what's more risky?... leaving purchased bitcoins with Coinbase or sending and then stashing mgwBTC with SuperNET v1.5.12.1?  I've been using that mgw version.  Haven't switched to SuperNET v2.0.5.

I see coinbase as very low risk (extremely low if you use the multisig vault where you get two keys). I see mgw as pretty risky based on what I read in the support thread.

Risky wrt reliability based on how often the servers are down and out of sync. Not in a someone might steal your coins way, all though there is risk there too.  As much as people here want to be anarchists, a registered US company with a multi-sig vault that carries insurance is very very low risk on both the loss issue and the reliability issue.

Then I think we should also say that the new BTC servers haven't been down in over a week, nor out of sync. And that they go online in a few minutes. That was mentioned in the support thread too. We're just waiting for new SuperNET release to feature them.

You will understand it is not nice to read someone call a service "pretty risky" based on low service uptime in servers with old and slow code, right when you've been working for weeks to test and debug the newly released code, finally get them online and available for testing, and find there's no downtimes or problems so far.

Just for the record.

That's great that new servers and code will be improving the situation, but until they are live and in full time use and are proven out I can't comment on them. I'm going by historical use and following the situation in the support thread. It's just one persons opinion and it caused me to stop using the mgw to trade NXT/BTC.

Considering instantDEX is built on the mgw I wish the project every success.

Let's just blame the market.....I've given up trying to see any sane pattern in the Chinese market. Sit back and enjoy the ride  :o
The only constant I can see so far is that the Chinese are choosing to pump only 'old' currencies: PPC, LTC, NMC....even Novacoin.

That's because they're on BTC-E for historical reasons. That's where most of the volume is for the old coins (with LTC also being strong in China).
And also, one might prefer to cash out in $.

Wonder when the big exchanges go to 2.0 coins - they won't have much of a choice at some point. 2.0s have pushed the old stuff out, and new BTC clones are becoming rare.

That's great news.
I have always used MGW in the past, but abandoned it a couple weeks ago when I had to wait > 1 week for a transfer.
When you have a new version up and running, please announce it here so I won't miss it!

Keep up the good work!

There are a number of negative customer experience reports on Coinbase at bitcointalk.org, I wouldn't be so quick to judge.

Let's just blame the market.....

Speaking of the market, Nxt has been quite stable in satoshi terms. Year-to-date, its satoshi price has centred around 5000.

When you think about it, that's pretty darn good. Currency-wise, as we all know, stability is the long-term best case. The pattern's been so stable, there's even grist for a little arbitrage action: buy when significantly below 5000, sell when significantly above. Rinse, repeat and ride out the times when the market leaps or plummets well below the level at which you quantified "significantly."

In fiat terms, Nxt is up to a penny and a half (U.S.) Good times...

BTC @310$  https://bitcoinwisdom.com/markets/bitfinex/btcusd

I saw that...and it made me kinda gloomy 'cos I wanted to buy more when I could afford to.

Are there an unusually high number of long blocks recently, or am I imagining it? If so, can someone open a support ticket please?

When I look at CoinMarketCap.com, it looks like Bitcoin is in a league of its own in terms of Market cap. Followed by Ripple and Litecoin, then I'd group #4 (DASH) - #12 (Namecoin) as one large Tier 3 group of coins. NXT is in there at #9, but has been higher before. Seems like there's a lot of movement between coins #6-#11.
