am still getting a-lot of this on my terminal:

2015-06-07 19:03:53 FINE: Too many outbound connections, deactivating peer 185.69.54.142

I don't know if that represents a problem.

Also when I logged in, I just used my account ID, I didn't have to provide a passcode. Is that correct?

@Benzedi:
The connect/disconnect messages are normal, or at least nothing for us humble users to worry about.
Logging in with just account ID allows you to look at an account, but you will still need to provide your passphrase if you want to actually do anything.

Thanks.

Everything working fine now. I seriously hope in the future there is a simpler approach for less tech 'savy' users.

Can't even transfer funds from polo atm as they've disabled withdrawals with no ETA, presumably due to the complexity and timing of the update.

Well....we do have an integrated "one-click" Windows installer, but a Mac version may take a while longer.

On Polo: I know they updated to 1.5.9 a few days ago, so I'm surprised to see them having issues today, they are usually very on-the-ball with NXT.

The limit for non-prunable messages has not changed, it is still 1000 bytes. Messages are pruned not based on size, but only if they have been created as prunable, i.e. messageIsPrunable=true parameter has been added. For prunable, the limit is 42 kbytes.

For 1.6 we should either reduce the size limit for non-prunable, or make them more expensive, to encourage the use of prunable messages instead.

My work PC already update to 1.5.10,but when I downloading blockchain this morning, somehow get into fork,I had to blacklisted all the peer under 1.5.0,and get back to the right blockchain.

Why I update and still downloading a fork? If I do nothing, will my PC automatic switch back?

Try to use the popOff API from the test page to popOff all blocks above height 445000. Your peer should automatically download the correct blockchain after the popOff is done.
I tried this on my peer, it took less than a minute.

Can I send an encrypted message with an expiry time in blocks with the new client?

Send "Hello mate" and set it to expire in 14400 blocks? (about 20 days)

No, messages are either prunable, thus get deleted after two weeks exactly, or non-prunable so they are never deleted.
Setting variable pruning delay is not supported at the moment.

I only ask because I can envisage a time in 100 years time when superfast computers have rendered the current incarnation of Nxt obsolete and all of our messages are decrypted for everyone to see.

So, is a pruned message definitively deleted forever?
No.

The message itself is deleted from the blockchain, only the message hash is left. In the (far ?) future computers might be able to reverse engineer your sha256 hash to recover your message. Furthermore, some nodes can decide not to delete your message from its database derived tables but archive it.

Voting system feature request.

I followed 3 polls on my PC and casted one vote in each poll. Now I got on another PC and do not see any active polls so I suppose they are finished. I do not have followed polls on my second PC and there is no any way to access poll results (unless you've a poll id from the forum or another source).
I think we need to track casted vote of the account and show polls even if it is finished to check poll results.
I think we need to have a way to find finished polls...

I can see your vote transactions and your poll transactions:
txid 13052412304548680107 is a vote for poll id 9172782887829506520 etc.
