Good news for on the Automated Transaction front (Turing complete scripting, beating Etheruem's progress at the moment  ;D)

vbecas, one of our AT devs, is planned to have AT up and running on testnet by the first days of September. This is to enable all our other devs and anyone else to try and break it, the first step of integration into the mainnet.

I suppose Cat wants a hands on experience with developing plugins. I'm sure you can ask the dev of the plugin system for help - and the dev of the crowdfunding (and NxtShop) plugin for the files, to then modify it.
The rest is in the NXT plugin spec thread, but since it's not even fully released it's not a lot of info/tools yet.
