Run across a Bitcoint/crypto oriented marketing company
« on: January 24, 2015, 07:51:19 pm »

I was at the BitcoinExpo 2015 in London today, run across these guys: www.bitcoinmarketing.net. They seem to be open to work with other crypto's.

I do not know of many specialized crypto-oriented marketing companies, and I remember at least one coin that had a marketing company (last August, I think?) walk out on them because they did not want to be associated with Crypto.

Posting this in case there is an interest from the marketing committee/NXT community to engage with these guys. I have no connection with them, still thinking if I go back for the second event day tomorrow, but I know they will be there.

Will be happy to chat with them if there is any interest from the NXT side.

At least have a chat with them and get some material from them.

The site is fairly generic: try to get an idea of whát they do.
Anyone can claim to do "SEO" or "marketing".
I'd like to know that their credentials are: what they've done before this.  :)

I know anyone can claim it, done it myself after only a couple of sites under my belt :-).

There is a bit in the 'our work' section, you are right, fairly generic.

Question is, what would NXT need them to if they would be able to? I am happy to chat with them again, would be good to have a bit more specific starting point then 'make NXT the No1 brand in Crypto'  8). Maybe we can say something like: 'We don't want you to do X, Y & Z, but what else do you have to offer?'

The reason I am asking is there seem to be some marketing initiatives already under way in NXT, no need to waste our and their time talking about stuff already being done. Will ask for more detailed info about past projects.

My impression about the Bitcoin Expo (never been to another one, but attended many expo's for other industries), apparently put together by these guys:

Roughly 200+ people there today, organized smoothly, fairly low-budget-looking venue but in a great central London location, good atmosphere, lot's of side conversations, very little 'commercial' feeling. Up to you to decide if this last bit is good or bad. Definitely not a 'mainstream' event (yet).

If you could see if they have a media distribution service or something like it, that would be helpful: important would be which sites they would be able to publish to.

Also: a benchmark of their fees would be great ;)

It's not possible to judge is a service is "good" until you know the price tag.

Back from the city & second day of Bitcoin Expo '15.

Got a chance to talk to the CEO of bitcoinmarketing, Tomas Drobny. Good conversation, no cheap sales tricks or expecting me to commit to anything (not that I could, but it was nice anyway).

Full disclosure: They are based in Bratislava, Slovakia, which is my home country as well, but I moved away over 10 years ago, so no personal connection. Before you discount Bratislava, it is one of the top 5 areas of economic performance in EU, and one of the most expensive places to live in EU. (other SK people, feel free to chime in)

- They have a marketing team of 6, expecting to be 10 in the next few months.
- Several existing clients, will be happy to provide more in-depth references from past work, related to what NXT needs
- Tomas asked for a time to look into what they would be able to provide for NXT, including ball-park price/figures
- I asked them to focus on increasing media exposure of NXT (the media lists Damelon mentioned are the beginning of that process, once we define the target audience), with content either produced by the NXT community, or them producing (some of) the content as well.
- They are interested in comprehensive marketing services, but happy to provide partial work in any specific area (PR, media exposure, social media/platforms)

Next step: Bitcoinmarketing to provide a preliminary offer/proposal sometimes early next week (the 1st week of Feb).

Tomas is travelling back home tomorrow, then start researching this project around Wed/Thu. He expects to have questions, may ask for clarification and input on NXT's needs at that point.

At this point I have not committed to anything other than communicating the above to Damelon/the NXT community.  ;D

I am happy to give this over to somebody else right now, or at any time in the future. Please do not think that I am trying to barge in or step on anyone's toes. I am ready to provide Tomas's contact info (I can PM to you Damelon, or anyone else).

I can also continue to be the point of contact until it is time for someone with authority to commit to anything on behalf of NXT.

Please let me know if this discussion should move to a different platform, or if it should continue at all.

Great :)
I'd be happy to talk to Tomas and see what he finds and proposed.
Shoot me a PM, please :)
