I snuck this this into the IOTA thread, but in the podcast, David Sønstebø said Sergey Ivancheglo is BCnext and the host was surprised, but he said he has no problem with being known now. I suppose this is correct?

Never read or heard anywhere that CfB (Sergey) claimed he was BCNext. David did, but CfB never confirmed.

I really don't think it matters, it's known that IOTA comes from old NXT devs. If anything since the market cap is so high, it should drive up Ardor, who knows. Right now there is 1 exchange bitfinex.

I got a little bit, tried out the wallet, doesn't do much. It's a long term thing I suppose. Very good tech behind it, different than blockchain, good for devices

Sounds plausible that CSW was part of SN team. SN couldn't have been one man. Yeah yeah I hear your question re location of private keys. It is probably that encrypted usb drive that belonged to CSW's partner who died.

As for CfB is BCNext, I'd bet 1 BTC that it's him. Not more, because who really cares.

So this matters too. There are reasons Satoshi went underground. He prevented himself of using his reputation for personal gain and for leverage in further Bitcoin development. All of this power of course is also a danger since he can get pressured or manipulated by outside actors (governments, corporations, criminals...).

So I am very disappointed this happened. I can imagine well that David went over the head of CfB here. It seems strange to make this announcement like this. It's using the reputation of BCNext and NXT to get more profit for Iota. Of course, before we believe it we should get proper proof, like a signed message with the Genesis block or something. The weird limbo now is also a shitty situation. Maybe it isn't a huge deal if the ecosystem stays this small. But it will if NXT succeeds.

If you listen to the podcast, he respects people privacy and says he only says it because he's fine with it. The host was surprised, but maybe it was already announced, I don't know. Maybe someone has a better interpretation of what was said

It was written somewhere on iota's official website, CFB is using BCNext as pseudo on Reddit for more than a
year and on nxtslack in #random on 12th July he claimed it directly explaining that he as BCNext had always said that he will leave and as CFB that he was only working under contract. Perhaps slack did not deleted yet, have a look.

This is no proof, I believe there is no proof possible anymore, we all know the genesis passphrase, and when he disapeared BCNext gave CFB, every credentials. Only probability is quite high that it can true.

If true, it is legit that David uses BCNext reputation to sale his soup.

If bullshit, CFB is evil, which is hard to believe.

But everything is possible because CFB knows that if BCNext would dare to react to such an usurpation, he would have no proof to use.

CfB did not claim he was BCnext on the 12th july on slack, he only claimed that he worked as CfB as a contracted from BCnext (as everyone know well).

I=CfB in that sentence. CfB say it clearly. I don't know how you get that CfB=BCNext there.

No, because, at that time, CFB never (I'm not 100% sure about "never") wrote BCNext was going to quit, but BCNext did (this I'm 100% sure). Why would, at that time, CFB tells us about BCNext intentions ?
So when he says: "I was telling that BCNext.. blabla.. I (as CFB)..blabla" he admits he was BCNext "voice".

Moreover IOTA is based on a Proof of Work consensus not a Proof of Stake, to my knowledge.

The true BCNext will reappear soon.

That's mainly because Satoshi is thought to control over a million Bitcoin, which is real power. And the media would make a story out of it for a week. I'm not sure how much personal influence he would have, though, if it turned out he hadn't kept the private keys. For example, it was clear he intended the block size limit to be temporary, but few people care about that now. He would be just one more technically qualified opinion.
