What Does Nxt Mean To You?
« on: July 22, 2016, 10:02:06 pm »

Hi, everyone,

After getting some flattering feedback on an article I wrote about Nxt/Ardor at Enter Stage Right, plus an equally flattering request to have one of my 2014 articles reprinted for the upcoming community anthology about the early days of Nxt, I've volunteered to write a book-length "biography" of Nxt.

Ref.: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/got-a-flattering-pm-soliciting-suggestions-about-writing-about-ardor/20/?topicseen

Like a bio of a celebrity, this book will be a way for Nxt newbies & those who are interested in Gen-2 crypto to get to know Nxt. I'm going to be distributing it free, and I hope it's good enough for the Nxt Foundation et. al. to distribute for free too.

But before I start, I need some info on what Nxt means to all y'all. So, could you respond with what Nxt means to you? How do you expect it to change the world? What does it represent?  What are your hopes, forecasts, and even dreams about a world with Nxt in it?

Thanks for your responses. It'll help me crafting the book in a way that'll appeal to like-minded folks in the outside world.

I came to Bitcoin for the promise of ending the monopoly of banks and governments on finance. It will be a revolution that will rival the internet in it's importance - and we haven't even seen the beginning of it yet.
I'm happy if I can make some money on the way. I think it was that greed that made me look into alts. Only NXT seemed to be anything of substance two years ago. And once I've read more about it, it became clear that it fixes some of Bitcoins problems. I'm more and more convinced that Bitcoin is not sustainable. The mining system just creates conflicts of interests, that we see on display by now. And then there is the burning of energy... it might still be worth it if it leads to a change in world-finance. But NXT cant do it without this downside (burning a barrel of oil to do some transactions just seems insane).

Nxt also offered more - the Asset exchange seemed like it had the potential of widespread use, even for average people and businesses. Sadly, after being really exciting in the first months, that part fell flat.

Not 100% sure where we stand right now. The competition got tougher. Other currencies implemented Nxt's features like POS and the Asset exchange. And Ethereum took the buzz.
I still feel Nxt is the only one that is most future-proof and the most technically advanced of the options. Ardor even more so. Maybe things like NEM can hold up to it (don't know enough, it's too tough to keep up on all alts). Mass-adioption of Nxt seems further away for now. Though in the big picture I don't care which name the blockchain is called that frees the world of the grip of banks.

NXT is what made me specialize in blockchain technology.
NXT taught me how to build crypto platforms.
NXT was the basis for FIMK.

NXT was the blueprint for HEAT (dressed down and rebuilt from the ground up)

NXT is a lot of fun!

NXT seems like something very promising but still very abstract. I am still very curious thought.

Thanks to you all!

Sorry about the delay in responding. This time, it was a combo of real-world events and writers' insecurity. ::) I've been chwing over the best way to approach this - the best way to "frame" the story, if you will. Again, thanks.

Nicely put. I'm also in it for the liberation of people from financial strangleholds of the bank but I'm sure as hell am going to try to make some money in the process.
