Thank you everyone, we're really glad you like it :)

Wait it long long time

The site launch needed to wait until we had a polished, fast user friendly UI and service. Today, longzai1988's release of the fine piece of work MGW Lite is (making NXTservices unnecessary and MGW as simple as Nxt allows) has been a deal breaker.

QBTC & farl4bit - we could also use mgw.nxt.org subdomain pointing to this site, if you want to promote this type of URL structure.

Great news!

There have been already some vandals that have voted down the webpage on WOT addon (Web of Trust). Web of Trust is a chrome/firefox addon everybody can install where users are warned when a website is dangerous. It has hundreds of thousands of users.
This has been the case and a few have not lost a minute to discredit multigateway page :P

If you guys use it, please upvote it as a totally legit site so we can remove thar unfair warning.

Cheers,

When I do manual install of MGW (on 1.1.6 client)...I only have BTC and LTC.  I thought DRK was supposed to be there as well?

No, DRK is not available in this release.

You may want a disclaimer on the website about DRK.  It isn't supported yet and people may get confused.

There is a disclaimer, no? On this page, http://multigateway.com/#sec_coins it says that darkcoin is under development.

It's not BM, it are old comments from 2011. Please flag them and report it to WOT. Thanks.

Thanks for the heads up, I registered in WOT and left the question in the support board.

The domain was vacant and we registered it two or three months ago, and I don't even know what was the old 'multigateway' website about.

Regardless, this weekend we'll also point multigateway.org to our page.

i have tried to find it on archive.org but was not archived.

Wonder if actual multigateway.com will receive a really bad inheritance from past owner, whatever it was about in the past

Google cache already gets the new version (actual NXT multigateway.com)

I doubt it, whatever the old site was about is totally unrelated to the current multigateway site. Domain owners have changed, server has changed, contents are different, etc.

Since there will be times when MGW is down, I think it would make sense to add a twitter update link on the website.  Also, I'm stuck on "Searching deposit address" how long does it take to appear?

Could you add on the website who own each of the multigateway servers? I mean who are the 3 peoples in charge to sign multigateway transaction? That information should be public and easy avalaible.

As a suggestion, I would add that info as 3 bullet point after:
----------
Every coin asset is equivalent to one coin. The coin assets are backed up by the coins deposited in MGW, stored by the three MGW servers in a multisignature account for every supported coin.

In a multisignature account, the same address has several associated private keys or signatures. This means the servers have to agree, each of them providing their signature, in order to process the coin transactions, in a similar way to joint bank accounts. The use of multisignature accounts and independent servers is what makes MGW much more secure than any traditional centralized exchange account. BLA BLA BLA:
- owner 1
- owner 2
- owner 3

Looks like my client is stuck on "Searching deposit address..." for both BTC and LTC.  Been like this for five minutes. :/  I have not been give the option to generate an address.  My balance for both coins, however, does show as 0.  Anybody else experiencing this?

Client is 1.1.6 by default in MGW lite, I'm on Win7

1.1.6, Windows 7.  I used the zip file to update my existing NXT wallet install.

I personally did development and testing with 1.1.6 and win7 as well, but not managed to reproduce the issue you guys are facing

p/s : if you are using browser, try right click -> inspect element, and go to "console" tab and see if any error pop up

I've added BETA tags to file downloads and descriptions.

- owner 1
- owner 2
- owner 3

--------------

Yes, this should appear in the service information. Right now I don't think all three servers are already settled in their final destinations, I will ask James about the info.

Looks like my client is stuck on "Searching deposit address..." for both BTC and LTC.  Been like this for five minutes. :/  I have not been give the option to generate an address.  My balance for both coins, however, does show as 0.  Anybody else experiencing this?

Seem like many people experience this issue also, which client are you using and what OS are you on?

Same problem here.
MGW "Searching deposit address ..." for more than 12h now.
I am using NRS 1.1.6 on Ubuntu 14.04. I was using the M09 before if it relate.

I think the website needs an FAQ section answering questions such as:

Why is multigateway more secure than centralized exchanges?
Who controls the servers?
What happens if one server goes down?
How to see MGW's operations and their 100% proof of reserve on the blockchain?

etc.

A good read.

James, could partial access to the multigateway be completely online? As in no running Nxt client or MGW lite extension.

What I'm thinking is for people just using multigateway.com to 'purchase' NXT for btc/ltc with only needing access to the website and their other currency wallet. [Obviously they would have needed to run the Nxt client at some point to get a Nxt account to output to.]

I'm hoping we can get a 'fund your account' part on nxt.org that goes straight to the mgw in the above fashion, enabling new users to have a very easy method of getting their first NXT, and at the same time hopefully increasing the demand of NXT on the mgw.

Currently I require that the API requests are tokenized, which requires the acct password.
However, generating a deposit address is not actually that sensitive because it will always be the same address, given the same set of servers. So, I could remove the tokenization restriction for requesting a deposit address.

Now, in that case, all you would need is a way for your (or any) website to generate the AM request for a MGW deposit address and then just submit that to the NXT network. The MGW servers will pick that up and then respond back with the address.

So to make things even easier, what if the website had a page to locally generate a password? Then somebody totally fresh to NXT can come to the site, click a button to get a high entropy password (and the corresponding acct #), QR codes are generated so they can take a pic to preserve it. At the same time, the deposit address AM request is sent and the user can get an email with their deposit address(es). From there all they have to do is send from their bitcoin-qt and they can even see that it is in their acct from block explorers.

So, the answer is yet, it is quite possible to have a totally web based process, but it requires some web server side software. I dont do that sort of thing, but I would be happy to help whoever you get to implement this!

James

P.S. There is a little formatting issue for the AM, but once you get ready to implement this, these details are small matters. More difficult is the scanning for the actual addresses. Let me think.... I think the best way is to build this into the pNXTd daemon, then all you would have to do is submit an API request to :7777 with the NXT address you want MGW multisig addresses for. No need to worry about the formatting of AM or scanning of blockchain. Just poll another API request until the address is there.

Is this the reason for the never ending "searching deposit address"?

I had to wait a while (maybe an hour), but a deposit address did show up eventually (I'm on Win 7, IE11).  Once I deposited BTC...it took at least 7 confirmations to show up.  Once that happened I was automatically assigned mgwBTC in the AE (nice!).  Made a trade for NXT and all is good.  One exception...

The balance button in MGW still shows that I have my original BTC amount, but when I click on more info...it shows 0 (as it should...I spent it).  The trade was made hours ago so it shouldn't be waiting on any block chain updates.

I must say guys...very impressed.  I hope you realize what you have here that NO one else has been able to do to my knowledge.  Trading for NXT is SO easy now that I might just have to break the seal on my savings and buy some more!  If only NXT could link directly to FIAT bank accounts in the client...we'd rule the world!

You do realize you might be inundated with all kinds of requests for "Please add [insert shitcoin here]"   :)

Thanks! I do believe that MGW is way ahead of any centralized alternative and only the MGW clones will come close anytime soon.

There is coinomat that allows to go direct from NXT -> visa/mastercard, thats pretty fiat

The issues you raise sound like GUI update issues and I am sure will be cleared up.

Ok, found the reason for the problem.
You have to open your NRS using localhost:7876 and not 127.0.0.1:7876
As in the code the XMLHttpRequest is using localhost, then your page should be open on localhost otherwise they don't match.

I think we now have a chicken/egg problem for new NXTers. As a new user who wants to use the mgw to convert BTC into NXT, you don't have the NXT to pay the fees to get the BTC address and create the sell order for the btcasset.

Same problem exists if NRS does not run on localhost (For me it runs on a server in my local network). I just see "Searching deposit address...".

Possibly you should take the target-url from http-headers?

I think the website needs an FAQ section answering questions

Yes, this was actually in the to-do list. I've added the corresponding note in the last User Guide section. I'm taking your questions to start the list:

Why is Multigateway more secure than centralized exchanges?
Who controls the MGW servers?
What happens if one server goes down?
How to see MGW's operations and their 100% proof of reserve on the blockchain?
...?

we should gather any recurrent questions made here and in other threads to include them as well.

You have to open your NRS using localhost:7876 and not 127.0.0.1:7876
As in the code the XMLHttpRequest is using localhost, then your page should be open on localhost otherwise they don't match.

Good catch :) I've changed the client URL references in the website guide, and re-uploaded a fixed version of the one-click installer since the previous one linked the Nxt Wallet shortcuts to 127.0.0.1... although I don't think this issue will stay around for long.

Other questions:

- marcus03 is right (and this was brought up some time ago in development stage). Proposed solutions were a dedicated faucet delivering 2 NXT (one for deposit address, and another for AE order placement) or provisionally a giveaway thread for crypto users with a brand new Nxt account to get started through MGW.

- I thought about adding a simple form below Supported Coins to request implementation of other coins, but that's principally James' call according to trade volume and ease of integration. For coins where those are not an issue, we could even add a Voting Chart feature similar to mintpal/hitbtc/etc to measure community interest, of course only for coins supporting multisig.

PRobably more about the core MGW implimentation, than the website BUT: is it possible to cancel an unfulfilled buy or sell order on the AE once it's been initiated?  I see this as a major hurdle for use by the end-users if not...

The NXT AE does not care if it is MGW asset or MIC, it works the same
And AE lets you just cancel an order at any time
Of course, if during the last block it was active the order was partially (or fully) matched, then the cancel was too late

For those user that facing the stuck searching deposit address, please do me a favor to tackle the problem.

1) Are you guys browsing wallet through 127.0.0.1:7876? Please try it with localhost:7876 and see if the problem persists.

2) If the problem persists please acknowledge me if any console exception appear, from chrome you can right click and choose "inspect element", navigate to console tab

Thanks

I hadn't even thought about that, this is a pretty annoying fact.

I think the faucet system we have at the moment can certainly do the job. It just has to implemented into the process so that it is very simple to do for new users, for example a popup window if you click generate with a zero fund with a link to the faucet.
Interim wise this should probably be mentioned in the depositing user guide for now.

I was trying to think of an automated way that the new user paid for these at the end, by means of central fund being used to front the NXT and getting reimbursed at the end, but pretty sure there it isn't possible as the central fund private key couldn't be distributed and there is always an cost of using the nxt network. So think this part would always have to happen outside the network.

Does the BTC addess request message have to come from the requesting account? If not, it would be safer to create a faucet where the user passes his NXT account address, then the faucet sends the AM to request the BTC wallet address and sends out just 1 NXT to the user account.

A faucet that sends out just one NXT to addresses with no transactions yet can't be robbed.

Could someone go through coinmarketcap and get all bitcoind (or similar) forks that either support or is likely to support multisig in the near future? I have 32 slots for coins that could be supported (that actually leaves another 32), but I need to hardcode a coinid with the coin and I want to do this upfront so I dont have to keep making a new version for every new coin that we want to support.

Thanks

I think we now have a chicken/egg problem for new NXTers. As a new user who wants to use the mgw to convert BTC into NXT, you don't have the NXT to pay the fees to get the BTC address and create the sell order for the btcasset.

Currently I do require the requesting acct to tokenize all requests, but I am thinking of relaxing that requirement for deposit address requests.

If somebody can get me example C source code for a .cgi (?) program that I can drop into an Apache configuration (I also need to know where the directory is!), then I can write a "realtime" deposit address generator that would bypass the blockchain for the request. The danger is of course spam, but I think if I limited access to a specific lists of IP addresses, then it would not be an issue. Also some sort of cap on the number of requests, probably set by sending in a deposit to cover the costs of the AM's that do go out.

I just dont know how to get the output of C code to an html page. So as soon as I get the example Apache .cgi (not even sure if that is what it is!), I can make a webpage where you send in a NXT address and it spits back the JSON that will arrive in the AM in a near future block. The actual address generation takes a second or so, there is no need to wait 5 minutes

I will put this program on my development server, but it has DDOs protection, so it should be OK and it will be the only server in direct contact with the MGW servers.

Don't want too many people coming yet, I think, there're still some bugs to iron out. Also, we still have to go to production servers.

Actually all I need is the symbol of the coin. I think if its firstgen coin and we might want to support it, I can just hardcode it in, so the question really is what 32 (24 left) coins do we want to potentially support?
Dont worry there will still be 32 more spots left

Brilliant work, I understand this enables web based deposit requests, so for example if was loaded onto Nxt.org and the IP address was allowed in MGW this would essentially become a very simple way of funding a Nxt account, I'm very impressed!

Bump for a request to help James out in getting an output of C code to an html page.

How does one know if it supports multisig?  I have no problem going out and grabbing mature(not the scam coins) with large trading volumes.  I'll need to know what to look for.  Some that come to mind off the top of my head(without checking multisig) are vericoin, monero, XCP.

Isnt it possible to create a bot that sends 1 nxt to all the accounts that deposit btc to get mgwBTC and have a nxt balance of zero?
It also avoids people abusing the system if you were giving nxt for free.

Yes, you'd use CGI to produce html from C code server-side.

You need to start using

Code: [Select]
printf( "Content-type: text/html\n\n");
and then output the whole html page using html tags. An example of CGI program in C could be:

Code: [Select]
#include <stdio.h>

int main()
{
  printf("Content-type: text/html\n\n");
  printf("<html>\n");
  printf("<body>\n");
  printf("<b>Web page text body example for James, using bold as example tag</b>\n");
  printf("</body>\n");
  printf("</html>\n");
  return 0;
}

\n is not mandatory but makes it more readable.

And to run this stuff in Apache, at least in the default Apache running on Ubuntu I've used, executables go in /usr/lib/cgi-bin. Here's a tuto to make sure cgi-bin is properly configured.

Might a make a suggestion-- from here on, let's not focus on coins in the top 20 of market cap.  The reason why is because most of those communities, surrounding those coins, are quite established.  Your not going to find many old, big time BTC or LTC fans pouring into Nxt.  Why? Because they are all bag holders who don't want to let go of their sizable BTC wallets for alts.

However, there are other, up-and-coming coins that are innovative that aren't yet integrated into big exchanges.  I'm not saying you guys need to be like cryptsy or Bter.  I do think that implementing every new thing can cause problems.  However, coins like Boolberry that are sleeper coins, but somewhat innovative could do well with an MGW gateway AND that would also get Boolberry users into Nxt.

It's a win for us, and a win for the smaller, less known coins.

(And if you take my suggestion seriously, I'd like to throw QORA in as an option.) ;)

A v1 of the Multigateway FAQ has been added to the website.

New relevant questions, fixes and updates will be added as they are brought up. So please, feel free to leave comments and suggestions.

I'm leaving here a bbcode version for forum reference. Please note that in the website front there is a MGW service description that covers basic introductory information, not repeated in these more specific FAQ.

MGW FAQ v1

Getting Started

- Where can I get a few NXT to get started using Multigateway?

If you are new to Nxt, but have some of the MGW supported coins, a great way to get started in the Nxt platform is to deposit some of your coins in the Asset Exchange and trade them for NXT. Once you have created your new Nxt account, Multigateway allows you to do that. You just have to generate your coin deposit address following this user guide and sell your coins in the Exchange using existing buy orders, or if you prefer, place your own sell order.

Since generating a coin deposit address and placing an order in the Asset Exchange are transactions in the Nxt network, you will need to cover the current transaction fee of 1 NXT per transaction. No NXT? No problem. Just visit us in the Multigateway Starting Giveaway Thread in the Nxt Forums, post your new Nxt account ID and we'll send you 2 NXT so you can get your coins live in the Nxt Asset Exchange.

Security and Operations

- Why is Nxt Multigateway more secure than any centralized exchanges and gateways?

As you can read in the Service Description, the use of multiple multisignature accounts and separate, independent servers increases the security of the system by a very large factor when compared to a centralized exchange. An attacker that wanted to grab the coins wouldn't only need to crack one server security and one coin account, as he would need to do with a centralized exchange; he would also need to crack at least a second server, and then deal with multiple multisignature accounts, all without being detected. In the event of detecting any intrusion attempt, the service can be temporarily locked and shut down before the multisignature accounts move a step closer to become vulnerable.

- Will Multigateway have trouble in the event of a fork, as it has happened to some centralized exchanges?

Since the blockchain information in the servers is redundant, and the three servers have to agree in order to authorize coin withdrawals, the Multigateway software will automatically stop withdrawals as soon as a fork is detected, and until the fork is resolved.

- Who controls the Multigateway servers?

In this early beta stage, the three separate MGW servers that hold the coins multisignature accounts are operated by the MGW core developer. Very soon, the three servers will be operated by three independent entities: BitHaus, MyNxt and the core developer.
Also, additional clusters of three servers are being deployed, and each server cluster will be operating new coins supported by the Multigateway software. Each of these clusters will be run by three different operators.

- What if one of the servers goes down?

Since all three MGW servers need to achieve consensus before the 2-of-3 required signatures confirm a coin withdrawal, withdraws would be stopped while the server goes back online. Two thirds of the coin deposits would go through, and the remaining third would be processed once the server is restored.
Coin assets and Asset Exchange trade operations are independent from the MGW servers, so they wouldn't be affected by one server going offline.

- What happens if the Multigateway coin accounts runs out of reserve?

Multigateway has 100% reserve, since all the coin assets sent by MGW are backed up by deposits made in Multigateway. So the only way Multigateway could run out of reserve would be if everyone withdrew their coins from the Asset Exchange back to their coin wallets. For as long as you have your coin assets in the Nxt Asset Exchange, you will be able to withdraw the equivalent amount of coins.

- Is it possible to see MGW operations and transactions information?

Multigateway is open. Since all the transactions information is in the Nxt blockchain and in the blockchain of the corresponding supported coins, anybody can do a realtime audit on all the coin account balances and compare against the coin assets available in the Nxt Asset Exchange. If you want to follow realtime information of Multigateway balances and transactions, you can install the MGW software client (NXTservices). You can find it in the NXTservices Releases board in Nxt Forums here.

Looks good. One sentence stood out to me as needing tweaking:
"So the only way Multigateway could run out of reserve would be if everyone withdrew their coins from the Asset Exchange back to their coin wallets."

Saying that it's run out of reserve suggests that the MGW can't fulfill it's withdrawal requirements. Maybe: "the only way Multigateway ends up empty of coins is if everyone withdraws the coins that they have deposited."

As MGW will probably handle a lot of money, imho, I would recommand more transparency by stating who (real identity) have access to the key that sign the MGW transaction. At least, if it is not the real identity, please state Nxt forum nickname or BTT nickname.

By knowing their real identity, this reduce by several order of magnitude the risk of collusion.

Thank you. I've changed the sentence as you suggest.

By knowing their real identity, this reduce by several order of magnitude the risk of collusion.

I didn't include that information since it can be found fairly easily, but since the MGW website shouldn't imply visitors are also nxtforum users, I agree that at least the nicknames (or company names in some cases) should be added for contact reference. I'll change that.

The link on the user guide to "Download the Multigateway Lite Beta UI extension here." Is down (links to outdated version).

Fixed, thank you.

The link on the user guide to "Download the Multigateway Lite Beta UI extension here." Is down (links to outdated version).

Fixed, thank you.

Hate to say it - but it's still an outdated version ;D It's 1.1 but the current version on the download is 1.2.

Also as I'm just looking into it - so there are two newcomer questions coming to my mind:
- Is my BTC (or LTC) deposit bound to my NXT address? So it's not stored locally on my computer?
Just to make sure that I don't lose it if I delete the current NXT client installation.

- What if I don't generate an deposite address but buy assets... what will happen? Because I assume that internally the mGW does transfer the Bitcoins there?

I think for beginners it would be handy to have one line on how to add the asset - and how the price works. I.e. that 1 asset is equal 1BTC. It's not that super obvious for noobs I think - since from exchanges one is used to see prices in the 0.000076 BTC format.
Would actually be cool if the AE could somehow show that price (Asset/nxt) somehow.

Other than that - it's a really good website and neat user guide, makes the process easy.
The plugin works also nice so far. Even simpler than I thought.

Sorry about that. Re-fixed.

Just to make sure that I don't lose it if I delete the current NXT client installation.

If you mean your BTC/LTC deposit address, it is stored in the MGW servers. And if you mean your coin assets, they are in the Nxt blockchain... so no worries, as usual the only thing you need to operate is your Nxt passphrase to unlock your Nxt account as usual (and your BTC address in the case of withdrawals). No specific information is stored locally.

- What if I don't generate an deposite address but buy assets... what will happen? Because I assume that internally the mGW does transfer the Bitcoins there?

Coin assets work exactly like another asset. It's just that they have BTC counterparts in the MGW multisig accounts. So you can buy mgwBTC without having the MGW Lite extension installed, but you'll need it when you want to do a withdrawal to your BTC wallet address.

I think for beginners it would be handy to have one line on how to add the asset - and how the price works. I.e. that 1 asset is equal 1BTC. It's not that super obvious for noobs I think - since from exchanges one is used to see prices in the 0.000076 BTC format.

I believe the direct correspondence BTC > mgwBTC is already mentioned somewhere, but I can make that super explicit in the next website info update. Thanks for the feedback, one essential side of promoting MGW is not assuming everyone knows what we do.

Thanks for the info VanBreuk.
One more: How careful do I have to be, since it's called beta? I'm up for trading around with it as it also helps the volume, thats really the only thing missing (other than that it seems very promising). But I assume I shouldn't put a bigger amount in it yet?
Coinmarketcap could also use as one exchange for determining the NXT price... since they have the asset functionality anyways.

The beta label doesn't imply we are aware of any bugs; it's rather a way of saying the software hasn't been run extensively for a long time yet. But since all the transactions information can be found in the blockchains and the server information is redundant, a potential bug that caused a server crash would not place any deposits in jeopardy.

MGW has been working great this first week, but if you need help to feel more confident in depositing larger amounts,

1) Migration of the servers to their three separate final hosts (nxthaus, mynxt and frohicke) should happen soon
2) chanc3r is reviewing the MGW code
3) an insurance service for MGW deposits is on the works

Coinmarketcap could also use as one exchange for determining the NXT price... since they have the asset functionality anyways.

Good point, both volume and price in CMC should keep an eye on the AE for coin assets. The change right now would be very small due to early low volume, but eventually they'll need to hook up.

NXT Studios has just delivered a Direct Response film for NXT Multigateway (MGW).  http://nxtstudios.org/mgw

The film clip is now available on the NXT Studios channel on Vimeo with a link to embed into any NXT website or NXT blog.

It is completely loop-able for constant website use, where appropriate.

Congratulations and great work to all team members who made the Multigateway.com website and MGW plugin possible.

I think the most important aspect of "beta" is that I cannot guarantee 100% uptime of MGW servers as they are running on my development servers.
Throughout the beta testing, I am not aware of anything more than a few satoshis lost (due to valarmg's satoshi bug which has been fixed)
So, no guarantees on response time and of course, always chance of something bad to happen, hence the "beta" tag

Now, once the assets are in your account, then MGW has really no involvement for all AE transactions, so that part is as reliable as NXT AE

Thanks for the answers. Can I bother you guys a bit more? You can smite me if you get annoyed :D

Now, once the assets are in your account, then MGW has really no involvement for all AE transactions, so that part is as reliable as NXT AE

My security concern was not so much about the AE part, but the BTC deposit. What if there is data-loss in the servers? Maybe the server-transition has trouble. Then the addresses/keys would be lost?

Secondly, I wonder who "owns" the current mgwBTC assets? Is there a loophole in the "trustless" idea? Because let's say it's you as the issuer, then couldn't you just sell them all one day and run for the hills?

Lastly, the withdrawal part could be a bit more 'responsive'. I deducted 0.3 BTC. But even when they were gone, the balance in the NxtServices panel still shows that I own them... at least in one box. Here is a screenshot (see in the background the wrong number):

I didn't know the transaction already happened. Noticed only later in Bter that it was done already. Ideally it could let me know the trasnaction ID... maybe? Or a "done" or "processing" signal.
Overall I think it took about an hour to show up there.
Didn't try deposits yet, but I'll get to it when the price allows.

So far it all works pretty neat. Much easier than expected.
Biggest issue was for me to figure out the prices - since the AE list's it as NXT/BTC not the other way around like exchanges usually have. So maybe a plugin could fix that or wesley could even offer a little option in the client to switch the view - to make trading easier. I think its really a barrier for non-math peeps.
Graphs and stuff would be nice of course. And instant transactions are needed to make this usuable for proper trading - but you're on to that as far as I know, so yeah.

Ah, BTCD neato.
Great job guys! I'm excited about this - gonna be huge!

Transition to the definitive production servers will require re-generating deposit addresses. James can give more details about how that is going to work.

Secondly, I wonder who "owns" the current mgwBTC assets? Is there a loophole in the "trustless" idea? Because let's say it's you as the issuer, then couldn't you just sell them all one day and run for the hills?

This is a trust element discussed here - https://nxtforum.org/index.php?topic=3881.msg69120#msg69120

Is there some sort of infographic or diagram that explains how MGW works? Other than the simplistic one on the website - I'm thinking more something that explains the multisignature aspect. This would be very helpful when introducing the concept to new people or trying to explain to skeptical people.

The video didn't work for me with the first link. On firefox I got "Unable to play media. Media format not supported", on Chrome it stays black but audio is playing and on IE it's just loading.
On vimeo it played fine, good work. :)

Not yet, but that's a good suggestion.

I'm adding it to the queue, but if there's anyone with understanding of the service that makes such a detailed diagram, and it is approved by James, we'll pledge 500 MGW assets.

The Windows installer in the site is now updated with NRS 1.2.5.

For whoever wants to know more about how Multigateway works (including a more detailed service description and the operations chart I'm also attaching here) I just uploaded the v.01 of the Multigateway Service Docs - http://multigateway.org/downloads/Multigateway_docs.pdf

I'll leave that as a permalink you can also access in the website service description, and update it as it gets obsolete.

Website downloads updated to Lite MGW 1.4.1.

is Coin2 possible to get thru this MGW? thanks.

Coin2 is a fork of PPC, and that suggests it does not support multi-signature. If that is so, and since MGW requires multisig support, Coin2 would not be supported at this stage of development.

But there might be ways for MGW to provide the multisig in future releases, so never say never :)

I think supporting a bunch of alts could be cool, but speed and reliability should be priority, not sure if adding numerous coins affects that.   If it does, then I would say absolutely stick to the big coins, mainly BTC, LTC, at this point.  There is a reason why Coinbase isn't supporting anything other than BTC.

Agreed that speed and robustness are priorities and they're being treated as such.

Implementing other coins might not have a strong effect in mgwASSETS volume or in the large scale adoption of MGW, but consider these:

1 - It's a way to open the AE to alt communities.
2 - With the future asset-to-asset exchange based on InstantDEX orderbooks, AE will also become a crypto exchange with the lowest fees in the market, and with a very high flexibility (any trading pair should be possible).
3 - Development of main production servers and testing of additional coins are compatible since they are being done by different people.

So if you see dev talk about additional coins, don't be afraid... it's not that devs are overlooking essential issues, they're just working while essential issues are fixed :)

Agree, I'm all for adding any alt, just as long as efficiency isn't sacrificed.  Regardless, you guys are doing a great job and we've already seem huge trades happen via MGW.

speed and reliability are difficult to achieve at the same time. like heisenburg principle
you want it fast, then chance for error goes up
you want it reliable, it becomes slower

to get both is a major project that requires refactor. I will not be doing this, new dev is needed to do this and I will of course help. So, current level of performance is what MGW will be for a while. However, more and more coins can be added using the current design and it is totally independent of the main MGW servers

I think supporting a bunch of alts could be cool, but speed and reliability should be priority, not sure if adding numerous coins affects that.   If it does, then I would say absolutely stick to the big coins, mainly BTC, LTC, at this point.  There is a reason why Coinbase isn't supporting anything other than BTC.
speed and reliability are difficult to achieve at the same time. like heisenburg principle
you want it fast, then chance for error goes up
you want it reliable, it becomes slower

to get both is a major project that requires refactor. I will not be doing this, new dev is needed to do this and I will of course help. So, current level of performance is what MGW will be for a while. However, more and more coins can be added using the current design and it is totally independent of the main MGW servers

Sure, that makes sense.  I think reliability far exceeds speed as far as importance.  It's been plenty fast for me so far.  Knowing that I can withdraw or deposit reliably and that my coins are secure on MGW is most important.  Keep up the good work!

Added to http://multigateway.org/#sec_downloads the SHA256 hashes of the current Lite Multigateway version (plus link to release post) and Nxt Client + Lite Multigateway Windows installer.

Now waiting for the hosting provider to activate the SSL cert we purchased...

James has made changes in the MGW code and Frohike is currently testing the new release. We should be able to confirm it soon.

Multigateway.org now links asset information to NxtReporting site. But NxtReporting shows outdated information about assets. Maybe use secureae or ask NxtReporting to fix the problem?

Yep, nxtreporting.com is stuck for about 2-3 days now, we know it. Unfortunately the dev is out of country and he won't be able to restart blockchain scanning before Monday. Sorry for that.

I take it there is no way to STAKE with the BTCD in the MGW?  I get a little STAKING everday from the client..  Or, is there a way to WATCH an address?

Changed coin asset information links to SecureAE.

mgwBTCD page does not finish refreshing properly because we have no trades yet - I hope to see people breaking the ice soon :)

Queued withdrawals from these last couple days have been processed, there was only a small amount of 0.27 BTC reported to be in limbo by James, see his post.

If withdrawals done earlier today using previous versions -Nxt Client 1.2.5/Lite MGW 1.4.1- delay longer than reasonable, please report in the Multigateway User Support Thread.

Is there any way for a third party to set up servers for coins?

Also, I'm confused, did LTC go away?

Any third party is welcome to set up servers for coins, for more info please visit https://nxtforum.org/umgwc/

LTC is in transition to production server, once everything is sorted out it will be enable

The multigateway website has been taken temporarily offline for definitive migration to dedicated IP + SSL.

We should be back online very soon.

Ok, there's still a few things to fix that will be addressed tomorrow, but you can access the site now forcing SSL with https://multigateway.org.

Sorry I missed this. BC, DOGE and VIA were added to the website a few days ago, probably little after you posted.
