Privacy / getting coin shuffling more user friendly
« on: March 23, 2016, 06:23:57 pm »
i just looked into the shuffling feature of NXT some days ago and i think its a good feature but for the user its a pain in the ass!! the probability that there is already a matching shuffle waiting for you is nearly zero and then you also have to wait for enough other participants. there is no possibility that all this will happen in a short period of time (maybe 1-2 days...) i mean if i want to shuffle i dont want to wait for 2 months till someone is coming over and also wants to shuffle.

here is my proposal to give coin shuffling a kickstart -> we should provide a small script which is doing the following:
  • the script knows the passphrase for a new NXT account
  • someone funds this account with, for example 10000 NXT
  • the script is watching all active coin shufflings and automatically joins them if the funds are enough
  • after the shuffling happened the script uses the new NXT account with the shuffeled coins and starts at point 1

this script has to be distributed to as many NXT supporters as possible! if we have at least 10 different nodes running this script someone could start a shuffling with only a very short deadline and automatically gets the needed participants.

Nxt Projects / IMAP Server for NXT messages
« on: January 03, 2016, 05:58:37 pm »
i just had a quick idea and did some research but looks like nobody thought about it.
nxt messages are not used heavy because i think its just to much work to login the nxt wallet and check messages or send new messages. what if there is a imap server implementation for nxt messages. a wrapper so everybody could use it in their email client.

technically it should be possible i think. instead of emails you use NXT accounts as recipient. there is just one hard thing i guess which is providing the passphrase for the account.

if it is working we could promote NXT as decentralized mailing system which is also encrypted by default.

Asset Exchange / phasing for dividend payments and lost accounts
« on: December 23, 2015, 09:21:36 am »
i have a short hyptothetical question about phasing combined with a dividend payment for asset holders.
my understanding of phasing is the following: i send my dividend funds to the NXT account "A", with account control and voting i am able to ask the question "should the dividends be distributed to shareholders or shall we buy something" for example. and i set the goal for dividend payout to 50% of all shareholders.

what happesn when many shareholders own a small part of the shares and maybe lost their passphrases to their accounts? and only 49% of all shareholders know their passphrase or saw my question and responded?
are the funds locked forever? or is it possible to define 50% is needed of all votes done till a defined block height?

General Discussion / NXT windows installer - problem with DB path
« on: December 23, 2015, 09:09:51 am »
i ran an old version of NXT server and tried some different versions lately. the new 1.7 client. then switched back to stable version and now i had a big problem. the server wasnt starting anymore and i wasnt able to see any debug output because the window closed after 1 second.

i had to search for debug mode, and found the logs here C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\NXT\logs/ then i quickly saw that it was a DB error but i completely deleted the whole NXT server. why are your storing the DB in the user appdata directory? i have a small SSD and installed the nxt server on my normal old HDD because the db is getting big but that doesnt help.

so to sum up: i dont think its a good idea to seperate the DB folder from the NXT software folder. when someone wants to start from scratch he has to be sure that everything is deleted when he deletes the nxt folder. i am a developer i am able to handle this issue but a normal computer user thinks "whats this crap? i did a update and nothing is working here"

General / transaction confirmations - best practice
« on: February 19, 2015, 08:51:48 pm »
i am working on www.nxtcs.com - a callback service for NXT transactions and have tried to get a nice list of amount of confirmations and the meaning of it. can please somebody hav a look here and tell me if i am right with my list? http://www.nxtcs.com/main/documentation

Depending on the number of confirmations we categorize the transaction status in different types:

  • unconfirmed transaction
  • confirmed - at least one confirmation
  • reliable - at least 10 confirmations
  • irreversible - at least 720 confirmations - blocks cannot be reorganized anymore
  • permanent - at least 1440 confirmation - really nobody could change this transaction anymore, but it will take 24 hours

Monetary System / MS coins on cryptocoincharts.info
« on: February 06, 2015, 12:16:41 pm »
i really want to have monetary system coins, trade history and orderbooks on www.cryptocoincharts.info
unfortunately i dont have free time left in the next weeks :( is anybody here able to help me with the integration?
i just need a simple cronjob which gives me
1. all available coins / tradingpairs
2. last x trades of each coin
3. bid/ask orders of each coin
in a php array. then its easy for me to get this data into my database and show the charts.
i think this will help ms coins and NXT as whole to get more attention. i will also pay a little bounty!

NXTCS is a callback service for developers. We will watch your account and call your defined URLs at specific events like receiving payments. You get all infos for processing in a JSON posted to your script.

Website: http://www.nxtcs.com/
NXTCS Asset ID: 12658817572699179955

NXTCS is happy to support the SuperNET and to show its appreciation for the SuperNET community it will be dividending out 5% to SuperNET assetholders
500,000 NXTCS = 0.6127 NXTCS per SuperNET

i am working on a small, but i think really necessary, project which helps to integrate NXT payments in any website or application without the need to run a own NXT node and checking incoming transactions.
my plan is to copy the functionality of the "blockchain - receive payments API" for NXT
documentation about this is here: https://blockchain.info/api/api_receive

if you want to accept NXT payments and do automatic order processing when you got the payment you have todo the following

  • register your NXT account at my service + a callback URL (no account needed. this will just be an API call)
  • now i am checking every incoming transaction to this account
  • if someone wants to pay with NXT you provide the customer your NXT account + a unique text (some sort of token)
  • your customer sends the coins to your account and he has to attach your unique token as unencrypted message
  • if you get a payment my service will call your callback URL and gives you the amountNQT + the unencrypted message as JSON
  • now you can check your order database and match the order by the provided message from the transaction

this is the best way for deposit processing as described in the nxt integration guide by wesley.
at no time i have access to your funds!

the core system is already working! now i have to make it bullet proof and reliable. for example calling the callback url many times if your server is not available at the payment time.

what do you think about it? any suggestions? looking forward to your comments...

NRS Client Helpdesk / jetty cache when updating the UI html
« on: December 12, 2014, 07:15:38 am »

i always have a problem updating to the newest NXT client or supernet client. when i am just updating the UI folder with new html it looks like jetty always gives me the html/js content of a previous cached version.

for example if i change something in the index.html file and i hit CTRL + F5 in my browser the page doesnt update. but if i copy the index.html to index2.html, change something in there and the load the index2.html in my browser i see the changed html code. i am using firefox with the web dev toolbar. tried every option to disable cache, delete cookies, even tried different browsers. so its 100% no caching issue on my browser! i saw another thread mentioning the same problem. looks like nobody has a clue. btw i am using win7.

API discussion / sign transaction with PHP
« on: November 25, 2014, 01:55:11 pm »
is there a php library for signing transactions local with PHP?

when i use the sendMoney api without the secretPhrase i get unsigned transaction bytes. then i have to sign it with my secretPhrase and broadcast the transaction with the broadcastTransaction API call. this is how myNXT wallet is doing it and its the right way i guess. they used a javascript library for signing the bytes. unfortunately i dont know how todo this in PHP and havent found anything. anybody here already done this?

i will help to create a little library. PHP is mostly used on servers so its a good idea to have a NXT library with the most needed functions.

SuperNET Releases / MGW trading data now on cryptocoincharts
« on: August 18, 2014, 05:09:49 pm »
as part of my project www.cryptoassetcharts.info i am already showing charts for the NXT asset exchange but i thought it would be better to show mgwBTC and mgwLTC also on www.cryptocoincharts.info as normal trading pair to show the right trading volume for all NXT trading pairs. its online now:

my NXT donation address if you like my work ;)
thank you very much!
