Changed default setting of nxt.apiServerCORS to true in nxt-default.properties,
to enable cross origin filter on the API server by default.

Added CORS peer service field, showing whether CORS is enabled for open API
nodes.

Recalculate NRS.isLocalhost when api proxy is enabled and blockchain download
has finished. Fixed starting funding monitor when running on remote host.

To protect against brute force attacks on the admin password of public nodes,
after 3 unsuccessful login attempts the remote host is blacklisted for 1 h.

Something is wrong with the bitbucket download site at the moment. Even as logged-in user I'm getting really slow download rate.

Thanks for the update!  :)

I've noticed that the update message isn't shown in the 1.10.1 desktop client if it runs in "roaming client" mode.
Only after the blockchain download is completed and you refreshed the wallet after that.
Is this by design or could it be changed? Maybe some users don't use their client much, so they must wait quite a while for a full blockchain download before they can update.

what is the difference between the admin password of public nodes which is protected against brute forcing with this version and my NXT NRS which is forging? or with other words: is my nxt account secured against brute force attacks, too?

Your account passphrase is not secured against brute force attack. In fact users can even try to guess your passphrase offline and even use dedicated hardware such as GPU or perhaps even Asic card. Therefore your passphrase must be much longer than a normal password.
50 random ascii characters or 12 words chosen from a dictionary of 50,000, like the client wallet generates, are recommended.

Hello!

First time forger here, attempting to install NRS v.1.10.2. I'm using Win 7 (32-bit) and trying to do manual install from the nxt-client-1.10.2.zip file. During blockchain download I get endless repetitions of this:

Error in blockchain download thread
java.lang.RuntimeException: org.h2.jdbc.JdbcSQLException: File corrupted while reading record: "page[199935] b-tree leaf table:160 entries:106". Possible solution: use the recovery tool; SQL statement:
SELECT height FROM block WHERE id = ? [90030-192]
   at nxt.BlockDb.hasBlock(BlockDb.java:117)
...
Caused by: org.h2.jdbc.JdbcSQLException: File corrupted while reading record: "page[199935] b-tree leaf table:160 entries:106". Possible solution: use the recovery tool; SQL statement:
SELECT height FROM block WHERE id = ? [90030-192]
   at org.h2.message.DbException.getJdbcSQLException(DbException.java:345)
...

When I try to search Nxtforum discussions I see next to nothing and especially not in the last year related to "File corrupted" or "recovery tool" mentioned in these exceptions. Appreciate any direction anyone can provide. This is super frustrating!

Thanks,

Thanks,

On file corruption errors it is best practice to scan your hard disk for sector errors first!

Then you have two options:
1. delete the blockchain database and start from scratch
or
2. download a snapshot of the blockchain database from peerexplorer.com

I've been using 1.10.1 on my raspi, but yesterday it crashed again and again. Installed 1.10.2 now, but I also get these errors and blockchain-download is very slow. both blockchain-dl-links at peerexplorer.com are down :(

Well I have now abandoned my 32-bit desktop and now trying with 64-bit Windows laptop... but when I start up Nxt Server I get this message:

"Blockchain download halted, no connection"

Though I'm definitely connected to internet. So I'm not sure if I'm a special case or just having bad luck / timing... but I can't seem to win in my hopes to forge Nxt. :)

1. Make sure you are using 1.10.2 not an older version which is no longer accepted by peers.
2. Perhaps you did not allow the application to bypass the firewall with outgoing connection ?
3. If you already started the blockchain download delete it.
4. From the peers table (cogwheel -> peers) manually add peer address from the list in the property nxt.defaultPeers in conf\nxt-default.properties

If nothing else works, open a support ticket at https://nxt.org/support/ and post your nxt.log

Thanks Riker for the tip. On my Peers page I see "0" for both "Connected Peers" and Up-to-date Peers". When I click "Add Peer" and provide any of the numerous peers listed in property nxt.defaultPeers I just get this message every time: "Peer already added!" :)

Definitely could be related to firewall since I'm within corporate network. I can try later outside the network.

For now, apart from opening support ticket which I can do later... any other tips?

AFAIK you must open tcp port 7874 on your internet router or enable UPnP, which will do this automatically.

Hello World  :D

i was re-working a bit my 3D products displayer to display directly the images from the network instead of upload them... i have a problem with the marketplace images display on external pages (items), i don't know if this is a bug or was made like this...
to reproduce:
- open the marketplace and select a product with an image...
- click the image to open the image modal...
- click right the image and select "display the image" (i think, i have the french version)...
you will get something like this... SSL or without (on firefox):
https://nxt3d.net:7876/nxt?requestType=downloadPrunableMessage&transaction=890459693984156288&retrieve=true

in internet explorer, this start the image download... giving you the choice to download or open the file but the image is not displayed in the browser...
there is a method for displaying a marketplace image on an external page/place?

ADD: solved  :D was a problem with mono/SSL... the image bellow show a cube with an image displayed directly from the marketplace using this opensim LSL function:
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/OsSetDynamicTextureURL

Has the latest NXT windows client software been modified/hacked? I cannot get the same checksum after the download. Can someone please advise and confirm the original nxt client 1.10.2 windows checksum for me?

The following is the checksum I got after download nxt client 1.10.2

sha256sum.exe nxt-client-1.10.2.exe

I have no indication for any hack, note that the hash in the OP is for the .zip installation not the exe.
As stated in the OP "The exe, dmg, and sh packages must have a digital signature by "Stichting NXT" - therefore just double check the signature of the exe you downloaded.
And just to be absolutely sure, I also verified that the hash you posted is correct.

We did not test this release on MacOS Sierra.
1. Can you check your nxt.log to see if there is some exception or interesting error messages there ?
2. Does the web wallet works ? Point your browser to http://localhost:7876 after starting the node to check.

RED FORK SERVER WALLET WARNING

I opened my 1.10.2 NXT wallet server a few hours ago and got a brief red warning that the wallet had detected that it might be on a fork. The warning disappeared after a few seconds.

When I opened it a minute ago, I got another brief red flash of some words in red just before the Dashboard came on. The red flash this time only lasted for a fraction of second, so I couldn't make out what those words were.

EDIT: It happened a third time again when opening my server wallet after it had been closed - and also shut down from the Taskbar. My non-server wallet doesn't flash the red warning when opened - only the server wallet seems to be affected.

(I've also posted this on the main thread under my AforAmethyst username)

The devs are looking into it. This is what Riker said on Slack:

Quote
We see forks related to nodes on which the balance calculation did not work correctly. Probably because of block chains reorgs during the distribution period. These nodes should issue a full rescan or re-donwload the blockchain. We are still looking into this.

In case your node is stuck on a fork after block 1M.

To re-scan the blockchain to fix this problem:
From the API test page choose the scan API or use the following URL http://localhost:7876/test?requestType=scan
Set height to 0 and submit, you won't see any response.

You can monitor the re-scan progress by observing progress messages in the nxt.log which can be accessed from the tray icon:
2016-10-13 17:38:28 INFO: Scanning blockchain starting from height 0...
2016-10-13 17:38:29 FINE: Dropping all full text search indexes
2016-10-13 17:38:29 INFO: Lucene search index deleted

...
2016-10-14 02:25:11 INFO: processed block 995000
...

Then you can see the Ardor distribution:

I think this is a temporary problem at shapeshift (https://shapeshift.io/rate/NXT_BTC returns "{"error":"That pair is temporarily unavailable for trades."}") the wallet integration is still operational and in fact we will improve it slightly in 1.10.3

BLOCKCHAIN ALERT

Originally posted as AforAmethyst on the older NXT thread:

My Desktop NXT 1.10.2 wallet does not seem to be downloading the newly forked Blockchain (I upgraded well before the fork). The number of blocks left to download is going up and is now showing 2412. Other people seem to be having the same problem. I don't want to be downloading snapshots. I'm a relative newbie. Surely, the blockchain should sort itself out after time?

Just now the number of blocks left to download dropped down to the 1500s, but then instantly went back up to 2415 where it's staying and increasing ... now on 2420.

THE BLOCKCHAIN HEIGHT SEEMS TO BE STUCK AT 1000012

Anyone know what's going on?

I saw a couple of posts advising to download the 1.10.3 client which was only just put up for download a few hours ago. They said they had done it and everything is fine. However, when I've unzipped 1.10.3 and tried to update by clicking on the NRS version number at the top right hand side of my wallet and clicking on NRS update, it tells me that "the blockchain is still loading, check again after it's up to date."

So I am back to Square One with a wallet that doesn't seem to update beyond Block 10000012

My wallet isn't in alert mode and is still showing NRS version 1.10.2 in green, not red, so it doesn't look like I can upgrade just yet.

Post by: CryptKeeper on October 15, 2016, 06:10:07 am

Please advise.

To fix the problem, please do a rescan of your blockchain database as described by Riker:

2016-10-14 02:27:46 FINE: Calculating balances at height 1000000
2016-10-14 02:27:46 FINE: Updating balances for 49868 accounts

2016-10-14 02:27:54 FINE: Distributed 9989994953689 QNT to 51092 accounts
2016-10-14 02:27:54 INFO: received block 1000000
...
2016-10-14 02:28:47 INFO: Finished blockchain download

This can take quite a while, it would be faster to replace your blockchain database completely! There's a snapshot download link at the bottom of peerexplorer.com (http://peerexplorer.com) with instructions how to do it.
