You may all have seen the news about HyperLedger.

What we couldn't tell you until the PR from the Linux Foundation had gone out is that the Nxt Foundation has joined the Linux Foundation as an Affiliate Non-Profit Member and has also been accepted as a Affiliate Member of the HyperLedger Project!

We are happy to be a part of this, especially as we take the Linux Foundation as our model for our Foundation and the communication has been very cordial.

You cannot see us in the BIG list as we are not a Premium or Corporate Member as we do not have the capital to be one at the moment.

HyperLedger is just starting, and we expect this will have a very positive effect on our market position.

We are of course also talking to several other parties, but please understand that we cannot confirm anything until we get a "go" from any organisation. That's just the way things work.

Suffice to say we are working hard at all times to solidify our position in upcoming or existing collaboration projects. We hope to come out with more news soon!

THIS is exactly what distinguishes NXT from corporate orgs like Etherium, Ripple, Blockstream and all those other VC driven constructs!

I highly doubt that the linux foundation(R3) is less VC driven. Nxt will fail without VC money in the long term.

How much is a premium/corporate sponsorship and, in addition to publicity, what would that get NXT in terms, voting rights, priority, etc? Not to second guess this at all--this is awesome news and great job all around. Thank you Damelon and the other elite NXTers for all you do.

I'm asking because, IF a higher-level sponsorship makes sense, would a TNSSE-style fundraising effort be worth a shot to obtain the sponsorship costs from the community?

The fee for Affiliate membership of the Linux Foundation for a non-profit organisation (like the Nxt Foundation

) isn't expensive, and we did get a discount.

We all like Linux and the tenets of the open source movement, so it's just a good idea in every way to forge closer ties with them.

It means a lot of things, potentially. Depends what we do with it....

For example, the Nxt Foundation now has something like 0.2% of the voting rights for the Linux Foundation, we have access to (and possibly even input to) the HyperLedger project and other LF projects.

Joining the LF will also help with generally raising the profile of Nxt within the Linux community, and puts us in the same space as a LOT of corporate players.

And I haven't even mentioned that by supporting the LF, we are directly supporting the Open Source movement.
