NRS Client Update on Mac
August 22, 2017, 05:57:19 pm

Hello, I am two weeks new to NXT and have been enjoying getting to know the platform. I am on a desktop MAC and have been forging with 1.11.7 after a deposit of some NXT.

This morning I logged on to find a message saying there is an update to the NRS client to 1.11.8. I followed the link from my wallet, learned how to verify the SHA256 hash, and indeed it seemed correct. I installed it by overwriting the existing version on my MAC.

When I log in, it still gives the warning about a need to update the NRS client. I would have thought the installation and overwrite with the new version took care of that. Clearly, I am still new enough to be missing something. Would someone mind helping me with some helpful how-to? Much appreciated!

Hello Ice Cream,

welcome to NxtForum. Sometimes this happens because the old version is still stored in the web browser cache. Have you tried to click on the Nxt icon in the top bar, and select "Refresh wallet" to reload it from the latest installed files?

Yes, and I just did that again to be sure. Still says NRS Version: 1.11.7 Outdated!

Please disregard. I figured out the missing step. For any other newbies like me, after downloading the *.dmg file and running it to create an installer application on the desktop and running that program, it only deposits an installer in the application folder. THEN you have to run that installer to upgrade the client software. That's a MAC thing that I did not realize. My bad.

Everyone stand down from defcon 5! LOL

Peace, love and...
