KeyStash 0.5.0e is ready for testing.

What i tried to achieve in the last couple of month was to mix the best from bitcoind and the Nxt API into one backend and not create somekind of bridge.
Nxt has not really a fundament to build on(how to store the private phrase, how to generate a private phrase, how to backup etc...).
All calls with the keystash API are directly associated with the accounts in the wallet file like in bitcoind.
keystashd naturally does local signing, you can broadcast the transaction to a public node(privacy concerns) or your own node.
Mainly you dont need more than this. getNewAccount, getSinceBlock, getBalanceByLabel, signTransaction & broadcastTransaction, backupWallet

All versions with "e" in it will be recommended to use with "test NXT".

Any feedback is appreciated

I was just thinking about the copy and paste problem when using a login passphrase when the obvious struck me: run a lightweight virtual machine (e.g. Lubuntu) for accessing your main wallet with the clipboard not shared with your main OS. Only use the VM for accessing Nxt wallet, nothing else.

Any drawbacks with this idea?

Very philosophical but I was taking a  pragmatic approach.

People throw their NXT away at "assets" too easily imo.  Has NXT ever failed to deliver?  Asset issuers get peoples' NXT and then sell it for BTC thus driving down the price of NXT and the majority of the time they disappoint their investors.  A LOSE-LOSE situation a majority of the time.  Of course, not all asset issuers do this, but even those with good intentions in the beginning can fail.  Assets are a dime a dozen, but there is only one NXT.

Well said.

There is also this thing called: no risk no gain. First time I looked at NXT when it was few days old it looked like a pure scam. Anyway: people should take more responsibility for their own investments. But also seek responsibility from people you invest in. Or don't invest at all.
