[X-Post as quite worrying me]

A friend I just introduced to Nxt is still downloading the blockchain and his antivirus is pointing to peers as source of virus?

Check the tread here: https://nxtforum.org/general-discussion/virus-in-the-peers/

If anyone has ever experienced this please enlighten me... He is on Windows, I am on OSX, the screenshot on the tread linked comes from him...

Now what the hell is bitshares up to this time?

This is not the Bitshares we currently see at spot #4, but BitsharesPTS (ex protoshares) that is actually at spot #44.

How this happened with almost no volume is a riddle ::) :o

Majority of voters think NXT is going to stay the same or go down.  Good news.  The public is always wrong.

Predictions are based on the knowledge of statistical patterns.

I doubt if anyone of the voters even the expert NXT programmers have enough such knowledge about the totally new and uncharted crypto field. At most, they can only tell that according to their logic NXT should reach massive adoption, but they cannot tell if the masses will be exposed enough to their logic without being influenced by detractors. Thus, this poll with all its numbers totals a 100% response that expresses: "I don't know, but I anyway like to express my subjective opinion of the moment". Please correct me if I'm mistaken ;)

You call the voters "the public"? You can hardly call the small Nxt community as the public. I like the rather negative attitude of many Nxters because it shows that they're being realistic. Nxt has the potential to be huge but maybe in the end another technology will prevail or maybe in the future there won't be any demand for decentralised technology because the centralised solutions work although they are centralised.

It don't surpise me there is price movement just before 1.5 is about to go out.
It's probably one of the most important update.

The plugin system will allow the community to be even more creative. And the one click installer+tray icon down the line will greatly help user retention  and adoption I think. And of course voting and phasing!

NXT is my favorite coin to trade precisely because whales have trapped it in a range...
Plus there is low chance of a major collapse.

You can consistently short-term scalp it for 3-5%... or medium term swing trade NXT for 10-15%...

What this does is steadily lower your cost base as you slowly accumulate...
At the expense of people that push prices up to buy 500K or 1000K NOW.

I know you are smart guy familiar with financial markets.
What is your assessment of flat rate 2.5 NXT per orderbook per trade pricing?

I think it makes it unattractive for the smaller lot traders and annoying satoshi bots, but for medium and larger traders it is quite attractive. hopefully enough to get them to try it.

I estimated average commission per trade of 10 NXT as about the high end, certainly for the initial months of a new way for trading. That is ~0.5 BTC average trade size at 0.1% or 0.1 BTC and 0.5%, so based on this a flat rate is much simpler for everyone to understand and with the bias toward favoring the bigger traders, could attract a lot of volumes. which in turn will attract many other traders and also will naturally create smaller spreads.

Your assertion that one trader cant create liquidity all by themselves is only correct if that liquidity doesnt attract any other traders. I am currently coding up hybrid orderbooks so people can automatically see an orderbook for A/C, even if such doesnt directly exist from A/B and B/A orderbooks. yes, this means people can directly purchase arbitrage pairs, but that will cost an extra 2.5 NXT as it goes through 2 orderbooks.

Can you see a need for supporting 3 orderbooks in a single trade? Until we can support short selling or direct purchases of derivatives, I am not seeing much benefit for this.
