Error: Could not find or load main class nxt.Nxt
That is all that shows up now.

I'm assuming you are on Windows running run.bat when getting this message, if so open run.bat in a text editor and remove the first line which reads
Invoke run.bat again and paste the output here.
Also verify that the file nxt.jar exists in the NXT installation folder.

No, I'm on 10.10.3 (Yosemite). No nxt.jar in ~/nxt/ (v 1.5.10)
There IS a nxt.jar in ~/nxt-old/ (v 1.5.9)

Redownload/extract?

EDIT: I downloaded/extracted and ran (for S&G's) compile.sh. I watched nxt.jar and nxtserivce.jar disappear. Is compile.sh _not_ for compiling a gui client?

EDIT 2: Re-unzipped the download to start fresh. Now syncing, let us see how far it goes. Hopefully all the way so I can move on to other things ;)

compile.sh just generates the Java .class files. The Jar file is generated by jar.sh
I think you just need to start from a clean zip file. Perhpas you can copy the blockchain from your old 1.5.9 nxt_db folder or download it from peer explorer if you don't like to wait for it to sync.

Ok i copied the run.bat from 1.5.9 to 1.5.10 and it runs fine. So something from the older version was not copied or something added to the new run.bat that was screwing something up.

I did just that. Thanks for the heads up. I am decently new with upgrading NXT wallets.

Got to block 445,000:

2015-06-07 01:40:15 FINE: Peer 89.133.34.109 version null returned error: {"cause":"java.io.IOException: java.util.concurrent.TimeoutException: Idle timeout expired: 60000\/60000 ms","error":"Your peer is blacklisted"}, request was: {"protocol":1,"application":"NRS","requestType":"getInfo","version":"1.5.10","platform":"PC","shareAddress":true}, disconnecting

Is that my client being blacklisted? I know this coincides with a fork so maybe it is not just me?

After that, I stopped the server, waited for it to exit (about 5 minutes). Restarted and things look normal again. :)

Can you please tell me plainly how to upgrade.

Thanks.

My client is redownloading the full blockchain is that necessary since i already have it in my nxt_db?
Every update is worse then a childbirth and someone still wonders why the price is going nowhere.
People are not buying nxt because it takes a master in computer science to use it.

Here ya go:
Download this: https://bitbucket.org/JeanLucPicard/nxt/downloads/nxt-client-1.5.10.zip
Download this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/djmouly8wlts5gg/nxt_db_peerexplorer.zip

Double click the nxt-client-1.5.10.zip file. It will be in your Downloads folder.
Double click the nxt_db_peerexplorer.zip. It will also be in your Downloads folder.
Drag the 'nxt_db' folder into the 'nxt' folder. This will copy the NXT blockchain into the new client.

Open your terminal app. Type in
cd Downloads/nxt
./run.sh

Open Chrome/Safari/Firefox and type in 'localhost:7876'. Input your address, log in, and wait for about 10 min. You are rocking. :)

Whilst I don't think its the only reason, I agree so much with that statement.

I followed these instructions, however on running I get the following:

Update Java to JDK 8.
Make sure it is JDK, not JRE as some have reported JRE doesn't install as the default java on Mac.

Apologies, forgot to upgrade you to Java 8.
Download this: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk8-downloads-2133151.html and look for 'Mac OS X x64   221.98 MB     jdk-8u45-macosx-x64.dmg'
Install that file.
Then do the ./run.sh

Wait for the blockchain download or the blockchain upgrade to finish, delete browser cache, refresh the login page. Still not working?

No; this happens because the database location has changed. See #17.

Hello friends,

I'm a noob and appreciate your help.
I originally installed the nxt-client-1.4.18 wallet and today installed the nxt-client-1.5.9 version.  As I understand my NXT balance should automatically transfer to the 1.5.9 wallet on my Windows-7.  Correct?  However, the 1.4.18 wallet is still holding my balance.
Also, I note that a 1.5.10 release is now being used.  Should I install this version?

Thanks!
