When you speculate on some technology, like NXT or BTC, what things you look at to see the probability of it doing better in near future?

Transaction time, block times are important, but blockchain bloating and other limitations like block size are becoming apparent in BTC.
Energy consumption with POW mining is a total joke IMO, seems really uneconomic to me.
BTC is becoming more centralised with only the major players or pools running the network these days.

Asset exchange and monetary system are a great advantage, not to mention many other "firsts" that NXt has bought to the table.

 - Adoption
 - Lead Devs
 - Other Devs
 - Management Team
 - Investor's
 - User community
 - Dev toolkits
 - Guides & Documentation of that tech, for both devs and users
 - Overall management of that tech
 - Competitors
 - Future Plans and strategies to stand in market
 - Technology Partners etc.

There could be so many things I might have not listed or missed in the list. Just a technological/financial view point alone is not enough to speculate on X technology.

Its been a tough couple of months for me, but I'm hopefully back to being here a bit more. Sorry to everyone for my random leave of absence.

How are things going these days? will need to check out the newest dev progress.

I have still been working in the background with SuperNET, and recently have helped put pieces together for a superNET plugin, that will come together soon enough.

Jay has been rather stagnant, and sadly the asset price looks pretty bleak at the moment, but I still have some ideas on that front and instantDEX will still technically lead to revenue on that.

As for the other tools that I have made over time, I will be doing my best to update those to the current versions when I can find time, I hear variable fees will be a thing soon.

Well, it looks a lot more convincing than Dorian "happens to have the right name" Nakamoto.

You have to be very naive to believe this is the reason.

It's how they got Al Capone.

On the contrary, THIS is the reason, nothing else.
If you hold crypto it is like a saving account. And in Australia you must pay the associated tax.
If you hold 1million bitcoins and you don't pay since 2009, in the end it must be quite a bill...  :o :o :o

Satoshi Nakamoto?

Gawker claim to have been following the same trail. Looks like someone was feeding the story to a number of tech news sites.

The Craig Wright thing doesn't add up. There's supposed to be a tx of 1.1m BTC. Where is it on the blockchain and why are Satoshi's coins still where they always were? https://bitscan.com/articles/something-about-the-new-satoshi-isnt-wright

I'm trying to find another explanation and the only ones I can come up with are
1) Someone else has 1m BTC
2) The doc is fake

Control of 1.1m BTC were supposed to have been given to a trust, but that needn't mean a transaction. He might have just handed over a wallet.dat, and deleted the original. That would imply either the trustee did not understand how Bitcoin worked, or else trusted that Satoshi really did delete the original. Admittedly, either seems unlikely.

Yes, it wouldn't be a transfer in a meaningful sense. And the trustee worked on bitcoin so clearly understood it. It's looking suspicious.

There is also an issue of PGP key that was faked.

So thankfully the identity of Satoshi is still unknown. May she live happily ever after in anonymity and peace.

Is it just me or is SecureAE giving a terrible exchange rate?  I used to send my BTC to my SecureAE account to convert it to NXT.  Just today, I was going to send them 0.25 BTC and they quoted me about 10,000 NXT in exchange.  I then went to Poloniex and got 16,000 for the same 0.25 BTC.

Anybody else have similar results?

An update here for visibility...

The Nxt Wiki has changed server and domain - http://nxtwiki.org. Please update your links! The old nxtcrypto.org subdomain hasn't been redirected in the last weeks after the move, so we're moving on.

For the new season we need to work in a lot of Wiki updates, and committed contributors are needed. If you want to learn more including bounty details, please keep an eye on the Wiki Workthread. Work priorities will be discussed soon.

I have started a new thread, after discussion with VanBreuk.

A new start required a new thread :)
