Who has control over the 3 servers?
« on: August 06, 2014, 05:06:39 am »

Does one person have control over all the servers or is each server controlled by a unique party or person?

is it possible (maybe in the future, when there are 100 of these servers) that the user is able to choose 3 of them?

There will only ever be three, per currency.  It's a function of how the gateway works -- it uses 3-way multisignature transactions for the corresponding coin.

In theory there could be another triplet, offering a DIFFERENT version of the same alt coin,

James could offer mgwDOGE, and someone else could offer mgwDOGE2, since both are asset markets, that are tradable in NXT

The doge that james collects is held to be redeemed when someone wants to cash out, theres no reason the DOGE2 pool couldn't operate in the same exact way.

Then it would be down to the end user to choose which market he wanted to use. In reality there is very little reason to do this now, but once the whole global economy is running on NXT< then maybe ;) but you better have those servers hardened tight

Will there be a nice overview on multigateway.org of who runs what?

Yes, we'll need that. We'll put one up once people involved in this bootstrapping phase is fully organized.

I think it would be much more secure if we could up it to something like 20 of 30 for a gateway. 2 of 3 seems incredibly open to collusion and a massive heist.
