1.  NXT was the official crypto currency partner of the 2014 PayExpo in London.  The cost to be a partner at the expo and have a booth and speaking time on stage is £15,000:

http://www.payexpo.com/page.cfm/ID=1

2.  Here is John Manglaviti (Cointropolis) and Lee Gibson's (TXTcoin) talk at the PayExpo about NXT:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7qOTNHIX77w

3.  Right now, NXT has the option to be the official crypto currency partner of the 2015 PayExpo again for £15,000.  The deadline to make this payment and reserve the partnership and have a booth is June 28th.  If NXT is not a partner then the Bitcoin Foundation will probably fill the void and be the crypto partner.

4. £15,000 is only the "partner & booth" cost.  The hotel/flight cost of sending representatives from the NXT community to the payexpo will also incur additional cost but there will be a year to raise funds for the this.  Right now, if the community wants NXT to be at the 2015 PayExpo again, we will need to raise approximately £15,000 in NXT.

5.  Please leave your "yes" or "no" decision including a reason for your decision.

6.  Donations will also be needed to fund this decision.  if you would like to donate nxt to fund this event, please state the amount of nxt you will commit to this event in your comment.  Once there is enough "yes" votes and enough nxt donations, I will provide a receiving nxt address to receive the funds and pay the payexpo folks.

7.  Myself, QBTC, Damelon, and Uniqueorn are the folks involved in this matter.

8.  If the majority of community votes is "no" we will notify the PayExpo people we are not interested and will not pursue this matter any further.

9.  If the majority of the community vote "yes", and there is enough donation commitments from the community, then we will proceed accordingly.  If the majority vote is "yes" but there is not enough donation commitments coming in, then we will close the issue and not pursue this matter any further.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:

10.  Several prominent people in the community are available to convert the donations into fiat off exchange so it will not have an artificial effect on the price of NXT in the case we have enough donations for the event.

11.  Please be sure to submit your vote at the top of this post so your votes can be tallied.

Thanks for your input in this matter.

Yes because:
2015 is the first year of the crypto conference
2015 is the first year in london that a crypto conference will be alongside the main financial conferences
2015 will be the second year that NXT will have replaced BTC at this conference in london

Yes

because:
- The contacts to the financial industry are more important than contacts made at crypto conferences
- PayExpo already turned down Bitcoin and asked us first if we wanted to be the sponsor again because they were impressed by us
- It will give us a prime position in comparison to other coins that will be there for the crypto part of the conference next year.

Yes.

Because:
- The Bitcoin Foundation will probably be completely dead by next year, at the rate it's going
- We're number 3 now, and a year is a long time.  Nxt is 7 months old on June 25.
- The Expo was great exposure for us; and unlike our attendance at crypto-conferences, we need to be ahead of the pack with participation in more generic, finance-related events
- We will be elegantly positioned, one year from now, to more fully engage at this conference.  In fact, with some coordination, we can build a team to attend thta represents GoCoin, TXT Coins Now, MGW, Supercell, Nxthaus, and all of the other awesome applications that will be up and running... not to mention all of the other core features in the pipeline.

I'm not a whale, but I will pledge 5000Nxt.

I DO think, though, that ventures that hope to capitalize from an event like this (like the startups previously mentioned) should also invest in this sponsorship.  They stand the most to profit.

Yes!

Its important publicity for Nxt. We can have all the functionality in the world but if no one knows about it then what good does it do? Additionally, HUGE progress has been made with MGW and AT! Lets not brag, but we sure can talk everyone's ear off about how amazing we are.  ::)

Should we attend, we need a real go getter to sponsor us. Someone who is going to be up, about, and on top of making these important connections.

Just my two cents.

Yes, for reasons already mentioned. If we lose our placement now it would be a sad day. However, this is expensive. We need to pay now to guarantee our place. Please consider helping with the funding as there is no other place from which to pull this amount.

Yes,
- because the contacts made there are very important
- We can use a slogan like "Official (crypto) partner/sponsor of PayExpo 2014 & 2015" for one year
- It shows the world that NXT community that funds the Payexpo sponsoring is here to stay and really believes in NXT

Yes,

Because in 2015 we can show them much more than we did now.

Also I think that the Espo itself will get more attention in 2015 which will be good for NXT as well.

I think that John needs to write more about what businesses expect from a cryptocurrency partner. So we can develop it. He said that he learned very much there. I'm very curious what he has learned.

Yes. Having events listed one year in advance is good, period. Perspective, aim, a ton of things to think about and integrate in the event.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Nxt graphic calendar? For both past and future, releases, breakthroughs, events and big news...

15,000 GBP = 25,524 USD

To have some more perspective, at current price this is close to 380,000 NXT before next saturday.

Ok, and how much NXT has the marketing fund left over?

The MC has about 300K left at this point. We are currently voting on a proposal that is asking for 200k.

I'm going to suggest we don't deplete the Marketing Fund on this one event. The community is voting overwhelmingly that they DO support going and give a lot of good reasons. This really needs to be a community funded effort. Yes, big whales belong to the community and so do all the rest of us who said "yes". How badly as a group do we want to do this?

Errrr....before we start throwing huge sums of NXT at anyone, I have a couple of questions:

Point 1: Who is going to represent NXT at PayExpo2015 ?
I don't know how Cointropolis and NXT are going to work together in the future, but Cointrop are not NXT, and it would be good to have dedicated NXT'ers represent us at this sort of event. That's not meant to be an anti-Cointrop comment, btw, they did great work at PayExpo2014
So: we need an in-house team of guys/girls who can/will play at this level of the business game and right now, apart from Lee/TXT4Coins, I'm not really seeing anyone in a position to step up for this role. Any ideas?

Point 2: Who is going to sign off on the legal paperwork this time ?
Txt4Coins put the paperwork for PayExpo2014 in their name (VAT claim, anyone?) and I signed off on Bitcoin2014 myself, but we can't expect individual community members to always put themselves on the line for NXT events.

On the initial question of PayExpo2015 sponsorship.....I'm on the fence. It's too far in the future for any meaningful forecasts.
The current publicity would be good, but I'd prefer to pay a 10-20% deposit now, sign off on the paperwork and then pay the balance a lot later.

But first...what about my 2 points above?

Good post. I think we need to keep the committee marketing fund as liquid as possible. Spending 2/3rds of it a year in advance is a rash and poor idea, imo.

We became the sponsor of this even about a month before the event and now they want to lock us in an entire year in advance? This sounds like a hard sell to me. At any rate, I think we should try to negotiate a deposit and then raise that deposit amount from the community not the committee funds.

Bitcoin might have been annoyed that NXT was the official sponsor, but that doesn't mean the Bitcoin Foundation is going to pay a year in advance either.

In my view (personal opinion), the marketing committee should not be contributing to this deal.... but that's not what this thread is about.

Tai Zen asked if people agree that this investment, and also asked if people are willing to put some coin behind their votes.  As far as I can tell, I'm the only person who has pledged any Nxt so far.
