Best way to help my friend in Nepal raise coins?
« on: May 21, 2015, 06:42:37 pm »

I actually haven't posted here in a while, nor been working on my Trust your assets site, because I've been working non-stop at a startup.  I hopefully can get back to it in 6 months.  But one of my overseas software developers in Nepal became homeless because of the earthquakes and suffered personal tragedies.  And he can't work for us right now because of his situation.
He's tried some crowdfunding sites, but they all require paypal, ssn and it's hard for him to even exchange paypal.

I've introduced him to bitcoin and there's a shipping company next to him that will exchange bitcoin for cash (found it on localbitcoin).

I told him to get some pictures with his family and a QR code for bitcoin:
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=6fd9df31ced427b4%21391

QR code translated is: 1HG2GQFJJNQf21H7WeD7BFp5CdJDn37AQk

Is there a good place to put this that people can recommend?

I know you could think this is some kind of scam, but I'm been a user here for a little bit, and if you'd like to get in touch with him, I can give you his skype or email.  That's one thing about fundraising like this, it's hard to prove.  Any suggestions about the best way to go about this?  I've also posted this to bitcointalk

I've donated a bit. I wish that he and his family will soon get a home again, good luck to them!

Looks like you're shadowbanned on Reddit - meaning nobody will see what you posted (unless you link it directly as you did here).
And it's understandable that they would do this. If no official channels are used, it is very hard to verify that this is honest - and sadly scammers use that to their advantage.

Reasonable objection, but wrt "official channels" I must point to this:

Thanks for the donation and the info.
Wow, yeah my friend in Nepal says the government takes all the money. He hasn't seen 1 tent or packaged food.

I think I got most of the response from imgur by publishing it.  It got a lot more views after that.

Ok, I will figure out how to get rid of the shadow ban on reddit.  I haven't posted on there much.
