Runescape "NXT"

Nothing to do with the crypto, though I wonder if NXT would be a good fit for the Runescape MMO economy...

I always thought so. I was hoping Lyth would one day launch and have something like that.

Hi  :D

the gaming industry is a very good target for NXT and is time to get a part of this VR/VW mania...
we need just some working examples to introduce NXT to that kind of plateforms and my modest project may become one of them if i got a bit of help related to the C# module...

@coretechs: the view from your land  :D i am working on this side...

I don't see any use for cryptocurrency inside an MMO.

As much use as any other currency or am I missing something?

Sadly in crypto the only to follow low transaction costs is protocol.

NXT is not a cryptocurrency but a crypto-token ! , this last one can serve to create cryptocurrencies or to be used for any kind of platform that need secured tokens or units...
this is a case of use of BTC in a virtual world https://yrgrid.com/

You're missing the fact that not a single MMO uses a real currency. Using a real currency within an MMO would require talking to banks about every in-game transaction. Bad idea.
If you run a game, you already have a database for the whole game state, no need to build an entirely different system for money.
----------
If you're talking about pegging or real-virtual currency exchange, that also doesn't need cryptocurrency. You just exchange money and store balances in a database.

this is a case of use of BTC in a virtual world https://yrgrid.com/
How is it different from buying ISK for Bitcoin and cashing out ISK for Bitcoin? You still deposit BTC and withdraw BTC, no difference IMO.

yes i agree , and this is what i setup in the nxt3d project but NXT is a business toolbox and not a simple money system...
for example, the internal marketplace can provide to the metaverse a substitute to this:
https://www.kitely.com/market
(or better : http://www.playerauctions.com/)
and give freedom to the metaverse merchands from the 20% per sale commission that kitely taxe to it's merchands...
the asset exchange is a good tool to... will provide to the metaverse users a way to get funds and manage the things...

With cryptocurrencies it is possible to create cross-game market for in-game items. Eg buy a sword in Diablo and use it in Dark Souls.

Hi  :D
With cryptocurrencies it is possible to create cross-game market for in-game items...
this what i try to do with the opensim server using the hypergrid... the marketplace can be the cross grids market...

... Eg buy a sword in Diablo and use it in Dark Souls.
this is technically impossible because the items in the normal games are stored in the user computer after the game installation and they are locked/unlocked following some parameters like the membership type or after a purchase...
in the opensim system, all the items, images, called (assets) are stored in the server side and not in the client... when you login in a virtual world is similar to a website visit... the website elements are loaded from the server to the browser when you open the page...

this architecture make possible the items creation (is the users who create the virtual worlds!!!) and avatars / assets transfert from an opensim server to an other... thing that not possible in the normal games even the lasts ones...
the marketplace will serve to join/link in the same place all the merchands in all the existing grids (~300 confirmed) and expose them products to the crypto users and the metaverse users...

Typical narrow band dev vision. ;)

VR is about new life experiences. Decentralized currency brings real life value into the VR experience. Equal more adrenaline than a classical "game owner centralized token". Game owners want more adrenaline into their player veins. VR properties can also be tight to Nxt to become real properties instead of in-game properties.

Do you prefer to play in BOB's game or to play in THE game ?

It would be stupid for a VW architect not to consider to use any of the rising cryptotoken networks.
